The tailgate door doesn’t open normally sometime I have to push the button more than 10 times then it open but most of the time it doesn’t open.I use this car as a spare or for emergency only so I just wait for Honda to recall, hopefully I don’t want to spend a lot of money to fix because the warranty has expired (41 months but only 25000 miles)but now I use this car every day
We have to jump start our vehicle every time it is cold outside. Sometimes when it is warmer. Occasionally hear ticking sound inside of fuse box. Headlights have to be replaced often. Major electrical issue with this vehicle.
The lock actuator is malfunctioning. When driving, the driver's door unlocks and the lights turn on overhead, and the "door ajar" light blinks and beeps. This is very unsafe, as the driver side door unlocks and stays unlocked while driving on the highway and also at slower speeds.
Key fob stopped working. Doors continuously lock and unlock on their own whether it’s parked, driving, engine off or on and occupied or vacant. Replaced fob battery but all problems still exist including key fob nog working. Recall and class action suit settled for prior years but not 2014. Same problem. Honda needs to fix this issue
Two times in the past seven years, the starter of the car has required to be replaced. There seem to be thousands of similar complaints about the problem with the starter for the 2014 Honda CRV.
A FEW MONTHS AFTER BUYING THIS USED VEHICLE IN 2018, MY FIRST HONDA, I STARTED HAVING BATTERY ISSUES. I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR TO WORK, AND WHEN LEAVING, 9ISH HOURS LATER, THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO CALL FOR A JUMP START AT LEAST 6 TIMES IN ONE MONTH. I THOUGHT BECAUSE IT WAS A SUCH A COLD WINTER, THIS MAY BE AFFECTING THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SO I BOUGHT A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER, WHICH I HAD TO USE A FEW OTHER TIMES. WINTER PASSED AND I JUST WHEN I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE ISSUE WHEN I'D DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SHORT DISTANCES TOO, EVEN IN SPRING/SUMMERTIME. I NOW ALWAYS HAVE TO CARRY MY PORTABLE JUMP STARTER BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF THE CAR IS GOING TO START ON IT'S OWN. SOMETIMES, I CAN GO WEEKS WITHOUT HAVING TO JUMPSTART IT, OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO JUMPSTART IT EVERY MORNING. IT'S SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE AND SHOULDN'T BE NECESSARY. I'VE HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES, AND EACH TIME TESTS GOOD, MY MECHANIC HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO OTHER ISSUE WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE PART. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH MANY OTHER HONDAS, NOT JUST CR-V, BUT THE COMPANY HAS REFUSED TO ORDER A RECALL OR ADMIT THAT IT'S EVEN A PROBLEM. THIS IS WRONG. HOMDA NEEDS TO DIG DEEP AND FIND THEIR ISSUE. SO MANY DRIVERS AROUND THE COUNTRY CANNOT BE MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE AND THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, AND HONDA NEEDS TO FIX IT.
RE: 2014 HONDA CR-V ~ POWER TAILGATE OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY, HONDA PART NO. 74810-T0A-A02; HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN16-063 ISSUE: POWER TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: WE PURCHASED A 2014 HONDA CRV USED FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALER IN 2020. NOT LONG AFTER THE PURCHASE, WE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS OPENING THE TAILGATE WHICH IS DESIGNED TO OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB. FREQUENTLY, THE BUTTON UNDER THE TAILGATE LIFT DOES NOT ACTIVATE AND THE TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER IF THE WEATHER IS COLD OR NOT. WE ARE PRESENTLY UNABLE TO CONVENIENTLY ACCESS 32.9 CUBIC FEET OF SPACE BEHIND THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS DUE TO THE FAULTY TAILGATE OPENER. THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS MUST FIRST BE LOWERED BEFORE GROCERIES, PETS, ETC. CAN BE PLACED INTO THAT REAR CARGO AREA. THIS PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. IF WE WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS AUTO ACCIDENT, FIRST RESPONDERS MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE TAILGATE TO ACCESS THE REAR CARGO AREA IF IT WERE NECESSARY TO EXTRACT OCCUPANTS. WE RESEARCHED THIS TAILGATE OPENER PROBLEM ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT MANY HONDA CRV OWNERS HAVE POSTED ONLINE COMMENTS REFLECTING THEY HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM. SOME CLAIMED THEY HAD THE SWITCH REPLACED EITHER UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT, AND STILL EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE AMAZED AT THE NUMBER OF POSTINGS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN OUR 2014 HONDA CRV. IT IS APPARENT THAT THE OEM EQUIPMENT SWITCH ASSEMBLY INSTALLED BY HONDA IS FAULTY. WE FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD OFFER A VOLUNTARY RECALL TO ALL HONDA CRV OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THIS FAULTY SWITCH ASSEMBLY. WE PLAN TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH OUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES TO ENSURE THAT HAPPENS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED AND FAILED TO PRODUCE ADEQUATE HEAT THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WAS COLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BROWN'S HONDA CITY USED CARS (7154 RITCHIE HWY SUITE 100, GLEN BURNIE, MD 410) 760-6561) WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MANY 2014 HONDA CRV'S HAVE THE HEATING ISSUE DESCRIBED IN TSB 14-063 (NHTSA ID: 10120775 AND 10118028). MY 2014 CRV SUFFERS FROM THE SAME ISSUE. TO BE PRECISE, THE VENT ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT OF THE CAR (DRIVER'S SIDE) DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR. ALL THREE VENTS TO THE RIGHT SEEM TO BLOW FINE.
