TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE HEAD LAMP BULB REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V136000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP SUDDENLY WENT OUT. NEW BULBS ONLY LAST ABOUT A YEAR, AS I HAVE REPLACED THIS BULB 4 TIMES NOW
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT WHEN I NOTICED IT WAS VERY DARK IN FRONT OF MY CAR. IT TURNED OUT BOTH OF MY LOWBEAMS HAD FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. THANK GOODNESS MY HIGHBEAMS KEPT WORKING, ALTHOUGH THAT MEANT SHINING A LIGHT IN ONCOMING DRIVERS' EYES. I THOUGHT THIS WAS JUST AN ODD PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED TO ME, BUT AFTER READING OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES, I KNOW IT WAS PART OF A LARGER PROBLEM HONDA HAS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. YOU CANNOT BE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND HAVE BOTH OF YOUR HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. *TR
2006 HONDA CRV LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS KEEP FAILING ON PASSENGER SIDE. BULB REPLACEMENT DOES NOT FIX PROBLEM. DEALER HAS NOT IDENTIFIED PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER THE HEADLIGHT BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES, THE RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT NO LONGER LIGHTS. THE BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW, THE OLD BULB IS COMPLETELY INTACT (FILAMENT AS WELL AS GLASS- NO BURNED MARKS AT ALL), AND THE FUSES ARE NOT BLOWN. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND IN FACT HONDA HAS RECALLED 550,000 PREVIOUS PILOT AND CR-V MODELS FOR THIS FAILURE. SEEMS THE WIRING HARNESS IS TOO SHORT, AND DISCONNECTS THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE, AND IS NOT DUE TO OWNER ERROR. THANK YOU. *TR
BOTH LOW HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT SAME TIME. THE DAY BEFORE THEY WORKED. USUALLY ONE GOES AT A TIME BUT THAT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TWICE A YEAR. SHOULD IT? I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE WHERE I HAVE TO CHANGE THE BULBS SO MUCH. AND NOW BOTH! SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG ESPECIALLY WHEN I READ SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. HEADLIGHTS HAVE REPEATEDLY BLOWN OUT OVER THE PAST YEAR UNEXPECTEDLY. HAVE CHANGED EACH BULB 4 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULBS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS BURN OUT EVERY 5-7 WEEKS, ESPECIALLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WITH CONSTANT ROAD HAZARDS SUCH AS DEER, WINDING UNLIT ROADS AND ICY PATCHES. WHEN THE HEADLAMP BLOWS IT CREATES A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD SINCE ONE LIGHT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SAFELY AVOID THE NUMEROUS HAZARDS I FACE ON A DAILY BASIS. I RETURN HOME FROM WORK AFTER DARK AND AM NEVER SURE IF MY LIGHTS WILL MAKE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE COMMUTE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM 2006 HONDA CRV OWNERS AND SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. *JS
WE HAVE CHANGED THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES THAT I HAVE LOST COUNT. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO HONDA AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I FIND IT IRONIC THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS FOR THE SAME VEHICLE BUT DIFFERENT YEAR AND HONDA IS NOT TAKING ANY BLAME FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEIR IS NO RECALL FOR THIS YEAR. CURRENTLY MY DAUGHTER HAS THIS VEHICLE AWAY AT COLLEGE FOUR HOURS FROM HOME AND SHE HAS TO DEAL WITH A CAR AND NO HEADLIGHTS ! *TR
