I was driving down the road when the transmission would no longer change gears. There were no warning lamps or anything to indicate that this was going to happen.

6L80 Transmission blew gears 1-3 at 84,000 miles under normal load. Extended warranty replaced the transmission with rebuilt one and it is slipping and overheating after four months of normal driving. Extended warranty will not cover again.

May 2023

At only 72k on the truck while traveling at 70mph down the freeway the transmission started slipping out of gear causing the motor to rev up causing a loss of power. Luckily I managed to get the vehicle off of the freeway without incident. It seemed to go back to normal than continued to slip within 3-4 miles. It turns out that the transmission pump failed and damaged the entire transmission. The truck was taken into the dealer in approximately 2018/19 because of a transmission shudder, to which the dealership said it was normal and there were no issues with the truck.

Transmission died. Tried to merge highway traffic and wouldn’t accelerate. Push down gas pedal and mph didn’t change but rpm went to 6rpm. Finally engaged. Continued to shudder and hesitate but eventually smoothed out. Had to stop at a traffic light and it did the same thing. Next time I had to stop I completely lost forward motion. Pushed gas pedal and rpm at 6rpm and wouldn’t move. Transmission light came on and had to have it towed. Transmission is being replaced.

I just bought the vehicle in the summer of 2022 and the truck started to shudder so I took it to see if the tired were out of balance and they told me it sounded like a transmission issue. I took it to Lynchburg Transmission and they said after they ran their diagnostics test the transmission is shot and I need a new one. The vehicle only has 103,000 miles and should not need a new transmission on it. I have read online there are tons of 2016 chevy 1500s that have had transmission issues around the same mileage. This should be an issue that Chevy should be addressing and recall.

The family was driving down a busy highway and we felt a strong rapid jerk and heard a loud pop sound. The 2016 Chevy Silverado felt very forced and would not go past 20 miles per hour and the RPM's were between 2 and 3. This problem placed our family at risk because the speed was reduced significantly and could have been hit from behind or could no safely exit the highway. An independent mechanic has checked the truck and confirmed the transmission needs to be replaced as he reproduced the issue on a test drive. No warning signs came on prior to the issue but only after we exited the highway did the "check engine" light came on when we parked. *** Please note we had already replaced the original transmission in Nov. 2021, the exact same issue occurred at that time and it was replaced by a Chevy dealership in Pleasanton, Tx due to the pan was full of metal shavings***

The transmission failed at 96,000 miles even though maintenance had been completed. This could have been a catastrophic failure on the highway my family or others at risk. The dealer has the truck now and confirmed a failed transmission. No warning signs other than odd behavior when accelerating which led to odd noises from the transmission.

I have been experiencing this problem for years, but recently it has been getting worse. When accelerating from a stop there is a shudder in the transmission. The wheels feel like they slip or vibrate upon acceleration from a stop or slow speed. Sometimes the wheels don't spin, and I have to put the truck in 4-wheel drive for the wheels to catch. Sometimes while at a steady speed, like on a highway, the transmission slips and catches quickly, like little thumps. I only have 62,000 miles on my truck. I do not haul heavy loads or tow a trailer.

My truck has 123,700 miles on it. I took my truck to M&T auto mechanic in Grandville, Michigan. They advised me I need a new transmission. I bought my Truck from Berger Chevolet in Grandville, Michigan with zero issues. It had 59,000 miles on it when I bought it used. I have taken very good of this truck and I do not pull anything with it. I feel I should have gotten many more miles out of the transmission. I feel General Motors is at fault for this. Can anyone help me out with this issue?

6l80 transmission filed /malfunctioned it is available or inspection . while driving down a highway running 65mph i noticed a slip in the transmission . all at once my transmission started dropping gears from 6th all the way down to 1st gear .causing increased rpm . i was in the center lane of the highway and could not gain speed to keep up with traffic and was almost hit by a semi truck . as i only had 1st gear 10 mph . i finally managed to get the truck off the highway which left me stranded on the inside lane of a interstate no where to go . i had my family of 5 in my truck on the way home .if it had not been for the fast reaction of the semi driver my family would not be here today . when i got my truck towed home i ran a diagnostic which gave me the code P0796 pressure control soleniod c performance or stuck off. and P0700 transmission control system . i have seen so many youtube videos/ repair videos. of the solenoid pack failure torque converter failure . electrical failure for these trucks i dont understand why their is no recall .

My 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 has just over 100,000 miles, and the transmission is slipping and making a clunking noise which is going to require replacement with a new transmission. I bought this truck with 48,000 miles and it's my daily driver. This truck was not used to haul trailers with heavy loads. There should be a recall for the transmission on the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500. I had a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500, and It had no transmission issues with 275,000 miles on it when I traded it in.

While driving on the highway on ramp, the transmission came out of gear. The engine would accelerate but the transmission would not stay engaged. at this time the check engine light came on. Upon having it towed to a dealership and having the vehicle inspected. It was determined that "the Torque Converter came apart causing metal in the pan when hot vehicle would stop pulling". The transmission has been replaced at considerable expense. Dealer had stated to me that they have seen multiple vehicles with this same issue from 2015 to 2020 models. While we were at the dealership two vehicles were checked in with similar issues. This torque converter issue poses a risk while accelerating/passing other vehicles.

Truck is at 130,000 and the transmission is about failing drastically. I have been telling the dealer that there was a problem with the transmission since 80-90k which the truck seemed to "slip" out of gear and slam into gear, was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I've heard that this year truck is known to have a bad transmission and nothing has been done to fix the issue.

Torque converter in the transmission Is shuttering hard enough to make the entire vehicle shake. Could cause the driver to panic and cause them to loose control of the vehicle while trying to figure out what is happening to the vehicle.

Vehicle transmission slips and shifts extremely hard up until it suddenly failed.

When shifting into second gear truck will jerk sometimes. Can be hard enough that the stuck stops and tires squeal. Also have had transmission flushed and switched the the recommended transmission fluid and didn’t fix the shifting. Also had it stop moving completely, driving then had no power, rpm’s went high but wouldn’t accelerate. Had to have towed. Safety issue, almost rear ended multiple times due to transmission hard shifting. No power on the highway and had to pull over. Not safe!