WHILE IT IS STATIONARY, THE TAILGATE CANNOT BE OPEN EXTERNALLY WHEN IN COLD TEMPERATURE LIKE 35 DEGREES. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN IT INSIDE AND THUS NO WAY TO ESCAPE THROUGH THE TAILGATE FROM INSIDE. NOT SAFE. HERE ARE LINKS FOR COMPLAINTS. IT HAPPENS TO 2012 TO 2016 AND EVEN 2019 ON HRV MODELS. AFTER READING COMPLAINTS, THE ONLY SOLUTION IS A REPLACEMENT OF THE SWITCH. THEY SAID IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN EVEN AFTER REPLACING IT. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY FOR DIAGNOSITICS AND REPAIRS UNTIL IT WORKS FOR GOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOSAK HONDA MICHIGAN CITY (LOCATED AT 710 E HWY 20, MICHIGAN CITY, IN 46360, (219) 874-4293) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,500. *TR NOTE: THE TIRE PRESSURE FOR ALL TIRES (INCLUDING SPARE) IS CHECKED AND ADJUSTED FREQUENTLY WHEN THE TIRES ARE COLD. BATTERY PROVIDED VERY SLOW STARTS AND OTHER ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ANOMALIES ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS WITHIN A MONTH OR SO PRIOR TO TESTING AND REPLACEMENT ON 01/24/17. VEHICLE (AND THE OEM BATTERY) HAD 22,119 MILES AT TIME OF FAILURE, AND HAD BEEN IN SERVICE FOR APPR. 17 MONTHS. NO EVIDENCE OF ABUSE. HONDA REIMBURSED FOR DIAGNOSIS & REPLACEMENT AT INDEPENDENT SHOP.
2014 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO A SOFTWARE ISSUE BULLETIN 15-086 WITH VEHICLE THAT CAUSES A SURGE, VIBRATION OR JUDDER FELT WHILE DRIVING UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. *AS *JS
THE COMPASS INDICATOR LIGHT WILL CONTINUOUSLY FLASH THE WRONG DIRECTION. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN STARTING THE CAR AS WELL AS WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING EITHER IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. FOLLOWING THE RECALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL (DRIVING SLOWLY IN TIGHT CIRCLES) WILL USUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. THIS FIX MAY LAST A DAY OR AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES.
BATTERY DIES RANDOMLY AND CAR WILL NOT START WITHOUT A JUMP. DEALERSHIPS COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM WITH BATTERY OR CAR. AFTER A YEAR OR SO OF THIS HONDA REPLACED BATTERY. IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN WITHIN ABOUT A YEAR. STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER OF BUSY HWY...NO WAY TO ESCAPE! THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADRESSED.

THE LOCAL DEALER (HUGGINS HONDA, 7551 NE LOOP 820, NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX 76180) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
MY 2014 CR-V EX-L BEGAN TO GIVE ME STARTING PROBLEMS SINCE LATE 2016. IT OCCURS RANDOMLY, AND CAN OCCUR EITHER IN MORNING OR DAYTIME. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED AND I TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY BLAMED IT ON SOME CHARGING SOFTWARE ISSUE AND SAID THEY FIXED IT BY INSTALLING A SOFTWARE UPDATE. IT WORKED FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS AFTER BUT THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED LATER. IT CAN HAPPEN IN SUMMER OR WINTER, AND TOTALLY RANDOMLY. HONDA DEALER SERVICE ASSURED ME MULTIPLE TIMES THEY CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AT THIS POINT I AM TOTALLY AT LOSS ABOUT WHAT TO DO. I CAN GET A NEW BATTERY, BUT WHAT AM I GOING TO DO IF THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. I CAN NEVER PREDICT WHEN OR HOW IT WILL SHOW UP. IT CAN START WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS EVEN ON A REALLY COLD DAY, OR IT WOULD NOT START AFTER I MAKE A 20 MINUTE STOP AT THE GROCERY STORE. NEVER EXPECTED THIS WHEN I BOUGHT A HONDA.