I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE HEADLIGHT FAILURES OVER THE PAST 2 1/2 YEARS, ALMOST ALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND DESPITE THIS, THE HEADLIGHTS CONTINUES TO BURN OUT. LAST TIME IT WAS "FIXED" IT BURNED OUT THE NEXT DAY. LAST FALL, I HAD BOTH LIGHTS BURN OUT WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. AFTER AN ON-LINE SEARCH IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A PERVASIVE PROBLEM WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED BY EITHER THE DEALER OR THE NTSB. *TR
REPEATEDLY THE HEADLIGHT BULBS BLOW OUT. PURCHASED CAR USED 10/2012, REPLACED BULB 12/2012, AGAIN 6/2013 AND NOW ANOTHER ONE BLOWN 10/2013. *TR
WIRING HARNESS ON PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS BREAKING LEADING TO MARKER LIGHT, TURN SIGNAL AND HEADLAMP FAILURE. THE WIRES ARE BREAKING AT THE POINT WHERE THEY LEAVE THE WIRE SLEEVE IN THE HARNESS. IN THIS LOCATION, THE CONDUCTORS ARE PROTECTED FROM STRESS ONLY BY HEAT SHRINK TUBING AND THE WIRE INSULATION. STRESS FROM THE WEIGHT OF THE RISING WIRE HARNESS AND TRANSFERRED STRAIN FROM THE BACK OF THE LAMP CONNECTORS IS HIGHEST AT THIS POINT. MELTING OF THE WIRE INSULATION AND HEAT SHRINK TUBING WAS FOUND. *TR
THIS VEHICLE BLOWS OUT HEADLIGHTS CONSTANTLY. WE REPLACE NEARLY EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS; THIS VEHICLE, AND ITS TWIN, OUR 2005 CRV. WE HAVE REPEATEDLY NOTIFIED HONDA OF THE PROBLEM, THEY DENY A PROBLEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE HEADLIGHTS ONLY WORK FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES EACH. WE EVEN HAVE SEARCHED AMAZON, EBAY TO SEE IF THEY SELL THEM IN HUNDRED PACKS, ITS THAT RIDICULOUS. WE WERE HEADING TO THE STORE TO BUY A HEADLAMP ONCE--10 MINUTE TRIP, TOPS, AND THE OTHER BLEW OUT ON THE WAY, LEAVING US DRIVING ILLEGALLY WITH THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE, AND DANGEROUS, IRRITATION WITH THESE CARS. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP SEVERAL BULBS ON HAND AS A CONDITION OF OWNING A CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT STOPPED ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AT ALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. *TR

BOTH LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED ON NOVEMBER 25, 2012 WHILE ON A CROSS-COUNTRY TRIP. A HONDA DEALER CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND REPORTED NO PROBLEMS. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH BULBS AND ADVISED THAT HONDA CR-VS WERE PRONE TO HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS. ON THE EVENING OF APRIL 23, 2013 (LESS THAN FIVE MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST DOUBLE FAILURE, VEHICLE MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY 106,800 MILES), BOTH LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND REPORTED NO PROBLEMS. THIS DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE BULBS AND ADVISED THAT HONDA CR-VS WERE PRONE TO HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS. IN BOTH INSTANCES, WE NOTICED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FAILURES AT DUSK, AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN NOVEMBER 2005 AND THESE ARE THE ONLY INSTANCES OF HEADLIGHT FAILURE. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BURNED OUT 6 TIMES FOR EACH SIDE (I'VE REPLACED 6 ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE & 6 ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE) SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 6 YEARS AGO. THE IRONIC THING IS THAT I USED TO OWN A 2003 CR-V AND I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL FOR THE 2002-2004 MODELS FOR "POTENTIAL FAILURE WITH THE WIRING OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WHICH MAY CAUSE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TO FAIL". I DID A BIT OF RESEARCH AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE REPLACED THE LOW BEAM BULBS 4 TIMES THE PAST 2 YEARS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND 2 TIMES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS TIME THE DRIVERS SIDE WENT OUT AND AFTER TRYING 2 NEW BULBS THEY STILL WILL NOT ILLUMINATE. I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE DASH LIGHT NOT COMING ON. THE VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED FOR A CHECK IN 4 DAYS. OVER THE LIFE OF THIS CAR THE BULBS SEEM TO LAST A VERY SHORT TIME. *JB
