Issue was first noticed in October 2025 - there are roughly 70k miles on the vehicle. It is a 2017 vehicle, and has regular service (oil, inspection). There was a class action lawsuit for this issue (wylie v hyundai), which was settled prior to the purchase of the vehicle. Vehicle stutters when shifting into and out of first gear. A local mechanic and hyundai both confirmed that it was a transmission defect. The Hyundai dealership initially thought it was an actuator issue, but has since said that it is a faulty gear assembly. it has a DCT (dual clutch transmission). Vehicle suddenly stops and is erratic when driving. Coming out of a stop risks the vehicle shuddering; going through an intersection or turning cross traffic is extremely dangerous as the vehicle could stop momentarily and cause a collision. Vehicle is unable to maintain flow of traffic. The problem appears to be widespread - there are various forums we found where others have this same issue. There were no warnings on the dashboard prior to the issue. When issue appeared a check engine light was displayed.

The vehicle was serviced not long after I got it as a certified pre-owned vehicle for reprogramming of the transmission, which I told it was a just a reprogramming to make it more reactive. The vehicle would fail to accelerate, or have delayed acceleration. I was not aware at the time that these vehicles were known to have faulty transmissions and if I known this at purchase I would have spent my money on a more reliable vehicle. The vehicles transmission is having issues again, not reversing, not accelerating, etc. The Hyundai dealership I got it from told me that they won't even get me into the dealership for a diagnostic until January 6th,,, which is a huge safety issue. Furthermore, apparently Hyundai is well away of the fact that they have allowed Hyundai owners to drive vehicles with faulty transmission and will not help with extended the warranty on their vehicles. I am 477 miles over 100,00. It seems as though they do not even want to help with repairs, even if they are out of pocket.

WHEN COASTING, THE CAR IDLES ROUGH AND LURCHES FORWARD. WHEN STOPPED AND PRESSING THE GAS, IT TAKES SEVER SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO TAKE OFF. THIS PUTS THE DRIVER AT RISK AS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY- YOU CAN EITHER TAKE OFF RIGHT AWAY OR YOU'RE DELAYED. THE ROUGH IDLING SOUNDS AND FEELS AS THOUGH THE CAR IS ABOUT TO STALL. IN TRAFFIC, THIS PRESENTS A HAZARD.

ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THIS VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE RPMS RISE BUT IT TAKES ROUGHLY 2-3 SECONDS TO ENGAGE. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER MORE THAN ONCE WITH NO HELP. THE 2016 MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED AND I BELIEVE THE 2017 MODEL SHOULD BE AS WELL.

THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS TIMES, THAT OUR 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON HAS HAD TROUBLE ACCELERATING IN LOW GEAR, WHETHER COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE OR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A SLOW SPEED (5-10MPH). MOST OFTEN TIMES, WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE TO ACCELERATE IT IS VERY DELAYED, ALMOST NO ACCELERATION RESPONSE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS, AND THEN IT IS VERY JERKY GETTING INTO GEAR AT THAT POINT. I FINALLY HAD ENOUGH OF THIS WHEN MY WIFE AND I CAME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO GETTING REAR ENDED (THE VEHICLE BEHIND US CAME SCREECHING TO A HALT) AS THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION RESPONSE WHEN I PULLED ONTO A 50MPH ROAD AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. THE 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THIS ACCELERATION ISSUE IS FIXED. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND SEEN THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE FOR THIS SAME EXACT CAR. FURTHER, HYUNDAI HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2016 MODEL, BUT THEY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE FOR THE 2017'S. I IMPLORE THE NHTSA AND HYUNDAI TO MAKE THIS A RECALL! DO THE RIGHT THING FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS HYUNDAI AND SAVE PEOPLE FROM SOME BAD ACCIDENTS AND POTENTIAL LOSS OF LIFE.

