IN MY FORD MUSTANG AND MANY OTHER FORD MUSTANG THTA IV COME ACROSS FROM THE 2005-2007 ERA THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAVE A SLIPPING PROBLEM. WHEN U STOP AND TRY TO CHANGE GEARS THE CAR STUTTERS AND EVEN TAKE UP TO 4 SEC TO CHANGE GEAR EVEN WHEN THE DRIVER ONLY USES THE CAR AS AN EVERYDAY COMUTE. NO RACING, DRIFTING OR HEAVE PRESSEURE PUT ON THE TRANSMISSION YET THEY STILL GO BAD AND START TO SLIP CONSISTANTLY EVEN WHEN THE CAR DOESNT HAVE ALOT OF MILES ON IT. MOST OF THE TIME LESS THAN 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING RUBBER FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED HARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD BROOKSVILLE (7200 BROAD ST, BROOKSVILLE, FL 34601) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE PAST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

WHILE MY CAR WAS IN PARK, I SWITCH GEARS AND THE GEAR BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF, AND MY CAR HESITATED THEN JUMP INTO REVERSE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 30-35 MY CAR HESITATES TO GO ABOVE THE MILEAGE, I TOOK MY CAR TO GET THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED OUT BUT THEY TOLD ME I HAD NO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. BUT MY CAR IS CONTINUING TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING MORE FREQUENT. *TR

MY CAR STARTED JERKING WHEN I PUT IN REVERSE AND DRIVE. WHILE DRIVE I HEAR A RATTLING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE GEAR SHIFT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD A LOOSE SOLENOID BOX AND THAT IT NEEDED TIGHTENING FOR $900. ALSO AT LOWER SPEEDS I FEEL THE CAR SLIPPING ESPECIALLY ON TURNS. *TR
THE CLUTCH ON THE CAR BEGAN TO SLIP AT ABOUT 22,500 MILES. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND PRESENTED A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. I AM THE SOLE DRIVER ON THE CAR AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING STICK SHIFTS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. THERE IS NO REASON OTHER THAN DEFECT THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. IT SUBSEQUENTLY COST ME OVER $1200 TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. *TR
#1: ENGINE RPM DOES NOT STAY AT IDLE WHILE IN NEUTRAL (5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION) IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. #2: WHILE IN GEAR AND NOT PRESSING ON ACCELERATOR, THE CAR CONTINUES AT A STEADY SPEED. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS OFF. *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE THE CAR LOST POWER MOMENTARILY AND THEN RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. WITHIN A FEW MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A FLAT TIRE. UPON BEGINNING TO MOVE TO SIDE OF ROAD, TAPPED BRAKES AND VEHICLE BEGAN ROCKING, SHAKING AND SCREAMING WITH METAL ON METAL NOISE. VEHICLE WAS ROCKING FRONT TO BACK AND FISHTAILING SIDE TO SIDE. VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND HAD NO BRAKES. UPON DISENGAGING BRAKE, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MAKE METAL ON METAL NOISE, BUT WAS COASTING WITH LITTLE STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE ONTO AN EXIT RAMP, BUT UPON NEARING THE END OF THE RAMP I HAD TO TAP BRAKES AGAIN CAUSING CAR TO SKID SIDEWAYS, LOCK UP AND VIOLENTLY COME TO A STOP. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE I SAW A LARGE PART OF THE CAR ON THE GROUND, GLOWING ORANGE. THIS PROVED TO BE THE DRIVE SHAFT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL DISINTEGRATED CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE REAR END, REAR DRIVER SPRING, DRIVE SHAFT AND OTHER COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THIS WAS SUCH A VIOLENT INCIDENT IT CAUSED THE CLAMP WHICH HOLDS THE DRIVE SHAFT IN PLACE TO BE RIPPED FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED A HOLE, WHICH NEEDED TO BE WELDED, TO OCCUR. OLD PARTS WERE CONFISCATED TO BE RETURNED TO FORD FOR REVIEW. *JB
2006 MUSTANG GT 4,445 MILES TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. WOULD NOT REPLACE WITH NEW HAD CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS. *JB
TWO INCIDENTS- ONE OCTOBER 27, 2006 -TRANSMISSION QUIT ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY 47 MILES ON VEHICLE SECOND - DECEMBER 23, 2006 - UNINTENDED ACCELERATION - COMPUTER FAILURE CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE. *NM
TRAVELING ON SATURDAY EVENING ON 2/4/06, ROADS SOMEWHAT SLICK, SNOW TURNING TO BLACK ICE ON ROAD. LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE ON BLACK ICE DOING 30-35 MPH ON RESIDENTIAL STREET. CAR FISH TAILED HIT CURB WITH RIGHT REAR, WHICH SPUN CAR INTO ROADWAY, HIT RIGHT FRONT ON OPPOSITE CURB. CAR UNDER CONTROL AFTER THAT. LOST RIGHT REAR TIRE / WHEEL ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF THE AXLE-AT INITIAL IMPACT- HOWEVER NO DAMAGE TO TIRE, RIM SLIGHT DENT. AFTER ACCIDENT LOOKED AT AXLE-SEEMED POROUS, CONCERNED...POOR QUALITY, POOR MANUFACTURING. CONTACTED INSURANCE, TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALER. WAITING FOR ADJUSTER TO LOOK AT VEHICLE. *JB
