Many 2018 Grand Cherokee Radio screen are de-laminating including mine, and on it's own which is a scary distraction changes stations suddenly constantly makes a loud beeping noise through the speakers- drops and makes phone calls, changes navigation directions - prevents you from making a phone call that could be an Emergency. This should be a safety recall since it happens when you lease expect it and causes the driver to jump. And all Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer will not cover this over a thousand dollar plus issue.
Uconnect 4c/4c 8.4 inch display screen Issues: Screen is ghost touching ,making choices on its own while driving, climate control will run haywire and do the opposite of what’s needed to defrost window and it’s can’t be stopped or cut off, unable to get heating seats off and seats heat up so much it burns legs and sacrum, unable to use back up camera, cannot access radio, navigation system, anything that’s needed that has to do with function of the vehicle that’s operated by that screen is unable to be done because it’s constantly chooses and self taps every. I have almost crashed many times due to this happening and it’s very unsafe.
Driving and the display screen kept switching uncontrollable and caused a safety issue while I was driving and was not in a familiar place, and was trying to use the screen for navigation directions. Concern as it was switching screens/adjusting the heat controls while I was driving. Research indicates my screen has become delaminated and a known issue with this car. Concern that while I drive this continues and may be a safety risk.
BUBBLE IN SCREEN SYSTEM ACTING FUNKY I JUST PURCHACED THE JGC ON 01/16/2024 THE NEXT DAY THE SCREEN GOES NUTS CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE GHOSTING ME VERY UNHAPPY FIRST TIME JEEP OWNER
With less than 40k miles on my vehicle the leather dash on my Jeep has begun to delaminate. I'm concerned for the way this will impact the front passenger airbag to deploy in the event of a collision. Additionally this causes a viability issue due to the glare at certain times of the day when the sun is shining through the windshield and onto the dash.
UConnect navigation system shows current location as West Virginia but vehicle is in Missouri. If attempted to use or refer to onboard compass associated with system would result in significant driving direction/location mis-information. Software is current up to date for system; system is currently inoperable in this condition. Prior to this however navigation and compass were working correctly. Review of numerous Jeep online forums shows this navigation system failure to be quite common and likely requires complete radio/information system replacement. Why has no recall been issued?
The radio had delaminated causing my radio to start switching stations randomly, rendering my dashboard useless- no phone, no navigation, unable to adjust heat, indoor cabin temperature, or hear radio.
Uconnect screen started to delaminate causing phantom touches. Poses a danger and safety risk to driver and passengers. “screen off” button does not work since it’s registering touch. This also causes inability to control safety features.
Dash cover separating/bubbling from dash panel as if the adhesive under cover is releasing. My bigger concern is if the airbag had to deploy it would take/pull the entire cover of the dash instead of blowing out from its designed location possibly hindering the airbags effectiveness and safety. I know a similar recall has been issued in the past on previous model years that was a concern for this very thing.
My touchscreen has started to do "ghost touching" causing a disturbance to my driving because of being distracted. It will change the screen at any time causing a distraction it is available to be looked at at any time
I purchased a vehicle from AutoMaxx of the Carolinas 11/09/2023.in which the dealership agreed to fix the two from windows that won't down due to the gaskets being damage I did brought that to Mr Michael Dangerfield the day I purchased the truck.in which the warranty who pay for the .I have 90 days of warranty but purchased additional warranty3080
Backup camera remains on while driving. I am unable to use any other features on the screen.
The Uconnect Infotainment system frequently malfunctions. Because it is linked to the heating/cooling/defrost system it has caused the heat to turn on in dangerously hot weather while my 91 year old aunt was waiting in the car for me to pick up her prescriptions at Walmart. It also blanked out while I was using the navigation system in heavy traffic to find the Amtrak station during rush hour traffic in Philadelphia. Finally the same system blanked out a few days ago while I was driving to work and dialed the SOS emergency number. After a few minutes I was finally able to communicate to the emergency response agents that I was not involved in an accident, that it was a system malfunction. This has been an ongoing issue with the Uconnect 8.4 inch touch screen system. Chrysler FCA has only recently reluctantly admitted to being aware of the problems. When I notified them of my problems with the system in May 2022 their response was that since my vehicle was past the 36,000 mile warranty period that I would have to have it replaced at a dealer at an out-of-pocket cost of over $1300. Subsequently there has been an overwhelming flood of identical reports and complaints on Youtube, Facebook, Reddit, etc. When I contacted Chrysler FCA earlier this week their response was that I would be given a case # (which I was) but that I would then have to make an appointment to have it diagnosed at a dealer (for a fee). Then the dealer would possibly order a replacement. Reports on forums indicate that the replacement units typically take months just to arrive at dealerships. Finally, I have read numerous reports that the replacement units experience the same problems after a short period. I just read several reports of customers stating that they are on their 2nd and 3rd Uconnect replacements!
