I have a 2020 Ram1500 Laramie and the vehicle has developed a water leak. The leak is coming from rear window, window seal, or related components. The result is that the headliner has water stains on the rear passenger and driver side. Continued water leaks have the potential to cause interior mold or electrical problems.

My tailgate opened during a 20 mile drive, much of it on interstate, while I had golf club bags in travel cases in the pickup bed. One of the cases unknowingly fell out onto the road. Fortunately this road was near my home and low speed, 2 lane. Someone stopped and picked them up since they saw them in the road. I am uncertain if my son just didn't properly latch the tailgate or if it came open after being latched but my primary issue here is that there is no warning light in my truck to warn me if my tailgate is open. Had there been I would have pulled over to close and latch it.

The rear window leaks from the top whenever it rains or I wash the truck. The excessive leaking is causing water stains on the seats and the headliner and may cause mold and mildew creating a health issue. The dealer told me this is out of warranty and wants me to pay $174 to diagnose it. RAM Customer Service was also unwilling to do anything to take care of the problem. I don't need to diagnose it, I already know it leaks. Furthermore, they already know because two service memos have been sent to the dealers back in 2021. There was also a class action lawsuit filed for the issue in 2022. The memos acknowledge that RAM is very well aware of the defect, but because they refuse to issue a recall they don't deem it bad enough to take care of it. They also want me to pay for the full repair, why would I pay for the full repair of a known defect, inside or outside of the warranty? Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I am going to have to switch my brand loyalty after buying 3 $60,000 Mopar Vehicles from the same dealership. Seems to me, just taking care of the problem would be well worth that kind of customer loyalty. We'll see what the dealership decides.

Back window leaks allowing water to seap in and build up mold/mildew under head liner. Dealer says this is a common problem with the ram and manufacturer won't cover after factory warranty. Manufacturer is aware of problem but won't recall or fix issue . Mold can cause a health risk if not detected early enough.

I noticed the rear view window mouldings are cracked inside the cabin of my truck by the 3rd brake light. Everytime it rains or wash my vehicle it’s leaking water inside the cabin onto the back seat. I called the local dealer ship (empire Chrysler jeep ram dodge) and set an appointment to get it fixed under warranty. They made me wait two months after the warranty expire to be seen. Now both corporate and the dealership won’t cover the manufacture issue because my truck is out of the warranty. The rear view glass needs to be replaced in order to fix the issue. I do not have glass coverage, and I will not pay to get it replaced. I do not want mold growing inside the cave of my truck, making me and my family sick. I also had a case number with RAM customer care and they told me the same thing.

The bolts holding the muffler to the exhaust pipe sheered off. After speaking with multiple dealers it is a known problem using a smaller bolt in the new body model Ram 1500 DT. The smaller bolt can’t handle the heating/cooling and eventually snaps. But this generally occurs just outside of warranty time. With the undersized bolts used by the manufacturer this causes the exhaust pipe to hang freely and risks the potential to cause injury or death with parts falling. There are many cases like this at dealers across the country and more to come. This body model is just coming up on 3-4 years so more trucks are starting to come in with this issue.

Rear Window had cracked frame due to defect allowed water to enter vehicle during storms running down and blocking vision out back window vision. The water would freeze since defroster malfunctioned from water intrusion hampering visibility. Additionally, resulting water damage to interior and possibly electrical / airbags in ceiling next to frame exposed to water intrusion. Dealer indicated this is consistent problem with all Ram 2020 pickup trucks and older.

The rear window, window seal, or related components have failed and allow water to intrude into the cabin of my vehicle near the back. This water gets the headliner wet and drips down the interior of the rear window, down the rear of the passenger compartment. This water intrusion occurs with very, very light moisture on the vehicle, such as early mornings with morning dew, light rain, or watching the vehicle. The near-daily (due to dew) intrusion of water into the cabin of my vehicle raises safety concerns of mold & mildew in the passenger compartment. My rear window backlite frame is visibly cracked on the interior, matching the symptom pictured in TSB [XXX]. My vehicle has a manufacturer date within the dates noted in the TSB. My vehicle also includes a power sliding window as noted in the TSB. I've been to two dealerships and they both told me they see this problem in RAM trucks "all the time". Both dealers refused to perform a warranty repair under the extended warranty noted in the TSB (150,000 miles) because my VIN is not associated with the TSB in FCA's system even though my vehicle appears to be described as a vehicle affected. I've attached 2 photos to my report. One photo showing the crack as noted in TSB [XXX]. One photo showing the actual crack in my backlite frame. This appears to be a very prevalent issue with a lot of online discussion from many other affected RAM owners. I was on my farm road and I had to back up a long distance. I was surprised to find out the truck is governed not to exceed 20 mph in reverse. While I know most people can’t go in reverse that fast , I do, I can and it’s frustrating knowing I can’t. I look at this as a safety issue because what if I was in a threatening situation and had to back up quickly to get out of that place. So picture in your head someone it trying to do me harm on a single lane road and they have stopped in front of me to carjack me or something similar. I quickly put my car in reverse only to find my max speed is 20 mph. The carjackers car has no limit and they quickly catch me and run me off the road etc etc. I do not need to have that decision of how fast I go in reverse made for me. Is this a new government regulation or something by RAM? I would like an answer.

