WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH, I PUSHED MY BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW FOR MY NEXT TURN. THE PEDAL WAS SLIGHTLY INEFFECTIVE, MEANING THE PRESSURE IN THE PEDAL WAS RELEASED AND THE BRAKE DID NOT HALT MY CAR IN A SAFE TIMEFRAME. I HAD TO RELEASE AND PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN TO FEEL PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM, AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW JUST IN TIME TO MAKE MY NEXT TURN. THIS WAS DEFINITELY SCARY AS I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE BEFORE.

THE STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT 25 TO 30 MPH WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO COME TO A STOP AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT POLICE DEPARTMENT PROVIDED CASE NUMBER 020-9-018-0182. THE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,400.
MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS REPLACING. MY DAUGHTER COULD HAVE CRASHED AS BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. NISSAN KNOWS THIS ISSUE EXISTS WITH 2013 NISSAN SENTRA AND NO RECALL?
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND CONTINUED TO MALFUNCTION UNTIL VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND NISSAN DEALERSHIP BOTH DETERMINED THE CAUSE WAS THE MAIN CYLINDER. MILEAGE ON CAR WAS 39,000. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY BRAKE ISSUES BEFORE MALFUNCTION (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, NO NOISES FROM BRAKES, ETC.).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN SENTRA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING ONCE DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH KELLY NISSAN OF LYNNFIELD (275 BROADWAY, LYNNFIELD, MA 01940, (866)-726-4450). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT, IF THERE WAS A FAILURE, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE COULD POSSIBLY ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,200.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES TO STOP AND I HAD TO PRESS THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO ACTIVATE THE BREAKS. THIS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES ON MY WAY HOME. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY EVENTUALLY DIAGNOSED THE CAR WITH A CRACKED MASTER CYLINDER. THE CAR IS ROUGHLY 5 YEARS OLD AND THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR PROBLEM THAT IT HAS HAD WITHIN THE MONTH - 1ST THE TRANSMISSION AND THEN 2ND THE BREAKS. THESE ARE 2 OF THE 3 MOST FREQUENTLY REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL. THE CAR IS UNDER 60K MILES. ACCORDING TO MOST SOURCES, THE MASTER CYLINDER IS SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. NISSAN REPORTS THAT NO RECALL/CUSTOMER EDUCATION HAS BEEN DONE FOR EITHER OF THOSE THINGS FOR THAT MAKE/MODEL. IT SEEMS IRRESPONSIBLE OF THEM.
BRAKES HAVE UNUSUALLY LONG PEDAL TRAVEL COMING TO A FULL STOP. AFTER COMING TO A FULL STOP, ADDITIONAL PRESSURE IS REQUIRED TO KEEP THE CAR FROM DRIFTING FORWARD. INCIDENT HAPPENS REPEATEDLY. WE PURCHASED THE CAR USED, WITH A REBUILT TITLE. I HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED AT A GARAGE, AND HAD THE LINES BLED TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO AIR IN THE LINES. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES.
VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS FURTHER THAN NORMAL. HAVE CHECKED BRAKE PADS, BRAKE SHOES, ADJUST HAND BRAKE FLUSH BRAKE FLUID AND REFILL AND BLED ALL 4 BRAKE LINES. NO IMPROVEMENT. I BOUGHT USED.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER MAJOR FAILURE IN WHICH I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION!
MASTER CYLINDER. ON SATURDAY 1/27/18 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME AFTER MAKING A STOP AND THE BRAKES QUIT WORKING. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. I FINALLY GOT HOME AFTER A STRESSFUL DRIVE. I TOOK MY CAR TO ONE SERVICE CENTER THE NEXT DAY (1/28) AND THEY TOPPED OUT THE FLUIDS BUT FOUND NOTHING ELSE WRONG. I GOT IN THE CAR TO DRIVE HOME AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THUS, ON MONDAY (1/29) I TOOK THE CAR TO A DOWNTOWN SERVICE CENTER (NON-NISSAN) AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD THAT ITEM REPLACED AT A COST OF $732. I THEN SENT A LETTER TO NISSAN REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE CAR WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND 67000 MILES. NISSAN SAID SINCE I DID NOT BRING IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEIR DIAGNOSTICS RUN THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME. HOWEVER, A WEEK OR TWO EARLIER I WAS AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A SHIFT LOCK PROBLEM AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS THEN. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND DID RUN DIAGNOSTICS. THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. AFTER THE MASTER CYLINDER ISSUE, I RECHECKED THAT REPORT AND IT INDICATED THE BRAKE FLUIDS WERE LOW. I ALSO CHECKED THE INTERNET AND RAN ACROSS SEVERAL REPORTS THAT TALKED ABOUT THIS SAME BRAKING ISSUE. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE I DID NOT BRING IT TO THEM. HOWEVER, SINCE ITS OUT OF WARRANTY I DO NOT ALWAYS TAKE MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP - I USUALLY TAKE IT TO A PLACE CLOSER TO MY WORK.