HESITATION AND STALLING FROM THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR AND SURROUNDING AREAS ON THE STREETS AND HIGHWAY AND ALSO PARKING LOTS. I HAVE BEEN BACK TO MY DEALER TWICE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I FEEL MOSTLY UNSAFE WHEN THIS HESITATION HAPPENS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. HYUNDAI ON MY SECOND VISIT ONLY USED THE COMPUTER TO TURN OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT THE PROBLEM WAS VERY MUCH THE SAME. I NEED HELP PLEASE

WHEN I MAKE A TURN RIGHT OR LEFT, JOINING TRAFFIC, I PRESS ACCELERATION AND THE CAR DOES NOTHING... I MAY EVEN PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, ENGINE ROARS AT 5-6K AND THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL OR MOVES EXTREMELY SLOWLY... I WATCH THE CARDS APPROACHING FROM THE BACK AND START TO PRAY... I BARELY ESCAPED FEW ACCIDENT SITUATIONS BECAUSE THE APPROACHING DRIVERS WERE CAUTIOUS ENOUGH ABOUT SOMETHING WRONG GOING ON WITH MY CAR, NOT MOVING. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE AUTHORIZED HYUNDAI SERVICE DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. BUT, ACCORDING TO OTHER PUBLIC RECORDS, THE ISSUE SEEMS LIKELY TO BE THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT), LATER RENAMED TO "AUTOMATED MANUAL", WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE IN MY TUCSON.

THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS STILL WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND HAD NOT ISSUED ANY TRANSMISSION RECALLS. SOMETHING IS MAJORLY WRONG WITH HOW THIS VEHICLE SHIFTS GEARS. WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN, OR DON'T COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T DOWN SHIFT PROPERLY, CAUSING A TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE AND AN OVER REVVING OF THE ENGINE, WHICH RESULTS IN A DELAY IN ACCELERATION. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I HAVE TRIED TO TURN ONTO A STREET OR HIGHWAY AND NEARLY BEEN REAR ENDED OR T-BONED BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLE STALLING FOR NO REASON, LEAVING ME FLOUNDERING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET UNTIL THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO SHIFT PROPERLY AND RESUME ACCELERATION. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED, FOR IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT HAPPENS, PROVIDED IT HASN'T ALREADY OCCURRED. IN FACT, I GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT THE OTHER DAY WHILE MERGING ONTO A FRONTAGE ROAD NEXT TO AN INTERSTATE, AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS STALLING TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE IS TO BLAME. PLEASE TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AS IT APPEARS THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2017 TUSCONS AS WELL. THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT OCCURS EVERY DAY I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. EVERY DAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID. *DT CONSUMER STATED SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED IN 2015 RECALL HAPPENED IN 2016. MANUFACTURER IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT. *JB

I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER FOR THE SAME SIMILAR ISSUES ALL RESULTING FROM THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE ISSUES HAVE RANGED AND STARTED WILL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON IN NOVEMBER WHEREAS CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND DELAY IN ACCELERATION. THEY REPLACED A SENSOR. 3 DAYS LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN CAUSING LOW POWER THEY REPLACED ENGINE HARNESS. FEBRUARY AGAIN ROUGH IDLE AND CAR DIED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE AT LIGHT AND/OR PARKED CAUSING TO BE RESTARTED SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE BUT USUAL CAUSE IS DUE TO DUAL CLUTCH SO THEY RESET DUAL CLUTCH ADAPTIVE VALVES. MARCH 2ND WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT IN DRIVE I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL RPMS REVED TO 3-4 AND I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE AS IF I WAS DRIVING WHEREAS THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING SIMILAR TO IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. MARCH 5TH AFTER NOT DRIVING THE CAR FOR THE WEEKEND I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN I ACCELERATED AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN CAUSING CARS BEHIND ME TO SLAM ON BREAKS TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA GOING AROUND 10 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR JEEVES ME FOWARD AND SLOWS DOWN TO ALMOST A DEAD STOP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AGAIN WE'RE AGAIN THEY SAID IT CAN NOT BE DUPLICATED AND THEY ALSO STATED THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN DRIVING DRASTIC SPEEDS OFTEN. ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. THERE IS NO WAY MYSELF OR ANY OF MY CHILDREN WILL BE DRIVING THIS CAR I AM TERRIFIED OF THIS VEHICLE AND DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO RISK MY FAMILIES LIVES FOR SOMEONE TO REALIZE SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH MY CAR.

