SHIFT CABLE BUSHING CAME OFF SHIFTER CABLE. GEAR SHIFT MOVES BUT DOES NOT ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR NOR DOES THE DASH SHIFT INDICATOR SHOW IT IS IN ANY GEAR. TRUCK STARTS, ENGINE REVS AND ALL BREAKS AND LIGHTS ARE WORKING. IT WAS FINE YESTERDAY WHEN I PARKED IT IN MY SLOPED DRIVEWAY. TODAY IT WILL NOT ENGAGE IN ORDER TO DRIVE.

FROM THE SECOND WEEK OF OWNERSHIP, MY VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I WAS VERY PUNCTUAL ABOUT GETTING MY VEHICLE SERVICED AS I PURCHASED A SERVICE MAINTENANCE PLAN AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BELIEVED MY TRANSMISSION WAS BEING LOOKED AT DURING THE SERVICE CALLS. I PRESUMED IT WAS MY IMAGINATION HOWEVER AT 121,000 MY VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FROM THE SPEED OF 45MPH. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THAT TIME. THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT CLEARLY WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY AS IT WAS NOT MOVING WHEN ACCELERATING. THERE WAS NO 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DID ENGAGE INTO GEAR AND MOVED FOR ANOTHER TWO MILES THEN I GOT THE RED WARNING MESSAGE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW". BECAUSE I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE(A 2016 MODEL) I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD THE REPAIR HENCE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE OCTOBER 2019 WHEN IT BROKE DOWN. I SAW A RECALL FOR THE FORD FESTIVA/FUSION THAT DESCRIBED THE SAME SITUATION BUT HAVE NOT SEEN ANY INFORMATION ON A RECALL FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. I HAVE ALSO SEEN COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND FEEL THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. NORMALLY I DRIVE THE FREEWAY BUT THE MORNING IT BROKE DOWN I WAS ON A SURFACE STREET. I FOR SURE WOULD HAVE HAD A BAD ACCIDENT IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. I DO NOT HAVE ANY REPAIR DOCUMENTATION AS I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE AND MAKE PAYMENTS ON IT TOO!

DROVE THE CAR 90 MILES TO THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS OR NO SIGNS THAT ANYTHING WAS GOING WRONG. AFTER THE HOSPITAL VISIT WAS OVER, AND WE STARTED TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL, THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING FORWARD WHILE STILL ACCELERATING. THE ENGINE FAULT FAILURE WARNING APPEARED ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT. I STOPPED THE CAR. SHUT IF OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THE CAR PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD BUT THEN QUICKLY LOST THE DRIVING POWER AGAIN. IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD ON ACCELERATION. WHEN PLACING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR TO MOVE IT WOULD MAKE A CLUNKING NOISE LIKE IT WAS HAVING ISSUES PULLING INTO GEAR. WE ENDED UP STRANDED AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT IN THE HEAVY INTERSECTION OUTSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL. NO.ACCIDENTS HAPPENED. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID IT AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD GARAGE.

JUST AS MY CAR REACHED 61,699 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS. ON MARCH 29, I WAS DRIVING ON RIDGE RD IN OAK RIDGE, NJ AND STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR GOING UP A VERY SLIGHT HILL TO MAINTAIN MY SPEED OF 40 MPH, BUT THE CAR JUST STARTED SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT STARTED ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL AND I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY STEP ON THE BRAKE. THE DIRECTION I WAS GOING IN WAS ON A SINGLE LANE ROAD AND THERE WERE CARS COMING BEHIND ME.THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE OR MOVE. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT NO MOVEMENT. IN FACT, THE CAR STARTED TO GO BACKWARDS INTO THE OTHER CARS BEHIND ME. I IMMEDIATELY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING ANYONE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD. SOMEONE CAME OUT OF THEIR HOME TO HELP ME BACK MY CAR INTO HIS DRIVEWAY WHILE I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. MY CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP AT FETTE FORD IN CLIFTON, NJ. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN HELP ME WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BEING THAT I WAS ONLY 1,699 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. IS IT NORMAL FOR A TRANSMISSION TO GO BAD IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WARRANTY? I AM AN ESSENTIAL WORKER. ALSO, MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP ON 3/2/20 BEFORE THIS HAPPENED FOR WHAT THEY CALL THE WORKS WHERE THEY CHECK ' TIRE ROTATION AND PRESSURE CHECK ' BRAKE INSPECTION ' VEHICLE CHECKUP ' FLUID TOP-OFF ' BATTERY TEST ' FILTER CHECK ' BELTS AND HOSES CHECK AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES. THEY DID NOT PROPERLY SEAL THE OIL PLUG BECAUSE OIL WAS LEAKING OUT OF MY CAR AFTER I LEFT THEM AND I HADN'T NOTICED UNTIL MY HUSBAND TOLD ME. I WOULD THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CATCH ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS VERY BUSY THE DAY I WENT IN FOR THE WORKS AND IT TOOK HOURS TO GET THAT DONE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND AND DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO FOUND TWO UNKNOWN CODES AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE I COULDN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE IT WAS ALMOST LIKE I WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL BUT I WAS CLEARLY IN DRIVE. I BEGAN HAVING OTHER DRIVERS HONK AT ME AND TRYING TO PASS ME, I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME, IT WAS REALLY SCARY. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN IN A ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED MY HAZARDS ON, AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE MECHANIC SAID MY TRANSMISSION WAS DONE AND I NEEDED A NEW ONE, HE ALSO SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ESCAPES. I REPAIRED IT IT COST 5600$. THE PART THAT BOTHERED ME MOST WAS WHEN I CONTACTED FORD THEY DIDN'T CARE ONE BIT. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART AND MAKE IT RIGHT AND STAND BEHIND THEIR NAME, BECAUSE I GUARANTEE THEY ARE FULLY AWARE OF THIS HAPPENING AND YET FAIL TO RECALL IT AND FIX IT.

