I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY SUBURBAN; I HAVE A CRACK IN MY HARD PLASTIC DASHBOARD THAT BEGINS WHERE THE DASH STARTS AT THE WINDOW AND EXTENDS FORWARD TOWARDS THE DRIVER SEAT HALF WAY UP THE CURVE WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER IS. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE REPORTING THIS. THERE IS REALLY NO GOOD FIX OUTSIDE OF GETTING A NEW DASHBOARD FOR A LOT OF MONEY. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT SOMETHING THAT CRACKS, SUCH AS MY DASHBOARD THAT CANNOT BE FIXED AND MUST BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE CHROME IS PEELING OF BOTH FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES CAUSING SMALL MINOR CUTS. CHROME PEELING OFF OF INSIDE DOOR HANDLES HAS BECOME HAZARDOUS, WHICH CUT 2 OF MY FINGERS. I'M NOW AFRAID TO OPEN MY DOOR W/O GETTING CUT. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS AS A RECALL ITEM. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING HOME WHEN A PERSON RAN A RED LIGHT AND HIT US. WE WERE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION ABOUT 15 MILES AN HOUR AND THEY HIT THE FRONT PART OF OUR SUBURBAN. EVERYTHING WAS DAMAGED THE HOOD , AND EVERYTHING INSIDE THE HOOD SUSTAINED DAMAGE. THERE WAS A LIQUID THAT WAS LEAKING BUT I AM UNAWARE OF THE SUBSTANCE. THE PERSON THAT HIT US MUST HAVE BEEN GOING ABOUT 40-60 MILES AN HOUR. AFTER THEY FLED THE SEEN POLICE MENTIONED THAT THEIR AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. MY CONCERN WAS WHY OUR AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AS WELL. MY DAUGHTER AND I BOTH HIT OUR HEADS ON OUR SIDE WINDOWS. MY SON HAD SLIGHT INJURY MOSTLY FROM THE SEATBELT. MY SONS DOOR HAD TO BE OPENED FROM THE POLICE OFFICER ON THE SCREEN. MY BIGGEST CONCERN WAS ABOUT THE AIRBAGS AND ALSO THE ONSTAR DID NOT WORK AS WELL. *TR
THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES PULL OUT OF THE CAR BODY ON MY 2007 CHEVY LTZ SUBURBAN.. THE DESIGN APPEARS TO USE PLASTIC PLUGS THAT EITHER BREAK APART OR DETERIORATE, CAUSING THE DOOR HANDLES TO BREAK LOOSE WHEN GRABBED AND PULLED TO OPEN THE DOORS. MY HANDLES HAVE ALL BROKEN LOOSE AT THE FORWARD END OF THE HANDLE, WITH THE REAR END REMAINING ATTACHED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, THE FIRST OF WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN IN 2010. I BELIEVE I INITIALLY HAD THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THE RIGHT REAR DOOR HANDLES REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY (BEFORE 3 YEAR/36,000 MILES). I BELIEVE THAT A SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED TO THE FRONT RIGHT (PASSENGER) DOOR, POSSIBLY IN 2011, AND THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED IT WITHOUT CHARGE AS PART OF A GM ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECTIVE ITEM RECALL. RECENTLY, IN APRIL 2013, I AGAIN NOTICED THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE HAD BROKEN AGAIN. I JUST HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICING AT THE CHEVY DEALER, HOWEVER I WAS TOLD THAT THE MANAGER STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY (PROX $200) TO HAVE THE DOOR HANDLE REPLACED. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR AND WILL HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM WITH GM FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE DOOR HANDLE PROBLEM ON 2007 CHEVY SUBURBANS, AS WELL AS ON SIMILAR GM VEHICLES. THE DOOR HANDLE IS A VERY POOR DESIGN THAT GM SHOULD HAVE CORRECTED, AND HAVE REPLACEMENT HANDLES PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE TO CAR OWNERS. THIS IS MY THIRD SUBURBAN GOING BACK TO 1992, ALL OF WHICH HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SERIOUS DEFECTS. I TAKE CARE OF MY SUBURBAN, AND IT LOOKS ALMOST NEW HAVING ONLY 33,800 MILES. I AM SINGLE, AND ONLY OCCASIONALLY HAVE OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE CAR, WHO MAY USE THE OTHER DOOR HANDLES. THIS MEANS THAT ALL THE DOOR HANDLES HAVE NOT BEEN USED THAT OFTEN. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW IN THE ATTACHMENT OF THESE DOOR HANDLES TO THE CAR BODY. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED BY GM., AND REPLACEMENTS OFFERED OWNERS. *TR
