The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that upon removing the front passenger’s side floor mat he noticed that there was water leaking underneath the dash onto the floorboard and floor mat. Additionally, the A/C button control light was flickering. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the manufacturer's leak detection team would diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 71,800.

MY BRAND NEW, ONE MONTH OLD TRUCK HAS EXCESSIVE PAINT CHIPPING. MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 4500 MILES AND I HAVE OVER 20 SPOTS WHERE MY PAINT IS CHIPPED OR PEELING. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE (SOME THAT WERE ABLE TO GET THE ISSUE RECALLED) WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO NOT FIND IT ACCEPTABLE AS PAINT SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 4 YEARS WITHOUT THE AMOUNT OF CHIPPING AND PEELING I'M EXPERIENCING. I HAVE CALLED JUST ABOUT EVERY DEALER WITHIN 80 MILES OF ME, THEY ALL TELL ME THEY UNDERSTAND THERE IS A PAINT ISSUE, BUT NONE OF THEM WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

SEE NHTSA ID NUMBER 10126955 MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER PIT5341C THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS FEATURE. 5 ADULTS WERE ON A SKI TRIP, 4 ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND ONE WAS DELAYED. NEITHER DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS NOTICED 1 WAS MISSING AND AND DEPARTED. THE ONE PASSENGER WAS LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND HANGING ON TO THE DOOR HANDLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OUT OF THE PARKING LOT! AFTER THIS EVENT, I WISH THE DOOR WOULD HAVE OPENED AND THE PASSENGER COULD HAVE JUMPED IN. THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE NOTICED AND LET THE PASSENGER IN, NO PROBLEM. AS THE ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE DRIVER, I WISH I COULD HAVE OPENED / UNLOCKED THE DOOR, HOWEVER THE TRUCK LOCKED IT AUTOMATICALLY (UNKNOWN TO THE DRIVER). IS THERE AN NHTSA REGULATION THAT REQUIRES DOORS TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY?