WHILE TRAVELING AWAY FROM HOME, THE SPEED CHANGED FROM 40 MPH TO 55 MPH. WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER WAITING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR THREE HOURS, MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE WITH 69,123 MILES, WAS TOWED BACK TO MY HOMETOWN TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC. AFTER LOOKING OVER THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TRANSFERRED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED. A COUPLE DAYS LATER, THE TECH CALLED AND STATED THE TRANSMISSION DID IN FACT NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $7505.00. THE GM OF THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST, AS 'FORD HAS NO ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSIONS.' THE GM FURTHER STATED I COULD ROLL OVER WHAT I OWED AND DRIVE OFF IN A BRAND NEW ESCAPE FOR $500.00 A MONTH. AFTER RESEARCH, IT'S CLEAR THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE DEFECTIVE, COSTING MANY PEOPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO OUR TRUSTED MECHANIC WHERE IT WILL BE REPAIRED FOR $3500.00.

MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE TORQUE CONVERTER IN MY TRANSMISSION EXPLODED AT 85,000 MILES. AAMCO TOLD ME ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND TRAVELLING AROUND 30 MPH. COST $5400.00 TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE METAL SHAVINGS WENT BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. VERY DANGEROUS!

SLIPPAGE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY, THEN FREQUENTLY AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED. SLIPPAGE OCCURRED WHENEVER CAR WAS SLOWED AND TRANSMISSION ATTEMPTED TO DOWNSHIFT AND THEN ACCELERATE AFTERWARD. VERY DANGEROUS AT INTERSECTIONS, ESPECIALLY WHEN TAKING LEFT HAND TURNS IN TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD AND SLIGHTLY OVER 60K MILE WARRANTEE LIMIT. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $6500.

VEHICLE STALLED ONE TIME AND AFTER STARTING BACK UP IT WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE BUT NO MORE THAN 20-40MPH. HAD TO KEEP PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING TO GET VEHICLE TO KEEP MOVING TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. WARNING MESSAGE FINALLY CAME UP TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW. HAD NO PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES OR MESSAGES. THIS ALL HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY.

THE RPM NEEDLE KEPT JUMPING AS IF IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. I STOPPED , STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVEWAY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED FOR A MIN OR 2 THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, AFTER THAT THE CAR FINALLY SHIFT INTO GEAR, AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK MY CAR. THE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON SAYING TRANMISSIONS FAILURE SERVICE NOW OR SOMETHING TO THAT AFFECT. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD SEEING HOW I WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, FINALLY AFTER A MONTH , GOT MY CAR BACK. THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION JUST PARTS OF IT FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD -MANS A HOSE FOR MY HEATER. NOW A FEW WEEKS LATER, MY CAR IS MAKING THE SAME NOISE.

I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN TRIED TO PUT VEHICLE BACK IN GEAR. GEARSHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED AND VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY IN NEUTRAL I HAD TO PUT EMERGENCY BRAKE ON TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM ROLLING AND HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO HAVE BUSHING JOINING TRANSMISSION TO SHIFTER CABLE REPLACED. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER PREVIOUS RECALL FOR 2014 ESCAPES AND VERY OBVIOUSLY IS STILL A PROBLEM.