Afraid of Potential "Black Mold" health exposure due to faulty construction/design/product allowing water to leak into the cab soaking and staining headliner, seats and rugs. The water is absorbed into the insulation and fabrics. Research has confirmed this issue has been reported for more than 15 years. 2020 Ram 1500 Bighorn. Had truck at dealer for issue. A few hundred mile out of warranty, and they would not repair without us paying out of pocket. We feel that Ram should cover this issue being so many of us Ram owners have the same issue

Dash will occasionally flash stop/start unavailable. Second incident yesterday happened while at a red light. Start/stop went unavailable and vehicle stalled and applied parking brake. Both incidents were while stop/start had been on and after releasing the brake. I see there is an open recall for this on the 2021 models. My vehicles build date is June 2020 seems and fall under the timeline for the 21 models but no recall for my vehicle

Rear sliding glass window does not close using OPEN/CLOSE toggle switch (it will open but not close). Dodge technician that looked at it stated the the bottom seal of the rear window had come unglued and was not allowing the window to stay on it's track while closing. As a result, the entire rear glass window had to be replaced.

The dash on my truck is bubbling. I have searched the internet and there seems to be hundreds of complaints of this happening on the new body style Ram. It sounds like a manufacturing issue and I believe should be a recall. It is $3,500 to get the dash replaced and it seems to be happening to a lot of people.

I have a 2020 Ram1500 Laramie and I developed a rear window leak. I am not sure if it was from the break light or the actual window. I did take it to the dealer and it was fixed with a 1 year warranty from the company that repaired it. However, I do not believe this is sufficient. The Truck will be 3 years old in one year as I brought it Aug 2022 and if this happens again in the next 5 years, I believe it should be covered from the manufacture as this has happened to many vehicles from what I can see on the forums. I believe this should be a recall that Ram is responsible for covering for the life of the vehicle.

Tailgate Issue: I own a 2020 RAM 1500 Laramie and at mileage 22,700, while driving down the highway pulling a 30ft travel trailer, the tailgate of my truck opened up without any warning. The tailgate hit the tongue jack on my camper damaging the tailgate and the tongue jack. If it wasn't for the camper jack keeping the tailgate from fully opening, all the contents in my truck bed could have fallen out of my truck onto the highway without me being aware, possibly causing an accident. I called the dealership and they said they were not aware of any recalls for that type of issue and had me bring it in. At that time the dealer fixed a shim recall that I had already had an appointment for, they took pictures of the damage and had me contact Chrysler customer service. The vehicle and camper have not been repaired. I filed a claim with Chrysler and I have an appointment on 11/3/22, with the Chrysler representative to take pictures of my vehicle. On the NHTSB, I have noticed that this same issue has happened to similar vehicles.

Vehicle turns off while driving without any errors or warnings. Vehicle turned off more than 10 times during my commute home when slowing either to turn or coming to a complete stop at a light/stop sign. Vehicle turns completely off and then abruptly applied the parking brake and clunks into park. Vehicle turns off an multiple speeds. When scanning saw the following stored messages. U0159-00 Lost Communication with Parking Assist Control Module U045A-00 Implausible Data Received From Parking Assist Module There is no warning when it stops in order to allow for safely pulling off and the application of the parking brake and slamming into park is abrupt and jarring. No way to restart till vehicle is completely stopped in traffic and then have to shift back into drive. Had more than one vehicle approach quickly as vehicle stalled on a single lane road after a sharp turn with no place to pull off. Vehicle was purchased used with around 20k and have driven it for 4,000 miles trouble free. There appears to be lots of people with similar experiences and no known solution or recall for the 2020 model but there might be ones for the 2021 and 2022. No appointments available at local dealers, trying to get it in, but not safe to drive.

On May 31, 2022 I purchased a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 from Rountree Moore in Lake City Florida. I was sold this vehicle under the pretense that it had been safety checked and the vehicle was road worthy. On June 17, 2022 the front tires became low on air and I had to refill the air pressure in the tires. I was scheduled to go out of town for "Father's Day" weekend and the tires became a concern for me. On Saturday, June 18, 2022 I took my vehicle to Billings Tire in Providence, Florida to check the tires before taking my trip. I was informed that the two front tires must of be originals and never rotated and some of the metal was coming through the tires. Both rear tires were not the correct size tires for this truck and needed to be replaced although they were practically new. I called my dealership salesman, Justin, and relayed the issue to him. He in turn called Billings Tire and spoke with the owner and was suggested to Justin that this issue should have been caught during the safety inspection the dealer performs. I was also informed from Billings Tire that all 4 tires should be replaced because they were safety hazards. I spent over $900.00 on new tires that same day. I have been calling Justin about this issue and he keeps putting me off and tells me is General Manager is not in. It has been a week ago and no resolution. I feel as though I was highly pressured into purchasing this truck just to make a sale and the truck was NOT road worthy. I drive the interstate 5 days a week going to work. I feel I could have been killed as well as placing others in harms way at high speeds.
