ACCELERATING FROM TRAFFIC LIGHT, IN LEFT LANE, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR. MANAGE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED ENGINE. ALL APPEARED NORMAL. I MANEUVERED TO A ROAD WITH LESS TRAFFIC TO CONTINUE HOME. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN WITHIN A MILE. *TR
WHEN ON FREEWAY LOSES ALL THROTTLE HAVE TO COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTART. HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AT DEALERSHIP WITH A TOTAL COST OF 533.13. WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY? *TR
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT MY VEHICLE'S ACCELERATOR QUIT FUNCTIONING. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME WITHIN A 14 DAY PERIOD. TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF VIA THE KEY, WAITED 3 MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN. SAME THING. NEXT I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED 5 MINUTES AND THE THROTTLE BODY BEGAN FUNCTIONING AGAIN. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY CLEANED THE AFFECTED PART AND RE-INSTALLED IT. *TR
I WAS SETTING AT AN INTERSECTION PULLING OUT IN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND VEHICLE DIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IN THE PAST YEAR. AT TIMES WHEN I TRY TO STOP IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS STILL PULLING WITH FOOT COMPLETELY CLEAR OF ACCELERATOR. *TR
I STARTED ACCELERATING AFTER BEING AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A LIGHT. HALFWAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, THE THROTTLE LOST POWER AND I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY HAZARDS ON UNTIL I COULD GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. AS I APPLIED THE BREAKS AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN, IT STARTED SHAKING UNTIL I COULD PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. WHEN I RESTARTED THE ENGINE, IT TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL TO START BUT SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE AND WAS NOT SHAKING. AFTER WAITING FOR IT TO RUN WITHOUT PROBLEM, I SLOWLY ACCELERATED THE CAR TO CONTINUE MY COMMUTE. WITHIN 2 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN AND BOTH THE WRENCH LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ONCE AGAIN PULLED OVER, STOPPED THE CAR, AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER I RESTARTED THE CAR, I DROVE TO A GAS STATION WHO WAS ABLE TO HOOK UP THE ENGINE TO A COMPUTER SCANNER. THE TECHNICIAN CAME BACK WITH WHAT HE SAID WAS AN " O2 SENSOR CODE." HE CHECKED MY FLUIDS AND RESET THE COMPUTER TO TURN OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SAID I SHOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE THE 30 MILES HOME BUT SHOULD GET IT CHECKED OUT ASAP. WITHIN 20 MILES OF DRIVING, THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN. SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS RESET, THERE IS NO RECORD OF THE CODE THAT CAME UP, SO THE DEALER SPENT AN HOUR TRYING TO GET IT TO ACT UP BUT HAS HAD NO LUCK. THE SERVICE ADVISOR DID SAY THAT ALTHOUGH THEY CANNOT GET THE CAR TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM, THEY HIGHLY SUSPECT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
CAR DIED WHILE CROSSING FOUR LANE HIGHWAY- NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, ALMOST GOT HIT B Y SEMI SUPPOSE TO HAVE 60000 MILE WARRANTY ON DRIVE TRAIN FORD GARAGE SAID NO TO WARRANTY CLAIM. THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY IN THE EXPRESS LANE AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND GOT NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR. SHUT CAR OFF. TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WORKED. TOOK OFF AGAIN AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT THREE MILES DOWN THE ROAD. IT JUST CUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING. HAPPENED ABOUT 4 MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT IN THE SHOP. IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY.$291.91 FOR THE PARTS AND $296.0 FOR LABOR. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. MY CAR SHIFTED QUICKLY INTO A LOW GEAR AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING A POWERTRAIN FAILURE. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER OFF THE FREEWAY AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. IT WOULD START UP AGAIN, AND WE LIMPED INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS ABOUT 1/4 MILE AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE "THROTTLE BODY" AND INDICATED I WAS THE "THIRD ONE THIS WEEK". *TR
