The drivers side locks and unlocks by itself at random times, only way to stop it is to push the button, otherwise it will keep going.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda CR-V. The contact stated the clock and date were inoperable. The contact stated the clock was years ahead and the date was incorrect. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer but was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle not was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
Door locks will lock and unlock on their own. Sometimes the battery will go dead overnight because the doors lock and unlock hundreds of times overnight.
The locks on all the doors in my 2009 Honda CR-V EX have been randomly clicking on and off as I drive for the last 6 months. One day I parked the car and tried to open the door and it was locked and I could not unlock it from the inside, I re-inserted the key into the ignition and the alarm horn started sounding but I was able to open the door and exit the car. The internet shows that there was a class-action suit settlement for 2008-2011 regarding the door locks that expired in 2015. I contacted the dealership and they said since my VIN was not listed on their website, they would charge me $175.00 to diagnose the problem and then would let me know if they could fix it so I followed the dirctions on the web-site to file a complaint with NHTSA. @ the door locks randomly swtich on and off as the car is moving @ I transport my infant and toddler grandchildren in the car and am concerned about the car doors randomly unlocking @ I have not had the vehicle inspected by the dealership as they will charge me $175 for diagnosis but the problem seems to be a duplicate of the complaints I have seen on line regarding the Recall of 2008-2011 CRVs @ No warning of the problem was experienced prior to June 2022
Bottom Line Up Front: The service advisor at Chapman Honda here in Tucson told me this morning (16 Nov) that passenger door locks and hatchback locks that freeze in the locked position (and can NOT be opened by anyone inside or out) sometimes happen with older Hondas (over 10 years). Really? This is a VERY serious safety issue. If what the advisor said is true, then there are potentially many thousands of vehicles that need to be immediately recalled. Timeline: On 11 Nov 21, without any warning whatsoever, the door locks in our 2009 Honda CR-V froze in the locked position. Passenger door and hatchback. My wife has serious back issues and we are thankful this did not happen, for example, when I was driving her to a medical appointment. I immediately called Chapman Honda, Tucson and was able to set up a service appointment for 9:00am, Saturday, 13 Nov. 13 Nov: As soon as I drove the car into the service bay, the frozen locks "un-froze" and operated correctly. The service advisor said he would have the doors checked anyway. They lubricated the doors and I left the dealership. 15 Nov: On the way to pick up a handicapped friend to take her to lunch the same door locks froze AGAIN. Fortunately, it happened before her friend was picked up; she had to sit in the back seat. My wife was very worried her friend would be trapped in the back as well. That same afternoon my wife took the CR-V back to Chapman Honda and left it for overnight servicing. 16 Nov: The service advisor called to say door lock actuators in both front doors would have to be replaced. Cost: $952.05! (including a 10% veteran’s discount) For the greater good and safety of all “older” Honda CR-V owners, it would seem this door lock actuator issue merits investigation. MORE THAN A YEAR AGO I CONTACTED YOUR AGENCY ABOUT RECALLS FOR MY HONDA CRV 2009, BUT NEVER GOT ANY RESPONSE. HOWEVER, I AM CONSTANTLY BOMBARDED BY ENTITIES OFFERING EXTENDED WARRANTY. FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW DOES NOT RAISE, IT IS FAULTY. NO RESPONSE FROM JOHN EAGLE HONDA WHERE SAID VEHICLE PURCHASED IN 2014. FURTHER RESEARCH DISCLOSED RECALL ON SUCH VEHICLES BUT UP TO 2006. I'M A RETIRED AUTO BODY TECH TRY TO GET HELP FOR A LADY, DISABLED SCHOOL TEACHER WHO'S HUSBAND IS IN A NURSING HOME. SHE IS THE TYPE OF CUSTOMER FOR HONDA, THAT'S NOTEWORTHY.OWNED TWO CIVICS IN THE PAST, BOUGHT NEW. SHE IS STARTING TO NEED HER HONDA MORE AS IT'S GETTING HER TO INCREASING DR. APPS. 64,000 MILES AND GARAGE KEPT AND DOCUMENTED MAINTENANCE, OIL ETC. THE AIR-CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY TO VISIT HER HUSBAND. WOULD HONDA, MANAGEMENT HELP ME TO HELP HER BY SUPPLYING HER WITH THE PUMP OR COST OF AND I WILL GET THE LABOR AND CHARGE THE SYSTEM. THE BAND WAGON WE WOULD PREACH FROM WOULD BE HUGE. 30 + YEARS AS A AUTO BODY TECH, WORKING FOR MANY CAR LOTS LARGE AND SMALL, AND KNOWING NUMEROUS MECHANICS, COLLECTIVELY AGREE THAT WITH MILEAGE AT THE LOW 64,000, AND GARAGE KEPT. FAULTY DOOR LOCK ON DRIVER PASSENGER SIDE (LEFT SIDE). WHEN LOCKED, THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH THE ELECTRIC BUTTON. ADDITIONALLY, NONE OF THE OTHER DOORS WILL UNLOCK EXCEPT THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT. YOU MUST MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DRIVER PASSENGER DOOR TO OPEN UP THE OTHER DOORS.
