2016 Ford Explorer UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Driving on bridge Tampa Florida when I heard a loud noise and briefly felt like I ran over something. Once at destination, discovered the driver's side panel between windshield and door was missing.

Pillar Trim piece next to windshield on the passenger side flew off my car while driving the speed limit of 70 MPH on I-95 in Florida. The part flew off and hit the trailer of a tractor trailer in the neighboring lane. No one was hurt, but it's ridiculous that a trim piece that displayed no signs of damage would just fly off of the vehicle.

When I was driving at 55 mph with a 25 mph crosswind my windshield trim broke apart and got thrown into the on coming lane of traffic because the white retaining tabs holding the trim in broke and then some of trim held because of the attachment of rubber the rubber was torn a bit because of the trim ultimately failing.

In 2020 the right windshield trim detached and flew from the car while driving down the interstate. I didn't know what happened and I thought maybe something hit my car. On March 22, 2023, while driving on the interstate, the left side detached and flew off the car into the left lane of the interstate. I don't know if it hit another car or not. It was too dangerous to try and stop and find it. This is a factory defect that could potentially cause someone to wreck. It has cost me about 600.00 to replace. I feel Ford should pay for the replacement. I understand parts get old and fail but I don't think "Detachment" is included in that. Your help is appreciated. When it rains, somehow water comes into the vehicle and it gets wet. There has been puddles of water in the driver and/or on the passages side. When I took it to a body shop they mentioned that the water leakage could’ve made the heated seats malfunction.

The driver windshield trim flew off my 2016 Ford Explorer as I was going down the highway. I saw where this has made the news and wanted my report included in it. Nobody was hurt and I was unable to retrieve the trim.

While driving down the highway the passenger side A pillar windshield trim broke in half and flew backwards impacting passenger window. The broken piece of trim remain attached by a rubber seal. At highway speeds this caused the piece to impact the side window many times. Had to pull off the road and cut the seal to remove the broken trim.

While driving on any damp/wet/or dirt terrain the rear end of the vehicle will slide side to side even though I am steering normally. Driving in town I have drifted sideways into the other lane of traffic barely avoiding an accident.

My 2016 Ford Explorer, with 68,000 miles has a leak in the rear A/c lines and lost all the coolant. This appears to be a common problem with the Ford explorer. Is the leaking into the environment an issue? Ford does not have a recall on this issue. To fix it, the Ford dealer told me it would be $2,500. I opted for a block off kit to block off the rear a/c that cost $166 plus labor of $637 for a total cost of $803. Interesting that they make a block off kit which tells you that this is a common problem.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to shake and then stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that water was entering the vehicle through the sunroof. The contact stated that the sunroof failed operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the contact was informed that the sunroof needed to be opened to be diagnosed. The sunroof was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

Rear a/c lines and evaporator damaged due to corrosion from elements. Was told it would cost $2000+ and not covered under warrenty or extended warranty. This is odd because Ford knows its a problem and has issued other recalls for the same reason in the same location (rear) just to different parts.

Out of no where there is a chemical/propane smell. Took it to a ford dealer. They said my water pump is causing it. Got that fixed and the smell is still there. The small is so bad I get a head ache and nausea every time I drive it. Took it to another mechanic and he acknowledges the smell but can not figure it out. There are no warning lights on. I am scared to drive my own car.

rear suspension issue, causes both rear tires to wear abnormally on outside edge. causes unstable handling. had the vehicle realighned twice, 4000 miles between alighnments. the vehicle has now worn out two sets of new back tires and continues to exhibit unstable handling.

Both of my roof side rails have come off while driving down the road. This could have seriously harmed another driver behind me. There were no warnings of this. Nobody can inspect them because they are in pieces now as they were ran over.

3 weeks ago my vehicle has had an exhaust smell in the cabin, the car has been in the shop since. I started googling to see what the issue could potentially be and found your lawsuit. My vehicle is currently at Blake Utter Ford in Dennison TX getting diagnostics ran. My concern is my son and I have experienced nausea, dizziness, vomiting(my son), fatigue, and bloody noses after we exit the vehicle. Ford has known about this issue under Field service actions 17N03 and 19N05. If Ford has known of the issue why will they not make the issue an active recall? This is a health and safety concern, and could potentially be fatal. I have called Ford and filed an official complaint, there is nothing they will do since there are no active recalls on my vehicle, so we have to foot the bill?? They asked if I had a warranty, which I do, but if I didn't? This is would be a large expense. When I called [XXX] in McKinney, TX they didn't seem to care or know anything about the exhaust leak, they had a 10 day wait for diagnostics, with no rental vehicles. I called Blake Utter Ford where we purchased the vehicle, they have a 2-day wait for diagnostics, and same no rental vehicles. I have 3 children and two jobs I cannot be without a car. Who knows how long the repairs will take? I have never received any correspondence regarding the Class action suit, how can I be included? There has not yet been an incident, however, the Ford dealer is not returning any calls or service schedule requests to have the RECALL repairs done, and I am concerned the problems may become worse to the point that there is an incident. Can NHTSA force Ford to get their dealers to prioritize recall repairs?

When the SUV is warm there is a odor of something burning. Has been a couple of years now.

Hello, this is a issue with the heating and air conditioning. when i turn on the heat i have it set to anything about 75 degrees, the suv is blowing out cold air. and sometimes the AC turns on blowing air but the light for the AC is not turned on.

YOU CAN SMELL EXHAUST IN THE CABIN. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE THE HIGHER THE HEATER IS TURNED UP. IT IS IRRITATING TO THE EYES. FORD DENIES THIS BEING A PROBLEM BASED ON OUR VIN.

The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and had the power transfer unit replaced. The contact also stated while driving at various speeds on 10/4/52021, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the power steering to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,800.

Extreme sulphur/rotten egg smell coming into the cabin. It also reeks of exhaust fumes that are making me nauseous and light headed. This comes out of the A/C and you can smell it when you exit the vehicle too.

Constant smell of exhaust inside the vehicle. Took it to dealer and they could not figure out issue.

2016 Ford Explorer Sport. Roof rail recall may be the cause for extreme water damage that burned out the sunroof motor, drenched the interior carpet, interior roof material, navigation and charging docks do not work. Ford not acknowledging and states after diagnostic check I have to pay 2600 to replace motor and once sunroof opens they can determine where the water leak is coming from. Also after complaining of carbon monoxide smell in cabin and multiple doctors visit with dizziness, trouble breathing I found that this is not just an issue I’m having. This car has had many more issues and Ford just repeats that warranty doesn’t cover it warranty expired. These are huge issues with the manufacturing. Car only has 35k miles and issues started in 2020.

i have had NOTHING but issues with this vehicle and have made more calls to complain to ford with no help. as an example i complained for 2 years about this rattle and clunk in my transmission..finally i got the ford dealership in clarion, pa to believe me..here it was the torque converter..after 2 years of complaining and after i got it back...a week later..i get a recall notice from ford! but, the purpose of this is my tailgate...has a mind of it's own...it will open on it's own and close...i don't know how many times this has happened...thank God it hasn't happened while i am driving...i have had it to the garage...nothing can be found...yet i researched this issue and found others having similar experience!!!! i have called ford and of course...they refuse to acknowledge my concerns...i have been clunked on the head more than once loading groceries...hopefully you will be an agency that actually does something as opposed to those that talk tough...but do nothing! thank you.
