TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK DID NOT RESPOND TO THE KEY FOB. WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS PRESSED, THE TRUNK OPENED AND CLOSED REPEATEDLY. ONCE THE TRUNK WAS CLOSED MANUALLY, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING IN THE VEHICLE REMAINED ILLUMINATED, WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT HAD TO TAKE THE CABLES OFF OF THE BATTERY AT THE END OF EACH DAY TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,967.
I AM REPORTING A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE WARNING MONITOR SENSOR SYSTEMS ON MY 2010 FORD EDGE. AS YOU MAY KNOW THERE IS A 'DOOR AJAR SENSOR' NOTIFICATION SYSTEM NOTIFYING THE DRIVER OF A DOOR BEING AJAR. THE PROBLEM IS THE SENSOR CONSTANTLY FAILS WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR OR SEEMS TO NOT BE AJAR. THERE ARE SEVERAL PROBLEMS WHEN THERE IS THE DISPLAY ONE: 'NOT SURE DOORS ARE LOCKED, ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE IS TRANSPORTING CHILDREN. 'CAN NOT LOCK THE CAR DOORS ' THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. ALSO, WITH THE GREAT INCREASE IN 'CAR JACKINGS', NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS MAKES THE FAMILY VERY VULNERABLE. 'NEXT, THE DISPLAY LEAVES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON PUTTING AN UNNECESSARY DRAIN ON THE CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS COULD ADVERSELY SAFETY OF THE OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CAUSING A FAILURE IN TRAFFIC. 'THE WARNING MESSAGE NEVER TIMES OUT AND COMPLETELY BLOCKS THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY PREVENTING OTHER WARNING MESSAGES OR THE SYSTEM BACK UP OBSERVATION FROM WORKING. FORD HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY PROBLEM.
VOTH TAIL LIGHT/TURN SIGNAL BULBS ARE MELTED IN THEIR SOCKETS AND THE SOCKETS THEMSELVES ARE BURNT
VEHICLE WAS PARKED...WENT TO START VEHICLE...BRIGHT LIGHT INDICATOR WAS ON DASHBOARD, UNABLE TO MOVE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK UNLESS MANUALLY DONE, WHEN VEHICLE STARTS ALL INDICATORS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL COMES ON, NOTICES UNDER THE COMPUTER OUTPUT ON INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATES A HOST OF PROBLEMS, SO BASICALLY THE COMPUTER HAS FAILED TO SOME NATURE CAUSING ERRORS TO SHOW. HAZARDS DON'T WORK, BRAKE AND TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL START AT LEAST UNTIL THE BATTERY IS DEAD FROM THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RUN IT OUT. HAD THIS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY TWICE THIS IS THE THIRD OCCURRENCE WITHOUT DETERMINATION OF PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR...I BELIEVE RESETTING THE COMPUTER IS THE ONLY OPTION BECAUSE DIAGNOSTICS RUN DO NOT INDICATE A KNOWN PROBLEM. MY BELIEF IS THAT AFTER 3 OCCURRENCES OF THIS THE COMMON DENOMINATOR IS A STRONG ELECTRICAL STORM OCCURRING PRIOR TO THE COMPUTER FAILING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN HIT BY LIGHTNING, BUT, THERE HAS BEEN HEAVY STRIKES AROUND OR NEAR THE VEHICLE THAT UPSET THE COMPUTER...JURY IS STILL OUT ON MY THEORY, BUT THIS IS WHAT I HAVE OBSERVED. *TR
MY 2010 FORD EDGE HAS STALLED ONCE WHILE DRIVING AND TWICE IN A ROW WHILE PARKED AT IDLE. DEALER SAYS NO ERROR CODES SHOW WHEN THEY DID A SYSTEM CHECK I REFUSE TO PUT MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THIS CAR UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED . *TR
SPEEDOMETER CAN NOT BE SEEN DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. COLOR AND HOOD OVER SPEEDOMETER MAKES DAYLIGHT VIEWING A TIME CONSUMING TASK THAT DETRACTS FROM DRIVER NORMAL RESPONSIBILITIES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN HE DISCOVERED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE DURING DAYLIGHT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD ADJUST THE LIGHTS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE FACT THAT HE WAS UNAWARE OF THE SPEED HE WAS TRAVELING DURING DAYLIGHT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,700.
