MY ISSUE IS WHAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED ABOUT - THE SHIFTING IS EXTREMELY ROUGH, TO THE POINT IT'S NOW UNDRIVABLE AND UNSAFE. THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAVE JUST COME ON, ALTHOUGH THE SLIPPING OF GEARS HAS GONE ON FOR QUITE A WHILE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. MOST PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND $3-4K TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A DRY, PAVED ROAD, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ACTIVATED WHILE PASSING AND THE VEHICLE'S RPMS FLUCTUATED BETWEEN 500 AND 2000 WITH BARELY ANY ENGINE POWER. VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF, TURNED BACK ON AGAIN, AND APPEARED TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THROUGH TESTING THEY IDENTIFIED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE HAD MELTED SEVERAL ENGINE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS. BEFORE REPLACING THE MODULE, ALL NEW SPARK PLUGS AND ENGINE COILS WERE ADDED AND THE CAR WAS STARTED UP. IT EXHIBITED THE SAME BEHAVIOR BEFORE THE COILS AND PLUGS WERE REPLACED, AND FOR THE BRIEF TIME IT WAS ACTUALLY ON, IT MELTED ANOTHER NEW COIL. TSB FOR THE 07 FUSION WAS CONFIRMED AND THE PCM WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH ALL NEW COILS. PCM WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER FOR REPROGRAMMING. REPLACEMENT AND REPROGRAMMING OF PCM AND ALL 6 COILS AND SPARK PLUGS FIXED THE ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 84K MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

MY CAR ROLLS BACK ON A SLIGHT SLOPE AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE. I WAS WAITING TO PULL OUT ONTO THE ROAD. WHY DOES IT MATTER HOW MANY MILES ARE ON THE CARE. IF MY CAR ROLLS BACK AND HITS A CAR IT SHOULDNT MATTER HOW MANY MILES ARE ON THE VEHICLE. IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM I WOULD FALL BACK ONTO FORD MOTOR COMPANY.

