I recently got into an accident in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. My airbags never deployed however. Also my buttons on the left side of my steering wheel do not work and my horn does not work. After realizing all this I believe it is an issue with the clock spring. I did research and found in 2024 there was a recall for the clock spring but only in the RHD model. My car is a LHD model but it seems the same issue has occurred and my clock spring failed.

After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 (Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 106,000.

The airbags did not go off when I was struck from the front. Impact was 40 to 50MPH. AAA insurance carrier says its a complete loss with over $31,000 worth or repairs. They are salvaging the Jeep. The Jeep is at my home and available for inspection until AAA insurance takes it away. I was the only one in the Jeep when it was hit. With only the seatbelt to restrain me it severely twisted my body to the left. I have head, neck, back pain with 6 herniated disks. I have dizziness, nausea and loud nonstop ringing in the ears. Airbags have not been inspected by anyone. Only the damages were inspected by the insurance carrier. No warning lights, messages or symptoms prior to the accident.
Air bag light on saying it needs a clock spring I was just driving and light came on
was in a 4way stop approaching it actually .I was going eastbound the other motorist was going south bound. He made a right turnouts west bound lane but he took it without slowing down for stop sign he didn't stop at all .he drove onto my front bumper side head on at a fast rate ofspeed.his airbags deployed my did not. I had my seat belt on but my airbags did go off.i got jerked around violently my head has not stopped from hurting and been dizzy and nauseous lately
I ran into a truck that stopped in the middle of the road, The impact was hard. My airbags didnt deploy. My chest is hurting
Experiencing illumination of the airbag warning lamp. Upon further investigation the technician may found one or more of B1B Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Current "recall" or "extended warranty applies to 2011 to 5/2/2016. My vehicles build date is 6/2016. My question is was the faulty part possible used after 5/2/2016 in Toledo where my vehicle was built. The airbag clock spring seems to have been a issue for awhile. I seen "recalls" all the way back to 2007. I just wanted to figure out my vehicle is being excluded from the "extended warranty" when I am have the same issues as a vehicle built just one month before mine.

I was in a high speed impact collision rear ended at full speed and thrown into vehicle in front of me, me and my husband both suffered facial trauma as airbags did not deploy and both front seats twisted ans broke backwards in backseat where my 2 minor children were located.

RECALL # S40, NHTSA 16V-288 NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED!!! MY CLOCKSPIRING ASSEMBLY IS BAD IN MY VEHICLE, AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR CERTAIN 2016 RHD VEHICLES FOR THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY. CERTAIN VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2011 AND MAY OF 2016 FALL INTO THE RECALL. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED DURING THAT TIME, HOWEVER FOR SOME REASON MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL-WHY? THE SAME CLOCK SPRING THAT WAS RECALLED IN CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS HAS GONE BAD IN MY VEHICLE ALSO-WHICH IS A RIGHT HAND DRIVE. SPEAKING WITH CHRYSTLER DIRECTLY ABOUT THIS THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED! THIS IS NOT OK! IT IS AN ISSUE EFFECTING AIR BAD DEPLOYMENT! I AM A RURAL MAIL CARRIER-AND I AM RISKING MY LIFE EVERY DAY. IF A VEHICLE REAR ENDS ME OR HITS ME-MY AIR BAD WILL NOT DEPLOY AND THATS MY LIFE! FOR CHRYSTLER TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN VEHICLES AND NOT TAKE CARE OF IT IN MINE IS NOT OK! AND I EXPECT SOMETHING TO BE DONE!
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A CITY STREET AND THE PERSON COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION CROSSED THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE. WE COLLIDED HEAD ON AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD RECENTLY REPLACED THE AIRBAG DUE TO A RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS ACCIDENT RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE BEING TOTALED. FURTHERMORE I RECEIVED SEVERAL INJURIES INCLUDING A CONCUSSION AND WHIPLASH. THE AIRBAG DID DEPLOY ON THE KIA THAT HIT ME.
2016 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO URGENT AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER CANCELED THE SCHEDULED RECALL REPAIR AND DID NOT SCHEDULE A NEW APPOINTMENT. *JS
RECEIVED NOTICE FROM JEEP THAT A RECALL WAS IN EFFECT FOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR SWITCH LOCATED SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE FRONT BUMPER.. THE SWITCH MAYBE DISCONNECTED AT TIME OF IMPACT AND NOT MESSAGE THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY... THE HARD ROCK ADDITION JEEP HAS AN ACCESS PORT LOCATED WITHIN THE FRONT BUMPER SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF INSTALLING A WINCH/WINCH PLATE... DEALERSHIP ADVISED IT WOULD COST ADDITIONAL 100 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE RECALL AS THE WINCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED PARTIALLY OR IN TOTAL... CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE / CASE MANAGEMENT AT JEEP CORP AND WAS ADVISED IT WOULD NOT COVER THE COST TO REMOVE THE WINCH THAT IT WAS MORE OR LESS BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND ME.. MY THOUGHTS ARE THAT THE BUMPER WAS DESIGNED BY JEEP TO INSTALL A WINCH INSIDE THE BUMPER WITH TOP AND FRONT REMOVABLE PLATES AND THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE REGARDLESS....
CLOCK SPRING NEEDS REPLACING.
