TRANSMISSION STARTED TO FELL SLIPPING AT 60,000 MILES. SLIPPING AND SHIFTING HARD PROGRESSING FROM BAD TO WORSE UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION STOP COMPLETELY. I CALLED NISSAN THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLES WHO ARE HAVING VERY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL CAR. VEHICLE FAILS TO SHIFT FORM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SMOOTHLY SOMETIME JERKS SOMETIME REVS RPMS UNTIL REACHES GEAR. ALSO HAS PROBLEMS SHIFTING FROM PARK TO 1ST AND REVERSE TO 1ST - EXTREME JERKING. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR LESS THAN A WEEK AGO. IT'S ALREADY BEGINNING TO JERK AND CLUNK WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND SECOND GEAR. YESTERDAY IT BEGAN TO REV AND THEN JUMP BACK INTO GEAR WHENEVER I TRIED TO PULL AWAY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HE PAID $1700 + TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT BECAUSE HE FELT BAD FOR SELLING ME A JUNK CAR!. BUT FROM WHAT I'M HEARING FROM OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME CAR A REBUILD ONLY HELPS FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS OR SO THEN THE CAR ACTS UP AGAIN.... I'M IN THE U.S. MARINES AND I NEED A RELIABLE CAR TO GO HOME AND CHECK ON MY SICK FATHER EVERY SO OFTEN AND THIS ISN'T SEEMING SO RELIABLE. *TR
TRANSMISSIONS JERKS REALLY HARD THEN GRINDS WHILE DRIVING (TAKING OFF) UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY DOES IT EVERY TIME I TRY TO DRIVE IT AND IS NOW PARKED DUE TO IT POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE JERKING STARTED AT 75,000 MILES EVERY NOW AND THEN UNTIL IT BECAME CONSISTENT UP TO 127,000 MILES THEN PARKED! *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH SERIOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. 1. THERE IS A MAJOR DELAY AFTER THE SHIFT LEVER IS PUT IN DRIVE 2. BETWEEN 1ST TO 2ND GEARS THE CAR CLUNKS AND JERKS INTO GEAR CAUSING THE TIRES SCREECH 3. AFTER ABOUT ONE HOUR OF DRIVING AND I COME TO A STOP, THE CAR WILL NOT TO MOVE OR RESPOND AS IT SHOULD. I CAN BE AT 3000 RPM AT A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR WILL JUST CREEP ALONG UNTIL IT BUILDS UP SPEED. IF I DON'T LET OFF OF THE GAS AFTER SPEED STARTS BUILDING UP TO 20 MPH, IT WELL CLUB AND JERK INTO GEAR ALMOST CAUSING THE CAR WILL TO TURN OUT OF CONTROL. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STARTED FORWARD, CAR MOVED AND THEN JUST REVVED. CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING ME. CAR WAS MOVING AND THEN WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE SHIFTED, IT FROZE . WAS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT AFTER THAT. *TR
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AND THE POWER TRAIN WAS FINE. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN MY VEHICLES SHIFTS. IT MAKES HARD JERKS WHEN SHIFTING AND THE RPMS REV UP UNCONTROLLABLY. I GOT ONLINE TO RESEARCH FOR RECALLS AND HAVE YET FOUND ONE BUT WHAT I DID FIND IS NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM I'M HAVING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I CONTACTED NISSAN CORP. TO SEE WHY THERE IS NO RECALLS WITH SO MANY PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT NHTSA DEALS WITH ALL RECALLS. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COMING TOGETHER ON THIS ISSUE. I'M JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT KNOW THAT SO MANY OF US ARE HAVING TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH OUR TRANSMISSIONS CORRECTED. THIS HAS GOT TO BE A DEFECT IN THIS CERTAIN YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS SITUATION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND CONFIRMED THERE WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. I BOUGHT 05 NISSAN MAXIMA 3 YEARS AGO!! IT START HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHEN I WAS UNDER WARRANTY I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP THEY SAID ITS MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEM!! I GOT NEW MOTOR MOUNTS AND NOTHING HAPPENED! HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS I GOT OUT OF