The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after reversing the vehicle and then shifting to drive(D), the vehicle rolled backward with the transmission failure warning light illuminated. The contact was able to depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped, stalled, and could not be restarted. The contact disconnected the battery and waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle and driving to the residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were contacted but offered no assistance. The contact was notified that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was 91,000.

Transmission failure while driving causing a safety issue for myself and others while immobilized in traffic. While stopped at a red light on a highway, my car failed to move forward when pressing the gas. There were no warning lights. Eventually after several tries the car lurched forward. A warning light finally came on when I reached my destination a mile away. The car was taken to a dealer who diagnosed transmission failure. The car has 63K miles on it and now requires a 5K repair to the transmission. The vehicle is still not repaired due to parts shortages.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty and the VIN was not included in a recall associated to the failure. The transmission shifting cable bushing has gone bad. My car will not shift into park it’s stuck in neutral. Ford tried transferring but couldn’t. I was instructed to file report online. I have a case number for assistance for repairs.

Placed wheel blocks behind the wheels because it was "parked" at an angle. I can't understand how the 2017 is excluded from the previous years recalls for the shift bushing issue. After checking the bushing, the car did start but will not shift.

A bushing attaching the shift cable to the transmission is plastic and failed preventing the shifter from moving into Drive or Reverse. This is a known Ford recall for the "shifter cable bushing" on almost 3 million Ford Fusions, but dealership stated that my Ford Fusion does not fall into the recall. Dealer charged $588.99 to repair a known Ford defective part that cost $3.68.

Unable to place vehicle in park or shift vehicle with reliability. Vehicle does not safely reflect the gear that it is in (i.e. Lever in Park, transmission is actually in Reverse). While vehicle is in a gear, it may not actually move at all. Currently displays error message: Shift SYS Fault, Service required.

Shift linkage bushing disintegrated causing the shift linkage to separate completely from the transmission. Lost all ability to put car into any gear, including neutral. Couldn't even override the transmission selector lockout to put car into neutral as entire transmission was disengaged. Car was immobilized in the middle of the road while my girlfriend attempted to parallel park. Whole front half of car was left stuck in the traffic lane. Incident happened around 1pm Pacific time on 10/25/21. Dealer said my specifc VIN isn't covered under recall affecting similar Ford Fusion/Edge models. There were warning lights that appeared on 10/22 or 10/23. I can't remember for certain. At that point the car still shifted fine. I thought it was some kind of electrical malfunction or malfunction with the gear selector dial.

TL* THE CONTACT'S GIRLFRIEND OWNS A 2017 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD EMIT AN ABNORMAL HUMMING NOISE WHILE IDLE AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ALSO AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CHARCOAL CANISTER WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V427000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH THE CONTACT LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.

Was driving my cat and it popped up shift system fault. I couldn't move my car. It stalled in the middle of the road. I contacted several people about this. Found out the shifter cable came loose from the transmission. The clamp that hold its on was gone.i happened to just backed up and this happened. If this was to happen driving this could have resulted in a serious accident

Cracked Flexplate on 2.0L EcoBoost motor. Apparently this is a common issue on those Ford motors and it is not a recall, what I think it should be once it is a manufacturing defect and a repair will cost about 4K.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

My 2017 Ford Fusion 2.0L AWD with ~ 70k mileage car started to show an acceleration hesitation when starting from a stop on Thursday and Friday of the week. The following Monday morning, my car would start to vibrate when at a stop sign or traffic light when in drive. Over the following couple days, the vibration became excessive to the point that the car would vibrate excessively and stall if left in Drive when at a stop. When one is at a stop and puts the car into Park, the engine RPM's immediately surge and then settle down to a normal RPM. There were no warning lamps or messages on the dash. I took the car to my local Meineke on Friday of the same week and they determined that it was a Torque Converter issue and that is something that they could not do. I then took the car to my the nearest Ford Dealership in which they confirmed that the Torque Converter was indeed the issue. They said that they did get Warnings from their obd reader but there are still no warning lamps on the dash. The Ford Dealership filed a claim with Ford as a Torque Converter and/or Transmission are a known issue at this time. My car is the same model year, made at the same factory in the same assembly time as a known recall. My issue is similar to Recall no. 17V427000, but not exactly the same yet. Ford declined my car for a recall. If one Googles the same model and issue, there are a LOT of people with the same issue around the same mileage. I'm continuing to hesitantly drive as I need to get to/from work. I'm proceeding with getting the Torque Converter/Transmission replaced via the Ford Dealership at at a cost of ~ $5k as I have no other options at this time.

THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT MY DRIVEWAY EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I BEGAN TO PICK UP SPEED AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP, WRENCH LIGHT, THEN IT JUST DOWNSHIFT HARD STOPPED. CAR CAME TO A HALT AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE. ONCE I GOT THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD, I LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE, THE RUBBER BUSHING WAS GONE. I CAN PICK THE ENTIRE CABLE UP AND DO IT WHATEVER I WANT WITH IT. I'VE LOOKED AROUND AND I AM SEEING MANY OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. THE ONLY SCARY THING IS MY DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME THIS MORNING WHEN IT HAPPENED, BUT THANKFULLY OUR ROAD ISN'T BUSILY TRAVELED ON.