TAKATA RECALL. MY CAR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS MAKES LOUD NOISE WHEN LOCKING THE DOOR. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE ON SAME MODEL WITH SPECIFIC YEAR AND MODLES BUT WHEN I CALL THEY SAID THE RECALL IS NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. HOW COME SOME OF THE SAME MODELS ARE RECALLED AND NOT OTHERS. I HAVE 63,000 MILES ON MY HONDA. POSSIBLE DOOR ACUTAROR REPLACEMENT.
HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY IGNITION SWITCH HONDA TOLD ME I DO NOT PUSH KEY ALL THE WAY IN , THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME I TRY TO START CAR. BUT IT DOES IT ENOUGH TO WORRY THAT MY WIFE COULD GET STUCK IN A DANGEROUS SPOT AND SWITCH WILL CRAP OUT THEN WHAT?
WHEN I CLOSE MY SUNROOF IT OPENS BACK UP HALF WAY. I HAD THIS HAPPEN 3 YEARS AGO AND THE ASSEMBLY AND DRAIN WERE REPLACED. IT JUST STARTED TO DO IT AGAIN.
THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR IS FAILING. THE DOOR UNLOCKS AUTOMATICALLY AS I'M DRIVING. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWS THE DOOR AJAR WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AS WELL, CAUSING THE ALARM TO GO OFF RANDOMLY DAY AND NIGHT. OUR NEIGHBORS ARE UNDERSTANDABLY FURIOUS. I SLEPT IN THE CAR LAST NIGHT TO KEEP IT FROM GOING OFF - DIDN'T WANT TO BE UNDER THE HOOD IN CHICAGO AT 1AM TRYING TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR EXPIRED IN AUGUST. APPARENTLY, OUR MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OR CLASS ACTION SUIT. DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING $300 MINIMUM TO "DIAGNOSE" AND REPAIR. BOTHERS ME GREATLY THAT THE COMPANY IS KEENLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND YET I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO TELL ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW... THEY SOLD US A FAULTY PRODUCT.
DRIVERS DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR- MY DOORS WOULD NOT AUTO LOCK ANY LONGER WHEN BEGINNING TO DRIVE. THE AUTO SYSTEM CONTINUED TO TRY AUTO LOCK WHILE I WAS DRIVING CLICKING BACK ON AND OFF TRYING TO GET THE DOORS TO LOCK WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ALSO MY DOORS WOULD NO LONGER LOCK WITH THE KEY REMOTE. MY VIN NUMBER FELL OUTSIDE THE RANGE FOR 2009 CR-V'S WITH THE SAME REPORTED PROBLEM COVERED IN THE SVC BULLENTINE #14-083 FOR REPLACING THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. I BELIEVE OTHER VEHICLES ARE EFFECTED LIKE MINE WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT ACTIVATE WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS OR ON THE HIGHWAY.