THE WARRANTY I WENT BACK TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR SAME PROBLEM AND THEY SAID ITS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THAT IT JERKS GOING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR AND SAME WHEN GOING BACK FROM 3RD TO 2ND GEAR!! DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST $3500 TO FIX IT!!! I CALLED CORPORATE OFFICE WITH THE PROBLEM THEY SAID AFTER 3 DAYS THAT THEY CANT HELP BC ITS OUT OF WARRANTY! I STILL OWE $5000 ON THE CAR AND MAKING PAYMENTS I CANT AFFORD TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED!! *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SHIFTING TO REVERSE, THERE WAS A SIX SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 79,182.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

SHAKING AND LOUD NOISE WHEN CAR IS TURNED ON, JERKING OF GEARS AS I AM DRIVING ON FREEWAY, SEEMS TO JUMP GEARS AND TAKES A LONG TIME TO CATCH ITSELF ON AUTOMATIC GEAR CHANGES. HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE BRAND NEW AND HAS GIVEN ALL KIDS OF PROBLEMS. FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS I'VE INVESTED TOO MUCH ON REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT OF PARTS THAT HAD NO REASON TO FAIL. I EXPECTED THIS CAR TO BE A DEPENDABLE AND RELIABLE VEHICLE BASED ON THE REPUTATION OF THE MAKER. LOVE THE INTERNAL FEATURES OF COMFORT AND LUXURY BUT THIS CAR FAILS WHERE IT COUNTS....THE TRANSMISSION AND UNDER THE HOOD WORKINGS. ---I READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT A FOUL ODOR IN THE CAR... AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE LIKE A STANDARD TRANSMISSION HAD BEE STARTED IN 4TH OR 5TH GEAR. I HAVE GONE ONLINE TO FORUMS TO SEE THAT NISSAN HAS BEEN HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM FOR SOMETIME. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED TO CHECK FOR THIS LATENT DEFECT THAT CAN RESULT IN SOMEONE GETTING KILLED. *TR
MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING BOTH IN LOWER GEARS AND AT TIMES, AT ACCELERATION. ADDITIONALLY, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, IT TAKES A COUPLE OF SECONDS TO GO INTO DRIVE, BUT THEN JUMPS HARD INTO GEAR. SO HARD LIKE I'VE BEEN HIT. LUCKILY I DON'T LIVE ON A BUSY STREET. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND FROM MY RESEARCH MANY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I JUST STARTED RESEARCH AFTER LEARNING THAT A FRIEND OF MY DAUGHTER'S WHOSE PARENT OWNS A 2005 MAXIMA IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *JB
I BOUGHT THIS 2005 MAXIMA USED AND NOT LONG AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD LAG IN THE SHIFTING THEN WHEN IT SHIFTED INTO GEAR IT WOULD LURCH. (FEELS LIKE BEING KICKED BY A MULE.) IT HAPPENS ON & OFF BUT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT ESPECIALLY IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. THERE'S ALSO A FOUL SMELL NOTED WHEN THIS HAPPENS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. I READ REVIEWS THAT CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. OF COURSE EVERY TIME IT HAS BEEN CHECKED OUT IT WOULDN'T DO IT, AND NO COMPUTER CHECK SHOWED ANYTHING. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, THERE REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE TRANSMISSION NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN, AND THAT'S JUST SAD BECAUSE THAT'S ALL I HAVE EVER OWNED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
STARTED OUT JERKING HARD WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, BEGAN TO HESITATE BETWEEN GEAR CHANGES, AND EVENTUALLY SHAKE. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REBUILT AS WELL AS THE MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION ISSUE. DID ONLINE RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED MORE INCIDENTS OF THE SAME THING AND THAT IT IS A BAD VALVE BODY. CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS DIRECTED TO A DEALER THAT GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND WHEN THAT DIDN'T WORK REFUSED TO SEE MY CAR BECAUSE IT HAS 102K MILES AND THEY ONLY SEE CARS WITH 100K OR LESS. *TR
