2018 Honda Accord FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My Honda Accord Sport has only 47,500 miles and it needs a new Fuel Rail. Code P2187. I have had Hondas for over 20 years and this has never happened before. I read that some 2018 honda model had extended warranty for Fuel Injectors. The Honda Accord should fall under that extended warranty.

2018 Honda Accord 1.5 with 56k miles: while driving on the freeway, all the warning lights came on and jerked. Pulled over for a safety measure and turned engine off and turned it back on. Error code did not clear. My first initial thought was a file injector issue. Took it to the shop, After diagnosis, they said it was a misfiring (I’m like ok) they replaced coil and spark plug. After 1-2 months, tissue had came back. I checked a error code and it was another misfire. After a thorough search, looks like Honda has been having issues with fuel injectors but is not acknowledging the problem. They keep getting a misfire code on cylinder 4, but after checking the coil and spark plugs they said nothing is wrong.

Went to drive my car all the warning lights were going off, emissions warning, collision mitigation system disabled etc. Lack of power so parked car and took to dealership. Dealership said it is the fuel injectors and need replaced.

Engine suddenly started to have a rough idle. All warning lights turned on. Took car to dealer, left it for 2 days. They said that there was a misfire present on cylinder #3 & that after driving the car, the lights then did not appear. They could not reproduce the error. They recommended that I replace the spark plugs, ignition coils , & have a fuel injection clean done. A few days later, all warnings lights turn on after a rough idle and misfire occurred frequently. Took vehicle to a local shop, they also said there was a misfire present. Local shop also recommended that I replace the spark plugs, ignition coils, and have a fuel injection clean done. I replaced all items and conducted the fuel injection clean as suggested. Problem still exists and is not resolved. Dealer and local shop say that the injectors may need to be replaced as this is a constant issue with this engine. Vehicle has 95,000 miles. Fuel injectors seem to be the culprit. My vehicle is available for inspection. During the misfires, the car suddenly lost engine power and momentum. This was dangerous as this occurred several times on highway driving. The problem has caused a failed vehicle inspection report at a local shop even when warning lights disappeared. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacture, insurance, police, or others. Warning lights and symptoms first appeared on March 31st.

All warning lights are lit after taking to dealer for a recall. After that the car would randomly lose power and could stall.

Fuel pump failed in vehicle 3 seperate times. All three times the vehicle had every warning light on including emissions system, cruise control disabled, lane keeper assistance disabled, power steering disabled and 7 other warning lights. Vehicle was brought into a honda dealership 3 times and issue was diagnosed 3 different ways. Issue #1 was rodents chewed wires, Issue #2 was cmp sensor error, Issue #3 was the fuel pump needed to be replaced. Because of the fuel pump the engine would stall/not be able to accelerate almost causing an accident because car would stall if gas pedal was pressed down as normal to reach normal speeds. Dealership confirmed the warning lights and sluggish acceleration and stalling of the engine. Recalls are available for some 2018-2019 and 2020 accords but according to my VIN my car was supposedly not included. Issues first appeared around almost at the 3 year mark and vehicle was just over 15.5k miles.

2018 Honda Accord was purchased in February 2021 used from a Honda dealership which came with 1 year bumper to bumper warranty. I noticed my engine light as well as all of the Honda sensing lights on in my dashboard. Honda told me my fuel injectors need to be replaced and is charging me $1600 even though my 1 year warranty is still active.

IN JANUARY ,I MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED ON ME AND STOP RUNNING. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE, AND I FELT LIKE I PUT MYSELF AND 2 OTHER PASSENGERS IN DANGER. I TOOK IT INTO MY DEALER COGGIN HONDA IN FORT PIERCE FLORIDA TO BE CHECKED. THEY FOUND NO OBVIOUS REASON FOR THIS STALL. SOMETIME LATER, I READ ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP THAT DESCRIBED MY EVENT EXACTLY AS I HAD EXPERIENCED IT. WHEN I CHECKED THE RECALL, MY VIN # [XXX] IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER AND YOUR PUBLIC RELATIONS THAT SAID THEY CAN NOT REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE ITS NOT ON THE LIST. I HAVE SAFELY DRIVEN HONDAS FOR MANY YEARS BUT WITH THIS SITUATION I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND HESITATE TO TRADE IT IN FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DRIVE. CAN YOU HELP ME AND GIVE MY DEALER PERMISSION TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THIS FUEL PUMP AT YOUR EXPENSE AS IT SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST ? FUEL IS LEAKING INTO ENGINE OIL. MY MECHANIC SAID HE CAN SMELL THE FUEL IN THE OIL WHEN CHANGING OIL. ALSO THE OIL LEVEL INCREASES WHEN CHECKING OIL LEVEL OVER TIME. THIS OCCURS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION.

AFTER CAR HAS WARMED UP, UPON A RESTART, GASOLINE ODOR COMES THROUGH AIR VENTS AS CAR IDLES. THIS IS ON THE 2.0L TURBO ENGINE IN THE SPORT MODEL.

UPON COMPLETION OF THE DRIVING THE CAR, I WILL PUT THE CAR INTO THE GARAGE. AFTER 10-20 MINUTES HAS PASSED, I WALK OUT TO THE GARAGE AND THE WHOLE GARAGE SMELLS LIKE UNBURNT FUEL. ON OCCASION IF THE TIME BETWEEN DRIVES IS SHORT, THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE CAR WILL ALSO SMELL LIKE FUEL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES SO FAR, WITH NO LUCK HELPING. TODAY WILL BE THE 5TH TIME IN THE FIRST 20000 MILES. I PUT IT AS LAST WEEK BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT MADE ME SEND IT BACK TO DEALER YET AGAIN, BUT THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR MONTHS.

FUEL TANK COVER DID NOT OPEN . VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.

SIMILAR TO NHTSB COMPLAINT ID# 11111897, VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE IN MOTION ON 7/21/208 ON HIGHWAY IN CONGESTION WHILE RAINING. IT HAS SINCE BEEN TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE CURRENTLY UNDERGOING REPAIR WORK. I WAS TOLD FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY. I HOPE THIS SOLVES THE ISSUE AND DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AS I WAS PUT IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT AFTERNOON.

VEHICLE LOSES POWER ON A HIGHWAY IN CONGESTION WHEN IT IS RAINING

PROBLEM WITH FUEL FILLER LID ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY FREEZES CAUSES INABILITY TO PUSH IN AND OPEN THE FUEL DOOR. DEALER CONTENDS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NO ETA ON REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS ONLINE AND HONDA HAS NOT RESPONDED DIRECTLY TO A TICKET OPENED ON THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SITE.