DRIVERS DOOR LOCK STICKS AND SOMETIMES DOES NOT UNLOCK AND CAN'T EVEN UNLOCK MANUALLY. THEY DRIVERS SIDE BACK DOOR IS PERMANENTLY STUCK CLOSED, CAN'T UNLOCK MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY FOB. BACK HATCH IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED CAN'T OPEN AT ALL BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO UNLOCK MANUALLY. THIS HAPPENS WEATHER THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT HOW AM I TO GET MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR SAFELY AND QUICKLY. JUST RUN ALL THE WAY AROUND THE CAR UNTIL A DOOR OPENS? WHAT ABOUT MY DOG THAT I USUALLY HAVE IN THE BACK, HOW DO I GET HIM OUT? WHAT IF THE CAR IS ON FIRE OR IF THE CAR IS FLIPPED ON THE SIDE WITH THE WORKING LOCKS? IT'S CRAZY TO ME SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS IN MY VEHICLE YEAR YET THEY LEFT US OUT OF THE SETTLEMENT TO REPLACE THE LOCKS.
THE FRONT DOOR ACCUTUATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED -- I LIVED WITH IT FOR A YEAR BEACUSE IT WAS SO EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE -- THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR HONDA AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT AND NOT REACLLED THE 2009 CRV
THE FIRST OCCURRENCE INVOLVED THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR LOCK AND THE TAILGATE LOCK. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LOCK THE DOORS WITH EITHER THE KEY FOB OR THE INTERIOR BUTTON LOCK,NEITHER DOOR WOULD LOCK. AFTER OPERATING THE CAR AND STOPPING ,THE DOORS WOULD MYSTERIOUSLY LOCK THEN. *TR
I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY BEING DEAD. SIX TIMES I HAD TO CHARGE THE BATTERY OR HAVE IT TOWED IN TO BE SERVICED. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER CHARGED THE BATTERY AND SAID IT WAS FINE. THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE THIRD THRU FIVE TIME I HAD TO CHARGE THE BATTERY IN MY GARAGE, AFTER BUYING A CHARGING UNIT. THE SIX TIME I HAD IT TOWED IN FROM MY GARAGE TO THE DEALER. I READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE A/C RELAY AND I ASKED THAT IT BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER YEARS BUT NOT WITH THE 2009. I ALSO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 10/23/2019 BUT THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED. I PAID $90.94 TO HAVE THE A/C RELAY REPLACED AND SO FAR THE CAR IS STARTING. I THINK THE COST OF $90.94 SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY HONDA OR MY ADVANTAGE WARRANTY. *TR
THE VEHICLE WILL LOCK ITSELF WHILE SITTING IN THE GARAGE OR ELSEWHERE. IT HAS HAPPENED QUITE OFTEN BUT THIS PARTICULAR TIME I UNLOCKED IT WITH THE KEY FOB AND WALKED TO THE MAILBOX (ABOUT 60 FT) AND BACK AND IT WAS LOCKED. IT HAS DONE THIS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, TOO. I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT UNLOCKING BY ITSELF BUT THAT WOULD REALLY CONCERN ME. IT LOCKS ALL DOORS NORMALLY WHEN I FIRST PICK UP SPEED. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED SINCE NEW. *TR

DASH DIGITAL READOUT FOR GAS, ,MILEAGE, TEMP ETC STARTED BLINKING ON AND OFF AND EVEN DISAPPEAR AND THEN BLINK OFF AND ON. MECHANIC SAYS REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF MICU UNIT AT A COST OF $600. VEHICLE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO PARK MY VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY TO EJECT IT FROM THE IGNITION. THIS HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY, HOWEVER, HONDA SAYS THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEREFORE THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE TO MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEELS IN ORDER TO EJECT THE KEY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS, VERY FRUSTRATING, PARKING AND REPARKING UNTIL I CAN GET THE KEY OUT, AND APPARENTLY IT'S MY PROBLEM, NOT HONDAS! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CR-V. THAT CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE OFF THE DOORS INDEPENDENTLY LOCKED. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WAS NOT A FEATURE ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE BATTERY LIFE WAS LOW, IT WAS SENDING A FAULTY SIGNAL TO THE REMOTE CAUSING THE DOORS TO LOCK INDEPENDENTLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY AND WITHIN THREE MONTHS, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SO THEY COULD DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE KEYS COULD BE LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,913.
