A/C refrigerant leaking/ A/C not working.
My AC system would not blow cold and the blower made a noise. Dealer replaced condenser under extended warranty in May 2023. Same problem is occurring now less than 9 months later. Recently moved to Florida where air conditioning is a must have. Taking car to dealership tomorrow. Bottom line - Honda replaced original faulty condenser under warranty last year but unit has failed again.
My AC system stopped working and when checked it was a faulty AC condenser that was on recall. So the dealer fixed it for free then about 4 months later my air blows only hot again. Went back to get it checked and now they are saying the evaporator core needs to be replaced and charged me $2600 to fix. Seems fishy and I feel if one component is failing the whole system should be covered under an extended warranty.
Paint is completely flaking off down to the metal along the edges around the rear window on roof, driver quarter panel, and passenger quarter. It has been flaking for 2 years now. I bought the car in 2017 brand new.
I am adding to the long list of duplicate AC complaints. I had cold air on the passenger side and hot air on the driver side. I brought in my vehicle to the dealership in response to two AC component recalls. I was informed the compressor, evaporator and condenser ALL had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They would ONLY cover the condenser and quoted $4,400 for additional repairs.
A/C was not working as a result of condenser (covered by warranty) and evaporator (not covered by warranty.). Considered a safety hazard due to unusually hot summer where heat related dangers could be caused without A/C. I found myself driving in 110 degree weather in a 45 minute commute where I felt nauseous after. The a/c is a common problem for many 2016 and later Hondas. My vehicle was inspected by dealer and an independent mechanic (separate incident). No warning of this happening other than a hissing noise coming from A/c and then hot air blowing.
Driver side AC is not working
For several months, I was facing an issue with being able to lock and unlock my car properly. You could hear the mechanisms in the car trying to respond when I would press my key fob or the buttons inside the car but the locks themselves would not move. I would either need to use my physical car key to manually lock or unlock the door. Or if i was in the vehicle, i would manually unlock the driver door and then re-lock it. The problem seemed to start out of nowhere. The dealer confirmed the problem and said it was related to the door lock actuator. In two of the doors, the actuators had failed and in the other two they were on their way to failing. I had all four replaced which was a large and unexpected expense. But the ability to get in and out of the car safely and know that it is safely locked to prevent theft is very important. I did send a letter to Honda corporate about this problem and I felt this was a very strange part to stop working on a car that was brought brand new 6 year sago.
Unsure of when happened but cvt filler cap keeps blowing out for no reason causing transmission fluid to leak every where.
Ed morse changed my push to start button and now my car has a body control module. Which draining my battery every day. Now I've changed the battery 6 times. I'm left with the parts being on back order. Ed morse service manager told me the parts came in and they were trying to reach me which was a lied because when I showed up they told me they don't have it now they nor sure when the parts are coming. The parts are on back order in japan.
The air conditioning only blows cold on the passenger side. This appears to be.a known issue.
In 2017 a Honda civic was brought, 2 weeks later AC problems started. Vehicle was returned for repairs requested by a senior dealership personnel. Problems continued with same issue and not fixed. Recent recalls of the AC Compressor and other AC defects of this vehicle has been denied several times (up till now). Honda has repeatedly denied claim to resolve this issue when it has been acknowledged that the original AC systems in most of these vehicles are defective. Vehicle is very hot especially in these very high and hot temperature conditions.
Keyless entry problem on my car. I was unable to get into my car and when I used the key from the fob to enter the car, the car wouldn't start. I was stranded and needed to call for help. The car was jumped and started again to get it back to my house. In the morning, the car wouldn't start again so was towed to a local mechanic in my town called Desert Dawg and they were able to start the car again and it drove for about a week and then the same problem happened. They put in a new battery and worked again for about a week. The car then would start but wouldn't shut off without disconnecting the battery. Then one night the car just started beeping uncontrollably and the car would not shut off the beeping and key fob not recognized. Towed back to Desert Dawg and said it was a keyless entry problem but the part he needed to fix it was on National Shortage and could take 7 months or more to get the part. He told me to take it to the Honda Dealership to see if they could help me. Car towed again to Honda dealership and they said it was a keyless entry problem and the part called a body control module with Part number: 38809-TBC-A31 was on back order and on National shortage and the part may not arrive for 7 months or longer or never. I now have no car to get to work. I called the Honda Corporation and got the same answer of this part being on national shortage. How can people be left stranded. I live in Arizona and the temperatures get very hot and people could die if their car doesn't start. Please address this issue. thanks.
AC component: Condenser and Evaporator (issue is systematic as it's creating issues to Freon) Current RECALL is only for Condenser but it's systematic to Evaporator (faulty part that has failed); I believe Honda is circumventing the cost to repair and is revealing only condenser part failure vs taking ownership on full AC component (if one fail the other will too). Reading blog, reddit, and many other complaints, outside repair shop says finding will still cost consumers $2,000 to fix evaporator caused by part failure. Issues still exist in honda model 2016-2019 and alarming rate of consumers venting the poor quality of the AC component. Honda quality control has not rendored and technician is having consumer fix parts that is near the area (systemic) to known faulty part. Ac blowing hot air
AC evaporator core failure. It appears Honda Civic has AC problems. This is the second time the AC has stopped working.