TUCSON WITH DCT ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY AFTER COMING TO A STOP, BASICALLY UNRESPONSIVE FOR A COUPLE SECONDS. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME IN CITY DRIVING NO MATTER WHAT DIRECTION I GO AFTER THE STOP. I NOTICED THIS VEHICLE STAYS IN 2ND GEAR UNLESS IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR A FULL SECOND. ANYTHING LESS THAN THAT AND THE CAR STAYS IN 2ND GEAR AND THEN LAGS AND STUTTERS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE BUT A VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR WHEN BASICALLY STOPPED MIGHT BE AN ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A LACK OF ACCELERATION NUMEROUS TIMES AS I'M TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALSO AS I TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A STATIONARY POSITION WAITING FOR A LIGHT AND CHANGING LANES ALSO. THREE MONTHS AGO I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND I TOLD THEM OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY WILL CHECK IT. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR I WAS TOLD THAT A RESET WAS DONE TO THE COMPUTER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. IT IS STILL HAPPENING. I HAVE BEEN IN CLOSE CALLS NUMEROUS TIMES AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE FOR MYSELF OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS CONDITION. I WILL BE TAKING THE SUV TO DEALER AGAIN THIS WEEKEND TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT AGAIN. I HOPE THAT A RECALL HAPPENS BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A FATAL ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. SUV HAS 19500 MILES.

MY HYUNDAI TUCSON CAR HESITATE TO START FROM THE SIGNAL LIGHT. I.E IT TOOK AROUND 2 TO 3 SECONDS TO ACCELERATE [I END UP IN APPLYING GAS PEDAL HARDLY TO GET THE MOVE FROM LIGHT ] AND THIS HAD HAPPENED FOR 4 TIMES SO FAR FROM 2017 JULY TO NOW. WHEN I CHECK WITH HYUNDAI SERVICE DEALERS ON THIS PROBLEM, THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO CHECK IT COMPLETELY AND FOR THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE ME FOR "VEHICLE INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSE" :( , I'M NOT READY TO AFFORD AS THIS IS NOT HAPPENING OFTEN.

MY HYUNDAI TUCSON HESITATES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT FEELS AS THOUGH SOMEONE IS HOLDING DOWN THE BRAKE AS I AM TRYING TO HIT THE GAS PEDAL. IT IS VERY SCARY BECAUSE ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WILL GET THIS BURST OF ENERGY AND ACCELERATE FORWARD. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE TRYING TO TAKE A TURN AT AN INTERSECTION OR PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS WHEN BRINGING MY CAR IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE VISITS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT. I HAVE HAD ZERO LUCK WITH ISSUE BEING RESOLVED.

USE SPORT MODE NOT S FIX NOR SOLUTION. RECALL #149 IN 2016 FIX? SOME ONE WILL DIE!

NHTSA NOW HAS OVER A DOZEN OF THIS SAME COMPLAINT FROM ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY. IT'S TIME FOR A RECALL! THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A SLOWED OR STOPPED PACE (I.E. STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS). WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED TO GO AGAIN, NOTHING HAPPENS. THEN THE VEHICLE SLOWLY SHIFTS INTO TRAFFIC BEFORE FINALLY ACCELERATING. SCARY STUFF WHEN CARS ARE COMING AT YOU. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT. THE CAR ALSO IDLES WITH 'JUMPS' OR 'STUDDERS' OCCASIONALLY WITH SIMILAR DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS IS THE SPORT MODEL, 1.6T, AWD. THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN SPORT MODE WHEN INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED.