THE DASH HAS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. ONE NEAR THE AIR BAG AND ONCE IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. I WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE DASH ON MY 2007 SUBURBAN CRACKED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IN FRONT OF THE INSTRUMENT BEZEL AREA. THIS SAME EXACT CRACK HAS APPEARED ON HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF SUBURBAN, TAHOE, YUKON, YUKON XL, AND SILVERADO TRUCKS FOR THIS VEHICLE CYCLE. ALSO ON OTHER SIMILAR DASH PANELS AN ADDITIONAL CRACK HAS APPEARED BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. RECENTLY GM HAS REDESIGNED THE DASH SO THAT IT WILL NOT CRACK IN THESE AREAS, BUT THEY HAVE FAILED TO ISSUE ANY SORT OF RECALL TO THE CURRENT OWNERS WITH DEFECTIVE DASHES AND FIX THE DASH THAT COULD POSE A SAFETY RISK IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR AUTOMATIC LIFT GATE WAS OPENED AND FELL DOWN, ABRUPTLY STRIKING THE CONTACT IN THE HEAD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SUPPORT STRUTS ON THE REAR LIFT GATE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,467. NOTICED A SMALL CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD NEAR AIRBAG. CRACK SPREAD AND NOW HAVE A TRIANGULAR SHAPED HOLE IN THAT SPOT. ANOTHER CRACK, MUCH LARGER, HAS NOW APPEARED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD DEVELOPED A CRACK WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS LOCATED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT THE CRACK MAY LEADS TO AN AIR BAG MALFUNTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE PARTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,164. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CRACK IN DASH AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DOOR. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING ON THE INSIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS LOCATED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS ABOUT THE AIRBAG POSSIBLY DEPLOYING INADVERTENTLY OR THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD DETACHING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR, INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS PEELED. MY SON LACERATED HIS FINGER ON THE PEELING CHROME PLATING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG GM OWNERS AND AN OBVIOUS POOR MANUFACTURE IN SEVERAL MODELS WITH A DEFINITE NEED TO REPLACE ALL THE INTERIOR HANDLES. THIS IS A HAZARD THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO YOUR ATTENTION ON OTHER MODELS AND I AM UNABLE TO SEE A RESOLUTION. IT APPEARS ALL THE INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN CLOSED. *TR
THE CHROME ON FRONT PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IS PEELING OFF, CREATING A SHARP EDGE THAT I HAVE CUT MYSELF ON WHEN OPENING THE DOOR. OTHER PASSENGERS HAVE CUT THEMSELVES ON IT AS WELL. *TR
FINGER CUT FROM SHARP CHROME PEALING FROM INSIDE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE ON 2007 CHEVY SUBURBAN LTZ MODEL. BOTH MY WIFE AND SON HAVE RECEIVED DEEP, PAINFUL PAPER TYPE CUTS FROM THIS PROBLEM. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE FOR FREE BECAUSE OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
CUT FINGER ON DOOR OF 2007 SUBURBAN DUE TO FAILURE OF PLASTIC CHROME ON INTERIOR DRIVER DOOR HANDLE. OTHER HANDLES IN CAR ARE ALSO FAILING. REPORTED TO DEALER AND THEY REPORTED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND FAILURES AS WELL AS OTHER CUT HANDS AND FINGERS WHICH SHOULD INDICATE A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
CHROME COATING ON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES PEELED AND PRESENTED A SHARP EDGE THAT CAUSED SEVERAL MINOR CUTS TO FINGERS ON VARIOUS DATES. *TR
CHROME ON DOOR HANDLES RAZOR SHARP EDGES AND CUT FINGERS AND HANDS! *TR
MY 5 YEAR OLD SON WAS HIT ON THE TOP OF HIS HEAD WITH OUR AUTOMATIC CLOSING CARGO DOOR ON OUR 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN WHEN THE RESISTANCE MECHANISM FAILED. INSTEAD OF GOING BACK UP AFTER MEETING SOME RESISTANCE THE CARGO DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE ON HIS HEAD RESULTING IN A GASH TO THE TOP OF HIS HEAD WHICH RESULTED IN 3 STAPLES TO THE TOP OF HIS HEAD. I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED GM AND IT HAS TAKEN THIS LONG TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE. THEY OFFERED TO PAY HIS MEDICAL EXPENSES, WHICH WERE ALREADY COVERED WITH OUR MILITARY INSURANCE, AND 300 FOR HIS PAIN AND SUFFERING. WE DECLINED THE 300 BECAUSE GM WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY EVEN GOING AS AFAR AS TO SAY THAT I MAY HAVE CAUSED THE DAMAGE BY PULLING HIM OUT FROM UNDER THE DOOR. WHEN I ASKED THE CLAIMS LADY IF I SHOULD HAVE THEN ALLOWED THE CARGO DOOR TO KEEP CLOSING ON MY SON'S HEAD SHE SAID I DON'T KNOW I WASN'T THERE. I WANT TO WARN OTHER PARENTS BECAUSE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN AND THE CARGO DOOR SHOULD NOT REQUIRE THAT MUCH PRESSURE BEFORE THE RESISTANCE MECHANISM WORKS---MY SON SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO REQUIRE 3 STAPLES TO THE TOP OF HIS HEAD! *TR