I WAS ON I80 HEADING WESTBOUND THROUGH LINCOLN. ALL THE SUDDEN I FELT A THUMP AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION. I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE (OF THREE LANE TRAFFIC) AND WAS SURROUNDED BY SEMI TRUCKS. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I CALLED AAA FOR A TOW AND TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. I WAS ADVISED THAT I HAD A STUCK THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAID THIS IS QUITE COMMON FOR THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER WARRANTY AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I HAD RECENTLY TAKEN AN 1800 MILE ROAD TRIP WITH MY CHILDREN THROUGH DALLAS AND HOUSTON. I AM SO GRATEFUL THIS DIDN'T OCCUR ON OUR TRIP. *TR
ACCELERATOR CEASED WORKING WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THIS WAS THE 3RD INSTANCE IN 2 MONTHS; HOWEVER, THE FIRST TIME THAT PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WAS REQUIRED TO CORRECT AT THIS POINT. REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
DRIVING THE TRUCK SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND JUST SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO START AND COAST OVER OUT OF TRAFFIC.TRUCK WOULD START AGAIN BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NO MORE THEN 5-10MPH AND SHUT OFF.VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SOUTHGATE FORD I WAS PUT IN A DANGEROUS POSITION ON THE ROAD.THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. ON TOP OF ALL OF THE SAME COMPLAINS OF THE SAME THING THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I HAVE TO PAY FOR WORK & PARTS TRUCK PASS MY WARRANTY LIMIT AND WOULD NOT HONOR MY FORD EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT FOR PARTS OR AARP DISCOUNT TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY PLUS ICAN PURCHASE ONLINE THE PARTS FROM FORD .SOUTHGATE WANTS TO CHARGE ME $476.54 FOR PARTS I CAN ORDER FROM FORDS THE PARTS MYSELF FOR $262.09 ONLINE. WHAT A SHAME CHECKIN THE OASIS RESULTS FOR MY VEHICLE I AM APPAULED THIS IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE KILLED FIRST BEFOE THIS IS ADDRESSED. *TR
WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE STOPPED. I WAS LEFT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH A CAR THAT WOULD BARELY MOVE. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER - THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR WAS ONLY OUT OF WARRANTY BY 1000 MILES. ENDED UP COMPROMISING ON PAYING $100. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS. THEY KNOW IT'S AN ISSUE. *TR
MY FORD ESCAPE WAS STOPPING MULTIPLE TIMES. IT WOULD STAY RUNNING IN VERY SLOW MOVEMENT UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER OUT OF TRAFFIC AND THEN IT WOULD SHUT DOWN. THEN WRENCH LIGHT WOULD BE LIT. I HAD THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING SIDE ROADS AND THE INTERSTATE. THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE. I FIRST TOOK IT TO A DEALER NEAR MY HOME AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WHEN THIS HAPPENED ONE MORNING ON THE INTERSTATE, I CALLED THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM AND TOOK IT IN. THEY CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY AND STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL, THEY STATED THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND THAT THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART. IT SEEMS THAT THESE WERE AN ISSUE AND THE COULD NOT RECEIVE FROM MANUFACTURE RIGHT AWAY DUE TO A RELEASE ISSUE. THEY FINALLY WERE ABLE TO OBTAIN ONE AND I HAD TO PAY $371.79 FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. EVEN THOUGH I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY THIS, FROM DOING RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURES ISSUE. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR WOULD RESULT IN THE CAR TO STALL. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC VEHICLE. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT INTO NEUTRAL TO RESTART CAR. THEN THE RPM WOULD JUMP THEN STALL AGAIN. I TOOK IN THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED AND FOUND CODE THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK CLOSED SO THE CAR WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE THROTTLE BODY BEING REPLACED. AFTER FIXED THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THE PROBLEM IS $500 LATER AFTER THE REPAIR AND THE CAR HAD NOT EVEN BROKE THE 50K YET. VERY BAD PROBLEM AND SEEMS A IF I AM NO THE ONLY ONE. AFTER LOOKING IT UP TO SEE IF I COULD GET THE PARTS MYSELF I SAW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF DIFFERENT FORD VEHICLES AT THE SAME TIME IN THE SAME RANGE OF YEARS. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND JUST GLAD THE KIDS WEREN'T IN THE CARS AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR
