Car accident on 6/21/2023 - Richardson Texas Air bags never deployed. The truck hit a tree head on . The air bags were maintainced at the Ford dealership a couple of years ago when we got the recall notice Passanger air bag never deployed

Several attempts have been made to attain an appointment to remedy this recall with a local dealership (Long-Lewis) in Corinth, MS. As of today, I have made six attempts to talk with service about this recall, no response has yet been offered. My concern is that I have been driving this vehicle since I purchased new in February 2008 with a potential grenade imitating an air bag and Ford Motor company and or their dealerships do not seem to take this concern seriously. Why is the Federal government (NHSTA) so passive about safety?

Recently purchased this truck and apparetly the passeenger air bag was missing or had previosly failed by imploding. I do not now the history of vehicle. I Carried the truck to Rockwall Ford in Rockwall, Texas to have the air bag recall taken care off. After being there for a week the service manager called me and said Ford would not pay for this since passenger air bag was missing. Ford said I would need to pay for the service myself. I have a major problem with Ford now because they are obligated by law to repace the air bags regardless any of prior events. Priors are totally irrevelant and meaningless. End result I want Ford Motor Company to replace the 2 air bags a no cost to me the consumer. A dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Miller Ford Lakewood (11595 W 6th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215) and Phil Long Ford (1114 Motor City Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80905) were contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. TAKATA RECALL -- WE RECEIVED A LETTER THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON OUR TRUCK FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (HASSETT FORD) FRIDAY, JANUARY 5 TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED. HE WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND HAD NO IDEA WHEN THEY WOULD RECEIVE THEM. THEY SAID TO CALL FORD DIRECTLY. MY HUSBAND TRIED THE 800 NUMBER TO NO AVAILABLE.

TRUCK HAD BEEN UNDER RECALL FOR 1 YEAR PRIOR TO PURCHASE. NOT INFORMED OF RECALL WHEN I PURCHASED VEHICLE FOUND OUT WHEN I BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE AT 5000 MILES AND TOLD IT WOULD BE REPAIRED WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE THIS WAS IN OCT 2017. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD JAN.2018 NOT TO HAVE A PASSENGER IN TRUCK UNTIL AIR BAG IS REPLACED AND PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING OF 2018. I HAVE TO TAKE A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE OR IT IS WORTHLESS TO ME DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN'T DEACTIVATE THE AIR BAG AND WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE. WHY WON'T YOU ALLOW FORD TO DEACTIVATE DEFECTIVE SAFETY EQUIPMENT THAT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE DEATH. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO CONTINUE TO USE THE VEHICLE AND TAKE A PASSENGER AT TIMES IT WOULD BE SAFER IF THE AIRBAG WAS DEACTIVATED AND I CAN NOT AFFORD TO BUY A TRUCK TO USE IN THE MEANTIME OR TO RENT ONE AND LET MINE ROT IN THE DRIVEWAY. 2 YEARS FOR REPAIR OF A SAFETY ISSUE IS RIDICULOUS AND THE BURDEN SHOULD NOT BE PLACED ON THE CONSUMER BECAUSE A SUPPLIER OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURED FAULTY EQUIPMENT.

TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED 1ST RECALL JULY 2017 FOR PASSENGER AIRBAG. HAVE REPEATEDLY TRIED TO GET FORD TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH NO SUCESS AND ALSO TOLD THE PROBLEM IS ONLY IN HIGH HUMIDIY AREAS. DECEMBER 2017 RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM EXCEPT NOW AM ADVISED NOT TO HAVE ANY PASSENGERS RIDE IN THE TRUCK. TODAY I HEARD OF ANOTHER FATALITY BUT IN A 2006 RANGER WITH ONLY 1 WEEK'S PRODUCTION TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THESE SPECIFIC TRUCKS. THIS FLYS IN THE FACE OF COMMON SENSE. FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO SEQUESTER ALL AFFECTED RANGERS AND PROVIDE FREE LOANERS OR EQUITABLE REPURCHASE. I NOW HAVE A RANGER WITH LESS THAN 50,000 THAT I AM FEARFULL TO USE; YOUR AGENCY SHOULD DEMAND THIS!

I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY FORD ABOUT THIS RECALL. ON THE NHSTA WEBSITE IT STATES THAT IF THEY DO NOT NOTIFY MY WITHIN A TIMELY MANNER TO MAKE REPAIRS ON THE VEHICLE, THAT I SHOULD LOG A COMPLAINT. I AM UNSURE THE STEPS I SHOULD GO ABOUT GETTING THIS FIXED AND IF FORD WILL HANDLE THE REPLACEMENT. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE HELPFUL

TAKATA INFLATORS. DESPITE MY BEING NOTIFIED THAT FORD WOULD REPLACE AIRBAG(S) THROUGH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND DESPITE MY REPEATED CALLS TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, THERE HAS BEEN ZERO RESPONSE. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT HAS BEEN WAITING FOR PARTS, IE, DEFECTIVE AIRBAG REPLACEMENTS, SINCE LAST QUARTER, WHICH IS WHEN FORD APPARENTLY TOLD DEALERSHIP THEY WOULD GET THEM. DEALERSHIP HAS NOT GOTTEN ANY AIRBAG REPLACEMENTS FOR MY RANGER. PEOPLE HAVE DIED. PEOPLE ARE CONTINUING TO DIE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS AIRBAG THAT IS KILLING PEOPLE MUST BE FIXED BY FORD ASAP.