The UConnect touchscreen on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced delaminating and I currently experience phantom touches on the screen (I don't touch the screen but selections are randomly made). These phantom touches are a serious distraction to a driver and they happen frequently. Given all of the controls for the automobile that can be made from the screen, it is a serious safety issues to drivers of these vehicles with this issue as well as others on the road. I have read on numerous online forums that there have been many others that have or are currently experiencing this problem. I believe the auto maker should have these vehicles recalled and appropriately fixed. Please look into this issue ASAP before someone is hurt by the automaker's inaction. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you might have about this problem.
The Uconnect (screen with radio/nav/driver control) is "delaminating". Which means the one screen layer is separating from another layer. This causes the screen to change randomly. With the Uconnect on, I can expect the radio to change stations, AC/Heat to change temperatyre/speed and basically anything that the Uconnect controls. It all depends on what part of the screen is effected that particular day. It's a huge distraction and no way to eliminate using the Uconnect since it control some of the basic car functions. I am unawar of a fix o this problem.
My radio keeps going in and out. Making it hard to use my rear view camera or manage controls for heating and cooling. I have tried resetting with no luck. It is a big distraction while driving.
Touchscreen is delaminating and changing settings on its own calling people etc and it's so frequent and moving around so fast that it's a safety hazard when I drive... its constant and erratic and getting worse and worse
Digital Touch screen has begun to delaminate. It started in one corner and has progressed to the full top portion of the screen. Since this started, screen has become very glitchy, jumping from one radio station to another constantly or when using maps, screen is jumping all over the place. This started several months ago and has progressively gotten worse. Only way to make it stop is just turning it off completely.
U connect touch screen delaminating screen. Causes several distractions while driving. Moreover, It controls heating and defrost system which controls and severely impacts driver visibility in certain driving conditions. Especially during rain, snow very hot and cold weather conditions. It’s a fact that we can’t control the elements. As well the backup camera is affected by disabling backup alerts. It’s over $1k to repair and not covered under warranty. This is a common problem for the make and model vehicle and there are several forums inquiring about the same issues. Statistically this is a problem that’s deserves immediate attention. shortly after my purchase we experienced a pandemic that caused a financial strain. It’s unreasonable for the maker to put the burden on consumers. When they choose produce a products that’s effects the well being of there customers. This is the 4th Jeep I’ve purchased I have never dealt with this until now. so why would they change the vendor unless it was minimizing manufacturing cost making this an ethical issue as well
SUV. Stall out no power to gas Padel SUV won't turn off the park light blinking, and won't go in neutral. I have to wait 15 before I can start it back up an drive
Entire front leather dash has delaminated and separated by bubbling up from the original glue not holding. Also, the exhaust resonators (both sides) on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is bad on both sides and blowing out fiberglass from my exhaust pipes all over the backside of my car. I’ve read on multiple forms that several customers have encountered the exact same issues on their Jeeps as well. Is this issue being addressed and covered by the manufacture? If so, I definitely would like this to be taken care of.
The U CONNECT screen is de-laminating and this is leading to ghost presses on the screen. If my phone is connected, it will start randomly calling people. The entertainment system will change inputs, stations or tracks at random - allowing up to 4 seconds before switching. The automatic climate control will change fan speeds and function constantly. The GPS navigation screen will not stay up and tries to reroute while driving or switch to another function. This is not just an glitch every once in a while, this is constant change - I have a 20 second video showing the screen changing to the climate controls, turning off the auto function, change fan speeds 4 times, change the vents being used then going back to auto and then changing the screen to the media screen and then putting the time change up. My kids are saying the car is possessed. This behavior is very distracting to the driver and is a hazard. Other safety issues include not being able to use navigation to get to an unknown location and not being to use hands free calling. Does not matter if the car is moving or stationary.
The leather is pulling loose on dash. It is bubbled up from passenger side starting over into drivers side
The screen has been doing phantom touches most likely due to the bubble forming under the top layer (currently getting it diagnosed for delamination). This is a safety risk due to the distraction from the changes on the screen and the fact that it will cause me to look at the screen and not at the road. The radio, phone and also GPS all are affected currently. I am not able to use handsfree for my phone and the GPS is not usable as well. Like I said, the vehicle currently has an appointment set up to be diagnosed so it can be submitted to UConnect. There is no warning messages for this.
Air conditioner is blowing only hot air. My car is 5 years old with 24,000 miles and i have Already paid to refill my 1234 refrigerant and within a couple months it's blowing hot air again. Now i am being quoted $1200 plus dollars to fix a leak.
