power steering stopped working while driving . steering would work again after stopping and tuning engine off. after a few days of this power steering was completly gone. dangerous to drive in traffic.
Intermittent power steering failure. For the second time in 3 years now the power steering is gone. I paid once, but I understand that there is a recall on certain models. It’s a documented issue , but they won’t help.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering became inoperable. The power steering message was displayed and there was an abnormal beeping sound detected. The contact called the local dealer but, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 250,000.
LOSS OF POWER STREERING. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND USED BACK ROADS TO GET HOME SAFELY. LOOKING UP RECALLS, I WONDERED WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON IT. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME YEAR FOR THE RECALL ISSUED FOR CHEV MALIBU WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING WITH THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT.
My power steering will just stop randomly and it will be very hard to turn. This is very dangerous and it was recalled on some models of the malibu but not all of them and mine is doing it alsmot everyday now and im in college so money is a little tight i think that the whole problem should be recalled and fixed.
The power steering emergency light in the radio activated and the wheel started to shake. took it to my mechanic and he said that there is a recall on it. i have been calling the local NJ dealer and he is telling me he can't find it.
THE MALIBU STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHILE RUNNING WHILE STOPPED AND SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING LOCKS UP AND STOPS ALLOWING ME TO TURN, THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T TURN. I HAVE SEEN REPORTS THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSISTANCE IS RECALLED ON NEWER MODELS OF THIS MALIBU BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ON THIS ONE AND I AM UPSET THAT CHEVROLET DIDN'T RECALL ALL OF THE VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME SYSTEM AND ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER HARVEST CHEVROLET (1600 E YAKIMA AVE, YAKIMA, WA 98901) WHERE THE POWER STEERING WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THEIR LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,000.

UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 176,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING AND THE POWER STEERING INFO LIGHT APPEARS.
POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND SHAKES WHETHER THE POWER STEERING IS WORKING OR GOES OUT. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HAVING SMALL CHILDREN MAKES THIS ISSUE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.

OUR 2007 CHEVY MALIBU LS HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT. WE BOUGHT IT NEW AT RED WING CHEVROLET IN 2007. 82,000 MILES WERE PUT ON IT THE FIRST THREE YEARS WE OWNED IT. THE REST WERE WHEN WE ONLY DROVE IT IN THE SUMMER TIME TO SPECIAL OCCASIONS. LATELY WE HAVE BEEN NOTICING THAT THE STEERING JERKS ONCE IN A WHILE. TODAY THE WARNING "POWER STEERING" CAME ON THE DISPLAY. I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT WAS ONLY VIN SPECIFIC, AND OUR CAR WASN'T ONE OF THEM!! HELLO, WE HAVE A 2007 MALIBU AND IT DOES HAVE THAT PROBLEM!! THERE SHOULD BE A LEGAL OBLIGATION FOR THEM TO COVER THE COST OF THIS REPAIR.
BLINKER IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY TURNING OF AND BLINKER ARM IS COMING APART AT THE END OF ARM WHEN DRIVING AND HAPPENS NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF TERRAIN I AM DRIVING ON
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT IN MY CAR. IT HAS THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS OTHER 2007 MALIBUS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED, AND IT IS EVEN THE SAME YEAR MODEL AS OTHER MALIBUS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. HOWEVER, MY CAR ISN'T A PART OF THE RECALL. I'D APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE COULD LET ME KNOW WHY.

INTERMENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. MY MOTHER IS SELLING ME THE CAR AND WE GOT IT CHECKED OUT. I LOOKED INTO CHEVY RECALLS AND IT STATES A RECALL ON 06-08 MALIBU'S FOR A TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND THAT I NEEDED TO CALL CHEVY. I CONTACTED CHEVY ON 05/29/2020 AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE THAT STATED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO GET THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING FIXED. DECIDED TO CALL MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS PRETTY MUCH TOLD 'WELL THAT RECALL EXPIRED IN 2016' REGARDLESS OF EXPIRATION DATE THE PART HAS GONE OUT IN MY CAR AND IS CONTINUING TO DO SO. I AGREED TO GET THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST RAN AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP BUT WAS BASICALLY TOLD THEY WOULD DO NOTHING REGARDLESS OF WHAT CODE CAME ABOUT. REGARDLESS OF EXPIRATION YEAR ON A RECALL IF SOMETHING IS FAULTY BECAUSE OF THE MANUFACTURER PLACED FAULTY PARTS AND WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY NOW THAT IT NEEDS FIXED.
POWER STEERING FAILED DURING LOW SPEED LEFT TURN, POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET. CAR HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES ON ITS OWN WHILE IDLING. PULL CAR IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS WHILE DRIVING
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING, IT COMES BACK TO NORMAL WHEN I RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS POWER STEERING LOSS HAPPENS RANDOMLY FEW TIMESA WEEK TO ONCE EVERY WEEK OR TWO. I RESEARCH THE VEHICLE RECALL HISTORY AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY CAR YEAR, MODEL AND TYPE, THE ISSUE IS CHEVY WONT COVER MY CAR RECALL SINCE ITS MANUFACTURED DATE IS JUST OUTSIDE THEIR SPECIFIED DATE FOR RECALL. I WOULD ARGUE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD COVER MY CAR SINCE IT FELLS UNDER RECALL YEAR, MODEL AND TYPE, IM ALMOST CERTAIN IT USES THE SAME PART WHICH CREATED THE PROBLEM.