ENGINE SPEED BECAME UNSTEADY, RISING AND FALLING DESPITE STEADY, EVEN PRESSURE ON THROTTLE PEDAL. SOON AFTER, THE ENGINE WOULD DIE AFTER RETURNING TO IDLE FOLLOWING A STOP. NOT LONG AFTER THAT, UNSTEADY ENGINE SPEED BECAME MORE NOTICEABLE BOTH AT IDLE AND WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THE VEHICLE WENT TO IDLE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS SWITCHED OFF AND RESTARTED. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. OUR DEALER SAYS THEY CANT DIAGNOSE UNLESS THEY HAVE THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS IN IDLE ONLY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY OUT OF NOWHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE THROTTLE STOPPED WORKING. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND STILL NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND RAN FINE O THE WAY HOME. 2 DAYS LATER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK AGAIN AND DROVE FINE BUT ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED 7 TIMES! AFTER THE 4TH TIME IT HAPPENED ON THE WAY HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON EVEN THOUGH THE THROTTLE CAME BACK AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE BACK ON. STOPPED AT THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE TO GET THE CODE AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED. THE FACT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED THAT MANY TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY IS A REAL DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD WAY. *TR

THIS ISSUE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS . I HAVE FOUND OVER 2 HUNDRED REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM UPON FIRST TRY AND I WAS USING 2011 ESCAPE . IHAVE SINCE BECOME AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS MULTIPLE MODELS AND YEARS. FORD TALKS ABOUT SAFE MODE? HOW SAFE IS A 5 MPH OR LESS VEHICLE IN A 70 MPH BELT WAY????? HOW ABOUT A 1 MINUTE TO STALL MODE??? OR GET OFF THE ROAD NOW?? IT WOULD APPEAR THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND MORE CONCERNED AS TO THE ONES THAT ARE IN WARRANTY!!! IN OTHER WORDS PROTECT THE ENGINE LET THE PASSENGER FEND FOR THEMSELVES. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS. WENT TO FORD THEY SUGGESTED APPOINTMENT, 1 WEEK WAS FIRST AVAILABLE, IF PROBLEM IS THROTTLE BODY PART MAY BE ON BACK ORDER, LOVELY, *TR
VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STALLED, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, NO ACCELERATOR PEDAL. DANGEROUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC, LEAVING DRIVER STRANDED. FORCED TO CALL FOR TOW TRUCK AND HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO STEER VEHICLE TO RELATIVELY SAFE LOCATION. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. E-MAILED FORD, BUT NO RESPONSE AT THIS TIME. *TR
ENGINE LOST POWER BUT DID NOT DIE. IT WOULD STILL CREEP ALONG ABOUT 2 MPH. THE GEAR LIGHT WAS SHOWING ON THE DASH. THE OBD CODE WAS READ BY A LOCAL AUTO PARTS SHOP AS P2112 -- THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK CLOSED. RECOMMENDED ACTION FROM FORD WAS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I PURCHASED THE PART FROM A LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR $324 PLUS TAX AND INSTALLED MYSELF. PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A MAYOR HIGHWAY A 65/70 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE, COASTED TO THE SIDE, AN ORANGE WRENCH SIGN AND CHECK ENGINE SIGN APPEAR ON THE DASH,AFTER TURNING VEHICLE ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL, THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF, THE FIRST TIME DEALER CLAIMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND CHARGED ME $ 74.95 FOR A" THROTTLE BODY SERVICE" ( THANK YOU HEMBORG FORD - NORCO, CALIFORNIA ) TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER A YEAR LATER 7-23 2013 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ETB (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ( SAME PART THAT I PAID $74.95 TO HAVE IT "CLEANED" BEFORE) NOW THIS VEHICLE MISFIRE AND JERKS ON TAKE OFF FROM A DEAD STOP. I CALL FORD, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOT AN SERVICE CALL OR RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. *TR
DRIVING HOME ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH. SUDDENLY ENGINE SEEMED TO LOOSE POWER AND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. PUSHING DOWN ON ACCELERATOR HAD NO EFFECT. FINALLY ENGINE DIED. RESTARTED ENGINE BUT CAR ONLY JERKED AND JOLTED AS IT TRIED TO GO FORWARD. ENGINE DIED AND RESTARTED A COUPLE MORE TIMES, THEN DIDN'T WANT TO RESTART AT ALL. WARNING LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED AN ORANGE WRENCH. A CITY PATROLMAN CAME SOON AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AS IT WAS DARK AND WE WERE ON A NARROW SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. HE SAID WE WERE IN A DANGEROUS PLACE. AFTER REPAIRS AT FORD DEALER, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A FAILED THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS THE SECOND FORD ESCAPE IN OUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY TO INCUR THIS THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM/FAILURE IN JUST A FEW SHORT MONTHS. THE OTHER ONE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. *TR
THE FUEL THROTTLE BODY FAILED & THE ENGINE DIED. PULLED OFF THE ROAD & RESTARTED THE ENGINE, WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME, (10 MILES). *TR