THE SHIFTING KNOB AND THE LINK ROD TO THE TRANSMISSION CAME OUT PREVENTING THE SHIFT LEVER FROM CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION GEARS AS DESIRED. I FOUND IF I PUSH THE UNIT BACK IN THE HOLE AND HOLD A DOWNWARD PRESSURE ON THE KNOB IT WILL OPERATE. HOWEVER IF YOU TOUCH THE KNOB WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT INTO LOW RANGE CAUSING A JERK TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS PERTINENTLY BAD ON SNOW COVERED SURFACES. I FOUND THERE IS A RECALL ON 2017 FUSION FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM THE RECALL NUMBER IS 17S36. SAYING THIS SITUATION MAY RESOLVE IN A INJURY OR AN ACCIDENT. NOTICING MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH FORD AWD PRODUCTS; CALLED FORD MOTOR CO TO ASK FOR RECALL/REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE I TAKE GREAT CARE OF THE VEHICLE AND FEEL THIS IS A FLAW, NOT A RESULT OF NEGLECT OR MISUSE. AFTER AN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE THE CODE READ. THE CODE THAT APPEARED WAS FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY FOR THE FORD FUSION FROM 2009 -2012. MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT MY THROTTLE BODY ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP IS "ERRATIC". I FEEL THAT THE RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY MAY NEED TO BE REEXAMINED AS MY CAR, ONLY TWO YEARS OLDER THAN THOSE BEING RECALLED, IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE PART SHOULD NOT GO BAD THAT QUICKLY. VEHICLE IS A DAILY DRIVE, EXPERIENCED TSB 13-4-17, PCM FAILURE CAUSING THE IGNITION COILS TO BURN OUT ON CYLINDER 4. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, AT A COST OF OVER $2000. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD A HOWL AND VIBRATION, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED AS A TRANSFER CASE (PTU) FAILURE, THIS WAS A FEW DAYS AFTER LEAVING THE FORD DEALERSHIP. MY LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE PTU AT A COST OF $1000. VEHICLE WAS FINE FROM NOVEMBER 2013 TILL JUST THIS PAST WEEK MARCH 6 2014 WHERE A LEAK OF GEAR OIL WAS FOUND IN THE DRIVEWAY, CAR WAS BROUGHT TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH CONFIRMED A LEAK OF THE SEAL ON THE TRANSFER CASE (PTU). VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO LOCAL MECHANIC THAT MADE THE REPAIR. I FIND IT UNBELIEVABLE THAT SINCE THIS VEHICLE HAS HIT 100K MILES THAT IT IS IN NEED OF CONSTANT REPAIR. I HAVE OWNED MANY FORDS AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THESE ARE COMMON PROBLEMS!! FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!! SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS MY 2007 FORD FUSION SE V6 WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. ENGINE WOULD REMAIN RUNNING BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WRENCH LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THIS OCCURS. SOLUTION IS TO PULL OVER AND SHUT CAR COMPLETELY OFF FOR 30 SECONDS AND RESTART. SOMETIMES THIS WOULD WORK FOR A FEW MINUTES OR SEVERAL 1000 MILES BEFORE REPEATING AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO THE FORD DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUES FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE AT FORD WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER WITH ALL OF THIS INFORMATION AND WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WOULD TAKE WEEKS TO GET AND THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART IS THE EXACT OEM PART WHICH HAS THE SAME DEFECT. FORD WANTS ME TO PAY TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART WITH A DEFECTIVE PART. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOSING POWER IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC THE RISK OF A CRASH IS EVEN MORE OF A CONCERN. THROTTLE BODY ISSUE - CONFIRMED SINCE I JUST SPENT $930.00 AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE. WIFE GOT IN CAR AT MALL. FIRST CAR WOULD NOT START LOOSE CONTACT ON TERMINAL. SHE CALLED ME I JIGGLED WIRE, CAR STARTED BUT YOU COULD PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN AND ONLY VERY SLIGHT POWER (WRENCH LIGHT ON...). SHE PARKED THE CAR AS IT WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 3 MILES AN HOUR AND I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR TO SEE IF IT WOULD DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT. HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO PLANET FORD DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAD HAPPENED ONE WEEK EARLIER BUT WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE IT RAN FINE. I HAD A MECHANIC DO THE CODES THE FIRST TIME AND IT WAS THROTTLE BODY AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP DID IT THE SECOND TIME. *JS

LOSS OF POWER, CAR WOULD NOT GO, STUCK IN BUSY TRAFFIC, SHIFTS VERY HARD TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT TREE OR FOUR TIMES NOW. CALLED DEALER THEY SAY THEY ARE UNAWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT IT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET EVERYONE HAVING PROBLEMS. TOOK IT IN BUT COST ME 400 BECAUSE OF COURSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. REPROGRAMMED MY TRANSMISSION BUT NOW SHIFTS AT A HIGHER RPM CAUSING LOWER FUEL MILEAGE. THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODIES GOING BAD BECAUSE THIS WAS A COLLABORATION WITH MAZDA. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH AND WITHIN A MINUTE THE ENGINE QUIT AND COULDN'T BE RESTARTED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE HAD THE SAME FAULT AS IDENTIFIED IN NHTSA TSB-13-4-17. THE PCM UNIT FAILED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO MULTIPLE ON-PLUG IGNITION COILS. I BELIEVE THAT THE FORD TSB # FOR THIS PROBLEM IS 06-18-15. THIS IS A 6-CYLINDER ENGINE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN AND COMPLETE ONSET OF LOSS OF POWER. *TR

THE ENGINE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. SHE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CALLED ME TO COME HELP.WHEN I GOT THERE THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE IT HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT I WAS TOLD THAT OTHER FUSIONS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND SOME OF THE OWNERS HAVE ELECTED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE FOR SAFETY. WHILE PASSING ANOTHER CAR MY CAR LOST POWER.I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING HAPPEN. I WAS ALMOST HIT HEAD ON BY ANOTHER ON COMING CAR. MY CERTIFIED FORD MECHANIC SAID IT MAY BE MY THROTTLE AND I SHOULD REPLACE IT BUT HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE THIS WOULD SOLVE MY PROBLEM.
