Odometer Fraud. The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Camry. The contact purchased the vehicle from a private seller. The contact stated that the selling advertisement reported the odometer reading was 96,187. The contact stated that while registering the vehicle with the local Department of Motor Vehicle, the contact was informed that the previous odometer reading was reported at 290,000. The contact then obtained the Carfax report which confirmed that the last odometer reading was 290,000. The seller was contacted and made aware of the discrepancy.
Second time this has happened in 2 years. Driving on the freeway and the carβs electrical system shuts off. No power to any electrical, lights flicker, all dash lights came on. Car would not start, then to repair it the battery needed to be replaced and the alternator needed to be replaced. Very dangerous as I immediately lose power steering, lights, etc.
I SHUT THE CAR OFF TO PUMP GAS AND WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON TO LEAVE, IT WOULDN'T TURN ON ANYMORE CAUSE THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED. AFTER GOING TO AUTO ZONE, THEY SAID THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND WASN'T CHARGING THE BATTERY. IT ONLY HAS 34,000 MILES ON IT.
I WAS IN A PARKING SPACE,WAITING FOR MY WIFE. ENGINE AND,AIR CONDITIONER WERE RUNNING. WHEN MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND,SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I CALLED TOYOTA FOR ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY CALLED THE NEXT MORNING TO INFORM ME THAT MY STARTER WAS FRIED AND WIRING WAS DAMAGED, 2017 CAMRY SE WITH ONLY 17,265 MILES. I NOW HAVE RENTAL CAR. UNDER 2 YEAR TOYOTA CARE. NO CHARGE.
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ON. WHEN ON - THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO ZERO WHILE CAR IS MOVING. RPM AND WATER TEMP GAUGE GO ALL OVER. WHILE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ON THE A/C IS BLOWING HOT AIR WHILE ON MAX COLD. ALL OF THE ABOVE OCCURS WHILE MOVING OR IDLE
AT 4500 MILES THE NORMAL INDICATORS OF "NEED MAINTENANCE SOON" APPEARED ON THE ALERT SCREEN. SOON THEREAFTER I HAD A "CHECK BRAKING SYSTEM" LIGHT COME ON WHILE I WAS IN REVERSE MODE CAUSING THE PARKING BRAKE SIGN TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH I LET GO OF THE FOOT BRAKE. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ERRONEOUS ALARM. I WAS ALSO ASKED IF I SPENT TIME DRIVING THE CAR WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ON THE ACCELERATOR SIMULTANEOUSLY (WHICH OF COURSE I DID NOT). THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER DRIVING 20 MILES AND IN PARK, THE ALERT SYSTEM SHOWED "CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM". THE MANUAL STATES THIS IS A SERIOUS ALERT AND DRIVING THE CAR WITH THIS ON COULD CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO TELL ME AFTER A THOROUGH INSPECTION THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG AND TO ONLY WORRY IF THE ALERT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR. I HAVE NOT YET BEEN GIVEN AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THESE ALARMS ARE CONTINUING TO COME ON. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT ALL THESE ALARMS HAVE BEEN REMOVED BY THE DEALERSHIP BUT I HAVE TO TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY AT ALL TIMES.