AMBLER PA, PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BLOWN OUT THREE TIMES IN 11 MONTHS. FEB 2012, JANUARY 2013 AND LAST NIGHT 02/02/13 DURING A SNOW STORM. DRIVER SIDE HAS BLOWN OUT ONCE IN THE PAST YEAR. THIS SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE 2006 HONDA CR-V, A RECALL IS PROBABLY AN APPROPRIATE ACTION. *TR
I DECIDED TO WRITE THIS AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB FOR IDEAS ON WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY CRV, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT - IT'S GETTING ANNOYING TO ALWAYS BE REPLACING THEM. I CANNOT SERVICE MY OWN VEHICLE AND ALWAYS SEEM TO BE INTO OUR MECHANIC GETTING A NEW BULB REPLACED FOR THIS VEHICLE. NOW MY DAUGHTER IS DRIVING THE CAR AND I HATE HAVING HER COME HOME AT NIGHT AND TELL ME THE BULB HAS BURNT OUT AGAIN (TWICE IN A MONTH AS OF THIS WEEK ALREADY SINCE DECEMBER 2012). I HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS LOW BEAM BULBS ON OUR 2006 HONDA CR-V. I REPLACED THE LEFT ONE THIS PAST WEEK END. THE BULB I REMOVED TESTED FINE, BUT I PUT A NEW BULB IN ANYWAY BUT STILL HAD NO LOW BEAM! THEN AFTER CHECKING FUSES WHICH WERE OK, IT WORKED. NOW IT IS OUT AGAIN. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING HAD TIGHT CONNECTIONS. THE LOW BEAM IS STILL NOT WORKING EVEN WITH THE NEW BULB. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES. I HAD THE RIGHT SIDE GO OUT A MONTH AGO AND REPLACED THAT BULB. THIS A CONTINUING PROBLEM. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED I AM NOT THE ONLY HONDA CR-V OWNER WITH HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM PROBLEMS. I READ WHERE A RECALL IS COMING FOR MODEL YEARS 2002-2004. I AM ONE OF MANY HONDA CR-V OWNERS WHO BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD EXTEND THROUGH THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. I HAVE OWNED VEHICLES FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND CAN'T RECALL A VEHICLE THAT HAS GONE THROUGH SO MANY BULBS. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A HONDA DEALER WITH 33,000 MILES ON IT IN APRIL OF 2009. THE FIRST RECORDED INCIDENT WAS AT 82411 MILES, WHEN AFTER REPLACING BOTH HEADLAMPS MULTIPLE TIMES AT MY OWN EXPENSE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A THIRD PARTY SERVICE CENTER (THAT I'VE USED FOR YEARS ON MULTIPLE VEHICLES) TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT CIRCUITRY EVALUATED (NO PROBLEMS FOUND). AS STATED EARLIER, AS OF THIS TIME, I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED SEVERAL REPLACEMENT BULBS. SINCE THIS TIME, I, AGAIN, HAVE REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHTS MULTIPLE TIMES AT MY OWN EXPENSE. OVER ALL, I WOULD SAY THAT IN THE (APPROX) 7 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CRV, I HAVE REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHTS APPROX 6-7 TIMES EACH. HAVING SEARCHED THE INTERNET SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS, I FEEL THAT HAVING TO REPLACE THESE HEADLIGHTS AS OFTEN AS I HAVE IS UNREALISTIC AND EVIDENCE OF A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM, BASED ON THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
STARTING IN JANUARY OF 2011 I HAVE REPLACED THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS NUMEROUS TIMES. THEY ARE NOW GOING OUT EVERY 4 MONTHS. IT IS GETTING QUITE EXPENSIVE AND HONDA SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2006 CR-V OWNERS. *TR
THE LOW BEAMS ON MY HONDA HAVE BEEN REPLACED ABOUT 11 TIMES SINCE LAST SUMMER. IT STARTER WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE- SO NOW, IT GOES PASSENGER, DRIVER, PASSENGER, ETC.