2010 FORD EDGE LIMITED AWD CANNOT SEE THE SPEEDOMETER AT DUSK OR WHEN OVERCAST SKYS. CONTACTED FORD SERVICE CENTER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT REDESIGN THE CAR AND THAT THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. TRIED TO FIND OUT HOW TO KEEP THE SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS (ALL DASH LIGHTS) ON ALL THE TIME AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE DONE. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, MAINLY THE SPEEDOMETER, ON MY 2010 FORD EDGE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ UNDER SOME DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS. THE GAUGES ARE DARK GRAY BACKGROUND WITH BLACK NUMBER GRADUATIONS WHILE LIGHTS ARE OFF AND RED NEEDLE. ESPECIALLY DURING DAWN AND DUSK CONDITIONS WITH A CLOUDY SKY, SHORTLY AFTER SUN-UP AND SHORTLY BEFORE SUN-DOWN, WHILE SKY IS STILL QUITE BRIGHT AND ROADWAY IS DARKENING, AND YOUR DRIVING FACING THE SUN, THE SPEEDOMETER IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ. A QUICK GLANCE SHOWS ONLY THE RED NEEDLE WITH DARK BACKGROUND. IT TAKES CLOSE TO 5 SECONDS FOR EYES TO ADJUST BEFORE NUMBERS CAN BE READ AND YOU CAN SEE VEHICLE SPEED. SITUATION IS NOT IMPROVED WHEN LIGHTS ARE ON DURING THESE CONDITIONS. NUMBERS TURN FROM BLACK TO GREEN WITH ILLUMINATION AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH CONTRAST WITH GRAY BACKGROUND DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS TO IMPROVE CONDITION. ON RAINY DAYS WITH DARK ROAD CONDITIONS AND SKY IS SOMEWHAT BRIGHTER, THE SAME CONDITION EXISTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING TOWARDS THE SUN, EVEN THOUGH IT IS CLOUD COVERED. IT TAKES SO LONG FOR EYES TO ADJUST SO SPEEDOMETER CAN BE READ THAT YOU COULD RUN OFF THE ROAD OR INTO SOMEONE. ALSO, UNDER MOST DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS, THE METRIC SCALE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ, REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG YOU TRY TO FOCUS ON IT. *TR
2010 FORD EAGLE. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING DEFECTIVE GAUGES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE NOTICED IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE GAUGES WITH JUST A GLANCE. WHEN THE CONSUMER LOOKED DOWN AT THE GAUGES, IT WAS TOTALLY BLACK. SHE STATED SHE HAD TO BLINK FREQUENTLY TO GET HER EYES TO ACCOMMODATE TO THE DARKNESS OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. *JB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED WHILE DRIVING IN RAINY CONDITIONS, DURING DAY LIGHT HOURS WITH THE LIGHTS ON, THE GAUGE PANEL BECAME DIM. HELLO I DON'T WANT TO WASTE TIME GOING INTO DETAIL WITHOUT KNOWING WHETHER SOMEONE AT FORD WILL GET THIS...SO LET ME JUST SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN WITH FORD SINCE 1988 WHEN I BOUGHT A BRONCO. IN 1992, I BOUGHT AN EDDIE BAUER EXPLORER AND HAVE HAD EXPLORERS UP UNTIL THIS PAST YEAR WHEN I BOUGHT YOUR CROSSOVER, THE EDGE. IT IS A NICE CAR, RIDES NICELY BUT HAS A LOT OF ROAD NOISE THAT I DID NOT EXPERIENCE WITH THE EXPLORERS. MY BIGGEST CONCERN/PROBLEM IS THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS TUCKED DEEP INTO THE RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE DASH AND CAN NOT BE SEEN DURING MOST OF THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. SEEING IT DEPENDS ON HOW THE LIGHT IS COMING IN. I HAVE CAUGHT MYSELF GOING 80 AND NOT REALIZING IT SINCE THE DIAL IS JUST ONE BIG BLACK CIRCLE. DURING RAIN STORMS, THE LIGHTS COME ON, THE RED INDICATORS ARE LIT, BUT THE SPEED NUMBERS ARE LOST IN THE DARK. THIS, I BELIEVE, IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE CRUCIAL SPEED DIAL CAN NOT BE SEEN. I THINK THAT YOUR FORD ENGINEERS GOOFED ON THIS DESIGN. THE TACH ON THE LEFT SIDE IS ALWAYS VISIBLE....BUT NOT THE SPEEDOMETER. CAN YOU HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH HE WAS UNABLE TO VIEW THE SPEED ODOMETER. DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER IS ONLY ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER AT NIGHT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST THE CONTACT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON AUGUST 19, 2009. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
