Van doors opened by themselves going 60 down the highway while my children were in the vehicle. Happened 3 separate times.
Both of the automatic sliding doors have came off tracks and fell off and will not close all the way it seems the door is only in place with a wire that supports the sliding component and has fallen off and the doors now are only supported by a single top track and this is a safety issue due to passengers riding in the van and if this falls off going down the road it could cause a accident
The sliding door on the driver side has had trouble latching. It has repeatedly caused the battery to drain and has been previously repaired at an independent service center. On 7/16/21, the same sliding door wouldn't close and fell off. The slider center wheel detached causing the door to fall off the track. This resulted in body damage to the side of the vehicle as well as the door needing to be repaired. The vehicle is currently at a body shop, an independent service center. There were no warning lamps on. The door could have injured myself or my son but fortunately we were able to catch it.
I GOT MY KIDS OUT OF THE VAN AND WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR WHEN I WAS CLOSING THE DOOR IT FELL OFF IN MY HAND LUCKILY ONE OF MY CHILDREN WEREN'T CLOSING THE DOOR AS IT WOULD HAVE CRUSHED THEM
DRIVER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF. HAD JUST PARKED. NO PREVIOUS ISSUE, JUST CAME OFF THE TRACKS AND FELL ON ME AS IT OPENED. VERY ALARMING AS MY TODDLER WAS SITTING IN THERE IN HER CAR SEAT. I'VE NOW HAD TO WAIT IN 108 DEGREE HEAT WAITING FOR A MOBILE MECHANIC. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH ALL ODYSSEY'S AND REALLY NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR BECAME STUCK ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 143,000.
(DELETE) TL THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STATIONARY, THE LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR FELL BECAME DETACHED ITS HINGES. IN ADDITION, THE RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR BECAME STUCK ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE 2 SLIDING DOORS OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. THE DOOR CLOSES AND LATCHES BUT BECOMES UNLATCHED WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE READ ABOUT MANY OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE. WHEN WE CONTACT HONDA THEY SAY IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND THEY WON'T FIX IT WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR IT BECAUSE MY VAN IS OUT OF WARRANTY. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
THERE IS RUST OVER THE REAR WHEELS ON BOTH SIDES. I HAVE SEEN THIS ON ALMOST EVERY SINGLE SIMILAR HONDA ODYSSEY, SAME MODEL AS THE 2006 MODEL I OWN. THE RUST IS ON THE BODY PANELS IMMEDIATELY OVER THE REAR WHEELS, ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDES. THIS HAS HAPPENED GRADUALLY, AND OCCURS ON NO OTHER PART OF THE VEHICLE, SO IT IS A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE.

THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE SLIDING DOOR CABLE FRACTURED AND THE DOOR DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 162,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF FROM THE HOOD, SIDE AND THE ROOP. SPECIALLY, LAST SUNDAY, WE HAD A HEAVY RAIN AND THE SNOW. AFTER THAT DAY. THE PEELING PART TOTALLY PEELED OFF. IT LOOKS BAD(GROSS).

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR STRUTS THAT HELD THE DOOR SUDDENLY FAILED AND HAD TO BE MANUALLY OPENED OR CLOSED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WAS ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR, THE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THE DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THREE YEARS LATER THE DOOR FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.
THE SUB-FRAME, RR ASSEMBLY GOT SO SEVERELY CORRODED THAT IT HAS CRACKS AND FRACTURES AND NOW THERE IS A SMALL HOLE IN IT WHICH IS DEEMED AS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WE CAN'T EVEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE COST TO REPAIR IT IS MORE THAN HALF MY VEHICLE VALUE AT THIS POINT. WHAT IS PRETTY INTERESTING IS THAT THE HONDA DEALERS DON'T STOCK THE PART (50300-SHJ-A01) AND CAN'T REALLY SAY IF OR WHEN THEY CAN GET THE PART. MORE THAN A COUPLE OF THEM HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY'VE NEVER ORDERED THIS PART BEFORE, WHICH LEADS ME TO ASSUME THAT THIS COULD NOT BE A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FAILURE. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY WILL NOT RELY ON A 3RD PARTY (MY TRUSTED & REPUTED LOCAL MECHANIC) OPINION AND WOULD LIKE ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE, MOST LIKELY TOW IT, TO THE DEALER AT MY EXPENSE AND GET IT DIAGNOSED AT MY EXPENSE, WHICH MY MECHANIC HAS ALREADY DONE. THAT SEEMS UNREASONABLE TO ME. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER? THIS HAPPENED WHEN MY CAR WAS IN FOR AN OIL SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN HAPPENED TO NOTICE THE CRACK IN THE PART. FRONT DOOR DETENTS TO HOLD DOOR OPEN THE SLIGHTEST BREEZE OR ANGLE CLOSES THE DOOR ON YOUR LEG OR HAND
HONDA HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PAINT ON AT LEAST A DOZEN DIFFERENT MODELS AND YEARS...EXCEPT MINE. THE PAINT ON MY HOOD AND ROOF STARTED CHIPPING AND PEELING AWAY A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, AND NOW IT'S SPREAD TO MANY OF THE FENDER SEAMS, AS WELL AS SEAMS AND JOINTS ON THE ROOF. WHILE IT'S "ONLY PAINT"...WE ALL KNOW THAT RUST LEADS TO STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY ISSUES, HOLES AND CAN ALLOW WATER AND ELEMENTS IN TO DAMAGE THE ENGINE. SO, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS A "VISUAL" ISSUE. I'D LIKE HONDA TO ADDRESS THIS FOR OUR CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AUTOMATICALLY OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

HOOD PAINT IS PEALING OFF IN SHEETS. *TR
VAN HAS MANUAL SLIDING DOORS. UPON SHUTTING PASSENGER SIDE DOOR NORMALLY THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM EITHER THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR. CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS OFF. LOCK MECHANISM WORKS NORMALLY BUT DOOR LATCH WILL NOT DISENGAGE. SIX MONTHS LATER AT 172000 MILES THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE RESULTING IN A SEVEN PASSENGER VEHICLE WITH NO EGRESS FOR PASSENGERS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. UPON REMOVAL OF INTERIOR DOOR PANELS IT IS CLEAR THERE IS AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE LATCH MECHANISM. ALL CABLES AND CONTROLS WORK NORMALLY BUT THE LATCHES HAVE FAILED. *TR

HAVE HAD TWO HONDA ODYSSEYS (ONE NEW 2008 AND ONE USED 2006). BOTH HAD ISSUES WITH THE RIGHT AND LEFT REAR AUTOMATED SLIDING DOORS. THE NEW VAN HAD THIS PROBLEM MUCH LESS THAN THE OLDER ONE, BUT BOTH HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES COME AND GO SPORADICALLY AND SOMETIMES NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO THE SHOP TO BE FIXED. THE DOOR USUALLY SHUTS, BUT THEN POPS OPEN JUST ENOUGH THAT IT IS NOT FULLY CLOSED. SOMETIMES THEY WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS JUST "OUR LUCK" BUT AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I REALIZED THAT THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ONGOING MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS WELL KNOWN ON THE WEB. IN OUR FAMILIES CASE, I CAN SAY THAT THE INCIDENCES WERE NOT RELATED TO ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO "BREAK" THE DOOR. I FEEL THAT IF INDEED THIS COULD BE LABELED AS A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE THAT THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS A WIDESPREAD PERMANENT "FIX" FROM HONDA. *JS