I WENT TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I WAS UNABLE TO DEPLOY THE BRAKES. THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD, I THEN TRIED SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES, BUT THE CAR ACCELERATED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND I ENDED UP CRASHING THE CAR.
THIS CAR HAS EXCESSIVE BREAK PEDAL TRAVEL, THEN BREAK FAILURE TO STOP. PEDAL SINKS TO FLOOR AND RENDERS THE BREAKING SYSTEM USELESS. FLUID IS FULL, AND CLEAN. BREAK PADS ARE IN MID TO HIGH CAPACITY.
THE VEHICLE WONT STOP AT TIMES. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUMPED. AT TIMES WHEN BRAKING THE CAR THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND TRIES TO CREEP EVEN WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. VERY BAD FEELING-HAD NEW PADS AND ROTORS JUST INSTALLED

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHILE GETTING READY TO ENTER A HIGHWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SPONGY, AND WENT COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. ON PUMPING THE PEDAL, THE BRAKING POWER WOULD COME AND GO. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS UNCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER HAD GONE BAD. THE CAR HAS ONLY 33279 MILES ON IT AND WAS RECENTLY SERVICED BY A NISSAN DEALER.

STRONG PULSATION IN BRAKE SYSTEM WHEN PEDAL IS DEPRESSED FOR A TIME PERIOD AT STOP LIGHT. STRONGER PULSATION IF WHEEL IS TURNED TO MAKE A TURN AT A LIGHT WHILE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THE AFOREMENTIONED HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS AT REST AT A LIGHT OR IN REVERSE AND BRAKES ARE APPILED . ALSO PEDAL MUST BE PUMPED TO STOP CAR AND BRAKES SEEM TO CATCH AND THEN RELEASE AND CATCH AGAIN WHEN STOPPING ,THIS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO PUMP BRAKES TO STOP CAR. THIS HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION ON STREET . THIS NISSAN HAS HAD BOTH THESE PROBLEMS SINCE 20,000 MILES APPROX.
BRAKE PEDAL FADES TO THE FLOOR INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING OR IN PARK. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED BAD MASTER CYLINDER. 65,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. 2/13 PRODUCTION DATE.
WHILE IN MOTION, AN ODD "CREAKING" NOISE WAS EMITTING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL. THIS NOISE, WHILE SIMILAR, WAS NOT THE SAME AS NTB-13-031A, AS THE FIX FOR THAT TSB HAD BEEN DONE ALREADY. THE NOISE WAS REPORTED, AND THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THE HARDWARE FOR THE REAR BRAKE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY DESTROYED. IT WAS STATED THAT THE PAD WAS NOT HOUSED AND WAS ESSENTIALLY SIDEWAYS. BECAUSE OF THIS, THERE WAS EFFECTIVELY 0% BRAKING OCCURRING ON THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THE ENTIRE REAR BRAKING MECHANISM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 36,000 MILES.
EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES, EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP AND PRESS THE BRAKE AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE CAR STARTS MOVING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL LOOSES PRESSURE AND I HAVE TO PUSH MY FOOT FURTHER THAN NORMAL, EVENTUALLY MY FOOT TOUCHES THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE AND I CAN'T PUSH THE BRAKE ANY FURTHER, SO I HAVE TO TAP THE GAS AND THEN RE-ENGAGE THE BRAKE AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE GOING DOWNHILL AND COME TO A STOP. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR NUMEROUS TIMES, THAT IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT THAT ITS BECOME AN INCONVENIENCE TO ACTUALLY OWN THE CAR, TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE NISSAN I PURCHASED (NISSAN OF BERGENFIELD IN NEW JERSEY) AND THEY HAVE SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR, THEY LOOKED AT THE BRAKES AND EVEN APPLIED MORE PRESSURE ON THE LINES BUT STILL THE ISSUE PERSISTS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY THAT VALUES SAFETY WOULD ALLOW THEIR CLIENTS TO BE DRIVING VEHICLES WITH THIS FAULT. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR IN ORDER FOR THEM TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS NOT SAFE BY ANY MEANS, SPECIALLY FOR MY FAMILY WHO I HAVE TO DRIVE AND PICK UP TO AND FROM WORK. I PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED NISSAN AND WHEN I DROVE IT THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE CAR WOULD LEAK FLUID. I TOOK IT IN TO NISSAN AND WAS TOLD IT WAS LOW ON BRAKE FLUID AND NEEDED TO BE REFILLED. THEY REFILLED IT AND ASSURED ME IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THREE WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING BEGAN TO HAPPEN. I TOOK IT BACK TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID THE BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE REFILLED, WHICH DID NOT MAKE SENSE BECAUSE THE BRAKE FLUID SHOULD NEVER LEAK. AFTER DIAGNOSIS THEY FOUND OUT THAT MY ABS ACTUATOR WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS PART SHOULD NEVER BREAK, ESPECIALLY IN A CAR THAT IS SO NEW. FOR THREE MONTHS I WAS DRIVING AROUND A DANGEROUS CAR, AND MY BRAKES COULD HAVE GIVEN OUT AT ANY MOMENT. I'VE LOOKED ONLINE AND NISSAN HAS HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BRAKES, AND THERE WERE SEVERAL NISSAN CUSTOMERS WHO SHARED THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME. *TR

I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN SENTRA WITH 23442 MILES. APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MONTHS AGO, MY BRAKE PEDAL STARTED ACTING WEIRD. WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO STOP OR WHEN TRAFFIC IS SLOW AND I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY STEP ON MY BRAKE, THE BRAKE PEDAL LOOSES PRESSURE AND GOES FURTHER DOWN. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE TO REGAIN PRESSURE. IT CAME TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO ADJUST AND BRING MY SEAT FORWARD BECAUSE I'M TIP TOEING WHEN I BRAKE. ALSO, WHEN I'M ON FULL STOP, AFTER FEW SECONDS THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTS GOING DOWN. TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND THEY TOLD ME ITS NORMAL AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING AS IT SUPPOSE TO BE. BUT I STILL DON'T THINK ITS NORMAL FOR MY CAR TO DO THAT. I HOPE NISSAN PAYS ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUE AND DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT.
BRAKES STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE.-DEALER CONTINUOUSLY DENIED HEARING ANYTHING WHEN THEY CLAIMED THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE. *AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER THEY RESURFACED THE ROTORS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, BUT ISSUE PERSISTED *NOISE FROM BRAKES GOT LOUDER- THEY FINALLY AGREED TO GO IN THE CAR WITH ME AND CONCLUDED THEY DID HEAR THE NOISE-CLAIMED IT WAS THE REAR BRAKES WHICH THEY CLAIMED THEY REPLACED *NOISE PERSISTED,MORE RETURN VISITS- THEY WENT BACK TO STATING THEY DIDN'T HEAR THE SOUND WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT. AT ONE POINT, THE SERVICE MANAGER ACTUALLY STATED I WAS CAUSING THE ISSUE. THAT I HAD TO TRY TO "BRAKE HARDER" AND "SLAM ON THE BRAKE" ONCE IN A WHILE TO "BREAK THE GLAZING" ON THE ROTORS? THEN HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO ANY MORE REPAIRS ON THE BRAKES, BECAUSE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THEM AND SAID I SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. *THEY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH A "DTS" , THEIR TECHNICAL EXPERT, TO MEET ME AT THE SAME DEALER. *THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD ONE OF THEIR MECHANICS DRIVE WITH ME WHILE THEY WAITED FOR THE DTS GUY TO COME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME FOR MAYBE A MINUTE OR SO AND HEARD THE SOUND AS SOON AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND HE DETERMINED ISSUE WAS THE FRONT BRAKES. *DEALER SAID THEY WOULD ONLY LUBE THE FRONT BRAKES TO MAKE THE SOUND STOP. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS AND NOW THEY SAY THEY ARE GOING TO NOW RESURFACE THE FRONT ROTORS AND CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I AM AFRAID THIS IS NOT GOING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT'S ALL THEY ARE DOING ABOUT IT. SO AFTER MONTHS AND MONTHS OF BACK AND FORTH THEY DON'T EVEN SEEM TO BE CONCERNED ON COMPLETELY CORRECTING THE ISSUE. I AM BECOMING MORE AND MORE CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND WANT TO MAKE SURE MY CAR IS NOT GOING TO PLACE ME AND MY CHILDREN IN DANGER.
