2007 BMW 3 Series Electrical System

Keeps dying out. Can't drive it at all.

the component that failed involved 4 wires (pictures available); that somehow grounded against a cross member that wouldn't have been previously visible due to their location hidden by the under car shielding. the car is at the wrecking yard that the police called. i wanted triple a to come and get it, but was told by an officer that they didnt have time for that. i had to go in to the tow company, and sign my title over to cover towing, and avoid further billing. as of 2 weeks ago it was still there. my safety was at risk due to the electrical fire that then caught the shielding on fire, and desperately try to put it out, and no luck. the problem has not been confirmed, by anyone beside me. i have pictures and evidentally showing where the fire started. in the images it shows one and maybe two areas of toning where the wire(s) fused to the cross member about 12 inches back from the firewall in the middle on the underside of the car. the car has only been inspected by me. i retrieved the fire fighters report, and have not been able to get the police report yet due to financial constraints. though the car is being picked off of; as of the last time i took pictures, the area that caused the incident was still intact. i had been in the car no longer than 7-10 minutes of operating it when it went into limp mode and probably travelled 50 feet until it came to a complete stop; then i noticed smoke coming out from the hood; so i popped the hood, jumped out, and opened it. that when i saw an orange glow obscured by the firewall. i then ran to the passenger side, and saw a relatively small fire. so i took my coat off and tried to smother it, but then my coat caught fire, and it grew from there. when the fire department engaged the fire with water; there were 2 to 4 times that firemen ran up to me asking if it was a hybrid, and i answered no. it flared up several times creating increasing difficulty for the fire fighters; that an educated guess was caused from electrolysis.

The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328I. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormally strong burning odor coming from the vehicle. Additionally, the blower motor became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he had personally replaced the blower motor. The contact stated that while servicing the vehicle, he noticed that the wiring underneath the footwell had melted. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V676000 (Electrical System); however, the recall repair failed to prevent the failure. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact that he had to pay for the diagnostic test and the repairs. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 173,000.

Defective Professional Grade Radio. When you first start the vehicle the radio works fine. After driving the vehicle 30 minutes or so the digital display on the radio goes blank ( Cannot read the display). The radio is connected to the digital display underneath the speed odometer. So it’s untelling what all might happen if the radio issue is not resolved. It could Possibly cause the vehicle to not start or short out and cause a fire. Me personally, I would just recall it and upgrade it to digital Navi. System.(radio is included). This days time everything is digital.

I was driving to my appointment about 3 weeks ago. When all of a sudden I start to smell smoke. I started to brake at the light when I seen flames coming from underneath my glove box. I pulled over as fast as I could by that time my entire glove box with my documents were on fire.The only thing I had was a gallon of apple juice so I put that on the fire to put it out. That was the only I could contain the fire. From that point my car wouldn't turn back on. So I had to pay to get my vehicle to my home.

The wiring insulation is dry cracked everywhere in both headlights exposing a lot of the wires in many places. It can cause a short.

My car is experiencing electrical failures explained in this recall: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 13V044000 There is a complete loss of power to the vehicle, I need to manually open the trunk, wiggle the positive terminal of the battery to get the power back. This seems to be known issue as identified in the NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 13V044000 When reported to the dealer, they declined to fix the issue as part of recall for the reason my VIN number does not show up in the system for this specific electrical issue. The only way the dealer would address is through charging me for diagnostics and fixing.This seems to be a widespread issue with the model year of the car I own, I expect BMW to fix this as part of the existing recall campaign.

THE HEATER TURNS ON BY ITSELF WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND KILLS MY BATTERY....HAVING LOTS OF OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING..THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR MOTOR TURNS ON SPARATICALLY WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY...NOW THE CAR DOESN'T START AT ALL AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ENGAGE WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON

I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL FAILURE ON CERTAIN BMW'S. RECALL 13V044. MY VEHICLE BAD A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN EARLY DECEMBER 2019. IT NOW SITS IN MY GARAGE. APPARENTLY MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL WHICH I CANNOT UNDERSTAND. IT EXHIBITS ALL THE FAILURES INDICATED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. PLEASE HELP

MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY DUE TO A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS THAT BMW FAILED TO NOTIFY OWNERS ABOUT. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN SEVERAL WEEKS. IF THE CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE MULTIPLE FATALITIES COULD HAVE OCCURED.

TURNED ON BLOWER MOTOR, CAR SMOKED AND BURNT UP BEFORE FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED

WAS DISMISSED BY BMW STATING THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL 17V-683 ' POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER ' ('BLOW-BY-HEATER'). DESPITE HAVING THE DISCRIBED ISSUE WHICH HAS BLOWN 3 FUSES OVER A PERIOD OF ONE WEEK. THIS DISMISSAL DESPITE THE ENGINE TYPE AND YEAR BEING MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. NOTE: RECALL DEEMS THE VEHICLE UNSAFE AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO ME AND MY FAMILY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328I. WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE AT 1 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BMW OF BELLEVUE (13617 NE 20TH ST, BELLEVUE, WA 98005, (425) 243-5201) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

COMFORT ACCESS IS BLOWING FUSE. CAN'T EXIT MY CAR W INSIDE HANDLES, ALL DOORS (ONLY SOMETIMES THOUGH) HAVE TO ROLL DOWN DRIVER WINDOW, INSERT MANUAL KEY TO UNLOCK DOOR. OTHER TIMES, THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK AT ALL. THIS IS DANGEROUS. WITHOUT POWER TO THE WINDOWS, HOW WOULD ONE ESCAPE? THE FOB WILL NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS AT ALL. AS MENTIONED, SOMETIMES I CAN MANUALLY OPEN WITH THE HANDLE INSIDE THE CAR AND OTHER TIMES NOT AT ALL. LOCKS BROKEN AT ALL STAGES, STATIONARY OR MOVING.

MY CAR IS LOSING POWER RANDOMLY, AND HAS A BURNING SMELL. INSPECTED SOME OF THE WIRES AND MY MAIN WIRE GOING INTO MY FUSE BOX LOOKS A LITTLE BURNT AND HAS A COLOR CHANGE TO IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V044000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

RECALLS FOR VALVE HEATER AND BLOWER MOTOR WIRING CANNOT BE FIXED UNTIL MARCH 6, 2019. THIS DATE IS VERY FAR AND THERE SHOULD BE CLOSER DATES TO REMEDY THESE PROBLEMS.

STATIONARY IN PARKING LOT. FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WITH ANY METHOD ATTEMPTED. DRIVERS DOOR WILL ONLY UNLOCK USING EMERGENCY KEY FROM EXTERIOR.

OIL INTERVAL WARNING CANNOT BE RESET UNLESS THE TOTAL MILEAGE IS LESS THAN 180,000 MILES. BMW CONFIRMS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM.

RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES IN OCTOBER 2017 FOR POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER AND BLOWER MOTOR WIRING. BMW HAS NOT CONTACTED US SINCE THEN TO DO THE REPAIRS, AND RECALL WEBSITES STATE THEY'RE NOT YET READY TO DO REPAIRS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR! THIS IS A FAILURE ON THEIR PART TO REMEDY A SAFETY MEASURE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