AC does not work! It only blows hot air. It gets very hot in the car, even with all the windows rolled down. Also, gas cap is broken. Does not close all the way and sticks out. So therefore it no longer locks. Thought my gas was possibly getting stolen, but there was no changes to my gas.
While driving down the highway we heard a horrible grinding sound. We pulled over and looked under the car. The engine sheild was dragging. We took it to the dealer and it was replaced at a cost of $405.03. Today 339 days after the part was replaced and 16,000 miles after the replacement the same thing happened. This time the shield actually fell off in the middle of the road. So we are going to replace it again. I was curious about if this was a common problem and it is. Often it occurs after an oil change when the mechanic fails to secure the shield properly. And often at honda dealers. Seems fishy to me. What can we do about this? Am i going to have to replace the shield every year?
I purchased a 2017 Honda Civic LX from a local Honda. 10 minutes after leaving the dealership, the TPMS lights came on. Please note it was cold outside. Took the car to Autozone to have codes read. Code c0077-78 was detected. Once I got home, I checked the tire air pressure and the tire air pressure was low. I added air to tire afterward. I reset the TPMS and the TPMS light went away. The next day, the light came on for a few seconds after I started the car, but the light disappeared again. I didn't check the air pressure. I took it to Autozone to see if any codes were detected, but no codes were detected and all systems were functional.
2017 Honda Civic with 15K milage - A/C broke down for the second time after I had it’s condenser replaced at the dealership in 2019 due to cracks/holes. I took it to the dealership few days ago and they told me it costs $509.00 for diagnosis. Took it somewhere else to recharge it but it only lasted 2 days and we’re back to blowing warm air but what’s interesting is that the passenger side’s vent blows slightly cooler air than the driver side! I took it to many auto repair places and I was told many times that 2016-2019 models have faulty A/C which Honda knows about but won’t issue a recall. I hope these complaints lead to a formal investigation.
I got a new Honda Civic last 2017. My car air conditioning has not been working for the past months. When I started have it fix, I called different car repair shop in Orange County for the past months. They always asked me about my car model and year and every time I give it to them they turned me down from shop like Firestone, pepboys, and several of their branch and even small repair shop. I went to Honda service but they charge me too much I can’t afford. Luckily my car was accepted for AC repair in one of Pepboys branch. They assessed and recharge my car AC but less than a month AC is not working I brought it back after they say a lot of problem and charging me too much. I just need a working AC for my car. Please help me have my car fix fairly in this difficult time.
Cooling issue. Air conditioning not cooling down. Coolant and freon full. No one knows why the car ac wont work above 80°f. One side of car is semi cool other not at all blows hot air.
This complaint is specifically about the A/C Evaporator in my Honda Civic. After taking my car in for the 2nd time in about 13 months (to the Honda Dealership), the A/C system appears to be faulty on my vehicle. After online research, it appears that this is very common issue for many 2016-2019 Honda Civic models and it’s hard to imagine the company isn’t aware. Thus far, the company has offered to cover the Condenser issue (after the company was in a class action lawsuit) but will not cover the A/C Evaporator, which costs over $2000. Given the recent heat waves, the safety of myself and my passengers are potentially compromised until this issue is fixed, especially those with disabilities. It would be highly appreciated if this matter is investigated and resolved for all Honda Civic owners. Thank you!
2017 Honda Civic the AC stopped cooling in the middle of summer in summer California where the temperature is regularly above 110 degrees. An AC failure in this area IS a safety issue. After paying $289 for diagnosis they said the evaporator is leaking. The warranty was extended for all 2017 Honda Civics for leaks of the condenser. They also have similar complaints for the compressors. We have 3 other older Hondas that have never had an evaporator start leaking and when we said that to the service tech, he said that newer Hondas are less reliable. This is at a Honda dealership, so it's quite the sales pitch for buying a new Honda. It seems obvious that the 2017 Honda Civic has an overall problem with the AC. I was quoted $1800 for repair, but I am not convinced that is the problem. I wish I hadn't taken it to a dealership to start with, but I was sure that they would be honest and cover the repair under warranty. A new aftermarket evaporator from a very reputable company costs under $70 so that's a lot of labor costs added on. Civicx.com has so many reports of this problem that it's over 12 pages long. This problem should definitely be covered under the 10 year extended warranty.
Last week the AC in my '17 Honda Civic Hatchback went out and I took it to the local dealership to have it diagnosed. Upon review, they informed me the AC's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $800 to replace. I'm aware there is a recall (TSB 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 Civics. Honda came out with a TSB regarding this issue, all 2016-2018 civics have 10yr/unlimited mile warranties now on condensers. TSB 19-091, dated Dec 11th 2019. Per the bulletin: " American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser from the factory. The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out. " However, there seems to be an EQUALLY large number of complaints online about compressors and evaporators failing in those years of Civic as well. Every single private mechanic I spoke to said they's seen dozens of '17 Civics with the exact same issue and to take it back to Honda. As such, it turns out failure across ALL the components of the AC system (compressors/condensers/evaporators) is relatively common after only a handful of years. I believe an amended bulletin should be provided to cover ALL repairs across the AC system. As a 1st responder, it is not safe for me to drive this vehicle to/from work in the 115 degree weather that we get here in Fresno, CA.