TPMS LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE OVER 60 MPH FOR MORE THAN A FEW MILES. THE BUMPIER THE ROAD, THE SOONER THE LIGHT COMES ON. ALL AIR PRESSURES ARE CORRECT PER MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS.
THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE WHEN THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. BEING PARKED AT HOME, I WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. DEALERSHIP SAYS THE DOOR ACTUATOR IS OUT AND THEY SEE THIS ON HONDA'S VERY FREQUENTLY. I CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR SAFETY FEATURE AND FEEL IT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED IF IT HAS BEEN KNOWN. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR HONDA'S AND THEY HAVE HAD A RECALL ON THIS IN PRIOR YEAR MODELS.
MY 2014 HONDA CRV IS EXPERIENCING SOME GRINDING NOISE UPON START UP IN THE MORNING OR WHENEVER IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS PARKED. THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT GOES AWAY. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2014. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS KNOWN ISSUE AND HONDA IS WORKING ON IT. IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS NOW AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. I'VE HEARD THAT IT COULD THE VTC ACTUATOR. DEALER HAS TO CHECK IT ONCE AGAIN. SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED OR RESOLVED PROPERLY. I'M AFRAID IF I KEEP DRIVING IT WITH THIS HONDA KNOWN PROBLEM SOMETHING SERIOUSLY COULD GO WRONG WITH THE ENGINE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TIRES WERE CHECKED AND THE TPMS WARNING INDICATOR WAS DISABLED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN AUGUST 2014. WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE TIRES NEEDED AIR TURNED ON. WE HAD THE WHEELS INFLATED AND THE LIGHT STILL REMAINED ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID SOMETHING TO MAKE THE LIGHT INDICATING THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE INFLATED TURN OFF. IN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AFTER THAT, THE LIGHT TURNED ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHEN WE TURNED ON THE IGNITION, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME WE HAVE IGNORED IT. SINCE WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO BE TAKING IT INTO THE DEALER, IT REMAINS ON WHENEVER WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT IS ANNOYING AND CAN BE DANGEROUS.
SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE (NEW) IT MAKES PERIODIC ELECTRICAL SHORTING NOISES WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE (TURNING THE IGNITION KEY). THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, BUT MANY TIMES. OUR FAMILY IS AFRAID THE VEHICLE IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO SHOCK OUR HANDS - THE VEHICLE NOW HAS ABOUT 15K MILES ON IT BUT IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE VEHICLE CAME FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW AT THE END OF 2013. ON OLD MORNING AND SPORADICALLY AND COOL MORNINGS IN THE SPRING AND FALL THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD. IT LOOKS LIKE MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES NOW TO A HONDA DEALER AND EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY ARE THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND DO NOT HEAR IT THEMSELVES. THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX OR REPAIR IT YET IT SEEMS TO BE SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM.
WE HAVE 4 INSTANCES WHERE WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO START THE CRV BECAUSE OF A LOW BATTERY PROBLEM. THIS NECESSITATED USING A JUMP STARTER TO START THE CAR. I HAVE MEASURED THE VOLTAGE WITH A MULTI METER AND AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE THE VOLTAGE WILL BE ABOUT 12.4 VOLTS AND THE NEXT MORNING IT WILL BE ABOUT 11.8. MY LOAD TESTER INDICATED A WEAK RATING. SO OBVIOUSLY IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. BOUGHT THE CAR TO HONDA SUBARU OF SANTA FE IN NM ON 4/20/16 AND DEALT WITH JAMES THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE SAID THAT THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE BATTERY OPERATED WITHIN SPECS. UPON ARRIVING HOME, 100 MILES AWAY, THE SAME SUB STANDARD CONDITION REOCCURRED. CONTACTING JAMES WITH MY SITUATION, JAMES SAID THAT BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS WITHIN SPECS HE WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. MAYBE 12.4 VOLTS IS ACCEPTABLE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN CAUSING A SURFACE CHARGE BUT IF IT DROPS TO 11.8 OVERNIGHT SOMETHING IS ASKEW. IF THEY HAD PERFORMED A LOAD TEST THAT PROBLEM WOULD HAVE BEEN EVIDENT. WE NOW CARRY A JUMP STARTER WITH US BUT MY WIFE IS NOT ABLE TO USE IT WHICH I CONSIDER A SAFETY PROBLEM. JUDGING FROM ALL OF THE PROBLEMS ON THIS SITE, HONDA SHOULD BE MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE TO THE SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE NEEDS OF ITS CUSTOMERS. AFTER READING THESE POSTS, MOST POTENTIAL BUYERS OF HONDA PRODUCTS WOULD HAVE SERIOUS RESERVATIONS. WE TRAVEL FULL TIME IN A MOTORHOME AND WILL NEED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ADDRESSED AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP.