2016 FORD ESCAPE WITH LESS THAN 80 THOUSAND MILES WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE RANDOMLY ONE DAY. ENGINE WOULD REV. DEALERSHIP STATED THERE WAS METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION PAN AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY COULDN'T TELL ME THE CAUSE AND THAT IT WOULD COST 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS. FORD DOES NOT RECOMMEND TRANSMISSION SERVICE UNTIL 150 THOUSAND MILES AND THEIR WARRANTY EXPIRES AT 60 THOUSAND MILES BECAUSE THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE A CAR PAYMENT AND NO CAR. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THEIR SHOTTY PRODUCT.

I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE NORMAL UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE. IT CURRENTLY HAS 87,000 MILES ON IT, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVVING WHEN I WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE GAS, TO NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL WHEN I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS A GASKET THAT FAILED AND CAUSED A TRANSMISSION LEAK. AND THANKS TO THE DESIGN TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I CAN CHECK MYSELF.

I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE NORMAL UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE RELIABLE AFTER I HAD MY DAUGHTER. IT CURRENTLY HAS 86,850 MILES ON IT, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THANKFULLY ON BACK ROADS, I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVVING WHEN I WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE GAS, TO NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL WHEN I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MY MECHANIC TRIED A FLUSH, WHICH HAD IT WORKING LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, WHERE IT COMPLETELY QUIT ACCELERATING AFTER I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. THIS CAR IS IN IMPECCABLE SHAPE OTHERWISE, HAS LESS THAN 90K MILES ON IT, AND IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON IT SHOULD BE NEEDING A COMPLETELY NEW TRANSMISSION.

FAILURE OF THE SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE. CAR WILL NOT GO INTO PARK OR REVERSE. VEHICLE WAS AT A HOSPITAL PARKING LOT AND MY WIFE THOUGHT IT WAS IN PARK REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION, EXITED VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO THE PARKING LOT TRAFFIC. SHE IMMEDIATELY JUMP BACK IN THE CAR AND APPLIED THE FOOT BREAK, PLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND TURNED ON FLASHERS.

NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,100.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK THE RPMS REVVED UP. THE TRANSMISSION FAULT WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE BROKE DOWN ON THE MORNING OF FRIDAY, JANUARY 24TH. NO WARNING, NO PRIOR ISSUES OCCURRED. IT WAS A COMPLETE SHOCK. THE WARNING LIGHT, 'TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW,' CAME ON ONLY WHEN THE CAR BROKE DOWN. NOT ONLY WAS IT SCARY, BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. AS A RESULT, WE HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE ANDERSON FORD DEALERSHIP (ANDERSON, SC) WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR'S WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. MY CAR HAS 62.5K MILES. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS OF NO HELP. EVEN CONTACTING THE FORD CORPORATION BROUGHT VERY LITTLE IF ANY RELIEF. THERE'S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THIS IS A FAULTY PART. I'VE NOT SEEN A RECALL, BUT I HAVE NOTICED MANY SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE BEEN POSTED. PLEASE HELP!

THE CAR JUST QUIT WITHOUT ANY WARNING STOPPED DEAD. LEFT ME STRANDED AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS DRIVING FINE AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW THE TACT WAS GOING WAY UP AND MY SPEED WAS NOT. THEN THE TRANSMISSION FAULT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. THIS WAS ON A RURAL ROAD BUSY TRAFFIC.

I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS. THE OTHER DAY I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE MY CAR WOULD MOVE. THE RPM WENT UP BUT NO MOVEMENT. FINALLY IN SLAMMED INTO GEAR SO I COULD MOVE AND PARK. UP UNTIL THIS DAY I HAD NO ISSUES THAT WOULD MAKE ME SUSPECT THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I DEFINITELY NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHEN MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO THE MAN HE ASKED IF IT WAS COMMON IN THAT VEHICLE FOR THE TRANSMISSION NOT TO LAST. THE MAN TOLD HIM YES THAT IT IS A FAULTY DESIGN ON FORDS PART AND THAT THEY ACTUALLY HAVE ANOTHER ONE AT THERE SHOP FOR THE SAME.PROBLEM. I AM BY NO MEANS HARD IN MY VEHICLE AND I DONT FEEL THAT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SHOULD BE SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN A VEHICLE THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD.

WHILE DRIVING IN HIGHWAY, CAR BEGAN TO INCREASE ACCELERATION SUDDENLY AND BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED. TRANSMISSION COULD NOT ENGAGE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. STRANDED IN HIGHWAY. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALER. MILEAGE WAS 61,700 AND FORD REFUSED COVER UNDER 60K POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT BY DEALER AT A COST OF $3,400.
