TRANSMISSION FAILS AFTER DRIVING IN REVERSE. GEARS CAN BE CHANGED WITH THE LEVER BUT TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ENGAGE THE GEARS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF AND NO OTHER INDICATORS ARE PRESENT.
CAR CONTINUES TO SLIP AND REV UP DURING MANY UP-SHIFTS OR WHEN SLOWING DOWN. AFTER SOME TIME THAT IT HAS WARM ENOUGH IT WILL STOP DOING IT, BUT IT ALWAYS SLIPS AND REVS UP BETWEEN THIRD AND FOURTH SHIFT. ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR FEW YEARS NOW, BUT NO ONE HAD SHOWED UP WITH A RIGHT SOLUTION.
WHILE DRIVING ACROSS NEBRASKA (POSSIBLY JUST INSIDE WYOMING) HEADING TO COLORADO ON SUN JUNE 29TH, ON I-80 (VERY LONG, 80MPH SPEED-LIMIT HIGHWAY), MY CAMRY WITH 215,000 MILES SUDDENLY GAVE A 'CHECK HYBRID ENGINE' CODE, WHICH CAUSED THE GAS-PEDAL TO BE UNRESPONSIVE. THE CHECK ENGINE SYMBOL ALSO CAME ON. THE ELECTRONIC 'TRIP INFORMATION' DATA-GRAPHIC SHOWED MY HYBRID BATTERY WAS DOWN TO ONE PINK-LINE SUGGESTING LOW-POWER IN THE HYBRID BATTERY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SMOOTHLY. OVER THE COURSE OF TWO HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW-TRUCK THAT NEVER ARRIVED, I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON/OFF A FEW TIMES TO VERIFY THE ON-BOARD GPS FOR OUR LOCATION (ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WITHIN THE VEHICLE STILL WORKED). AT AROUND THE TWO HOUR WAITING-MARK, WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE 'CHECK HYBRID ENGINE' ALERT AND THE CHECK-ENGINE SYMBOL BOTH DISAPPEARED, & I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE ADDITIONAL 50+ MILES TO MY FINAL DESTINATION IN FORT COLLINS COLORADO. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN COLORADO & TWO CODES WERE REGISTERED: POAOF-204 - ENGINE FAILED TO START (?? THE VEHICLE ALWAYS 'STARTED' SO I'M NOT CLEAR ABOUT THIS CODE) AND P3190 - POOR ENGINE POWER. EVEN THOUGH I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE VEHICLE AROUND FORT COLLINS, THE HYBRID BATTERY WOULD ONLY GET UP TO THREE CHARGE LINES (BLUE), WHICH ISN'T EVEN HALF-CHARGED, BEFORE TRICKLING BACK DOWN TO THE TWO OR EVEN ONE PINK-LINE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN-TRANSIT ON A CARRIER TRUCK TO MY HOME BACK IN BUFFALO, NY. THE VEHICLE'S ALWAYS BEEN RELIABLE TO THIS POINT, AND I HAVE HAD IT SINCE APPROXIMATELY 23,000 MILES (WHEN I TOOK IT OVER FROM MY FATHER). I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS THE SAME PROBLEM AFFECTING CERTAIN PRIUS MODELS (2011-2015) WHERE THE GAS ENGINE NO LONGER COMMUNICATES/CHARGES THE HYBRID ENGINE. THE VEHICLE PASSED NYS INSPECTION WITH AN OIL CHANGE IN JUNE 2020. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE WITH THE GEAR IN PARK, THE VEHICLE MOVED AND DROVE OVER THE OCCUPANT'S LEGS. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO BROKEN ANKLES, CUTS, AND BRUISES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE FLEXPLATE SHREDDED FROM THE MOUNTING TO THE ENGINE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH. THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED WHILE IT WAS AT THE TOYOTA SERVICE GARAGE. IT ALL FELL APART AS THEY WERE DISMANTLING IT. THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE POWER TRAIN TO SEIZE UP AND DISCHARGE FLYING METAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTO ANOTHER GEAR. IN ADDITION, WHILE REVERSING, THE GEAR FAILED TO CHANGE OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE CONDITION CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP 3 YEARS AGO AND IT ONLY HAD 42,000 MILES. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND WOULD JERK SUDDENLY AS IT SHIFTED IN LOWER GEARS. RECENTLY I WAS HEARING NOISE FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHERE THE TRANSMISSION IS LOCATED. BROUGHT IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT ORIGINALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE WATER PUMP AND THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE DIAGNOSIS DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME AND SUSPECTED MAYBE THE DEALER DIDN'T WANT TO ADMIT THAT THE TRANSMISSION THEY HAD REPLACED WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION. THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE CAR HAS NEVER LEAKED FLUID AND HAS NEVER OVERHEATED WHICH ARE SYMPTOMS OF WATER PUMP PROBLEMS. I DECIDED TO HAVE THEM CHANGE THE WATER PUMP SINCE TWO SEPARATE TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS WERE TELLING ME THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE NOISE. DROVE THE CAR HOME AND THE GRINDING NOISE WAS STILL THERE. I DECIDED TO GIVE IT SOME TIME AND MAYBE THE NOISE WOULD GO AWAY EVENTUALLY. TWO DAYS AFTER GETTING THE CAR WORKED ON THE NOISE GOT LOUDER. I DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO HAVE THE DEALER CHECK IT AGAIN. ON MY WAY THERE, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP GEARS. IT GOT A POINT WHERE THE CAR COULD BARELY DRIVE 20 MILES/HR. MY TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. THE TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN. WHAT REALLY FRUSTRATES ME IS THAT I HAVE ONLY PUT 23,000 MILES ON THE SECOND TRANSMISSION AND NOW IT IS GOING TO NEED A 3RD TRANSMISSION. MY SAFETY HAS BEEN AT RISK AND THE CAR NEVER GAVE ME A CHECK ENGINE WARNING. KEEP IN MIND I TOOK MY CAMRY TO 2 SEPARATE TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND WITH A DIAGNOSIS OF A PART THAT WAS NO WHERE NEAR WHERE I WAS HEARING THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL THEIR 6 SPEED TRANS
THE VEHICLE IS SLUGGISH OCCASIONALLY WHEN ACCELERATING. THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AT FIRST AND NOW ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT IS THE BATTERY PACK. THE COST THEY QUOTED IS $4000. LAST MONTH I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ACTUATOR AND NOW ITS THE BATTERY PACK. THIS TOYOTA HAS BEEN VERY UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE. I HAD ISSUES WITH BRAKING LAST MONTH AND NOW IT IS HARD TO KNOW IF THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE WHEN NEEDED. TOYOTA HAS HAD A VERY POOR RESPONSE TO ANY INQUIRIES. THEY SHOW VERY LITTLE REGARD FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND PREFER TO SETTLE CASES THAN TO BE PROACTIVE AND FIX THEIR UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS PRODUCTS. *TR
CAR, SINCE NEW, HAS AN ISSUE WHERE IT SEEMS TO STALL WHILE ACCELERATING MODERATELY TO WOT FROM A SPEED RANGE BEGINNING AROUND 30-35MPH TO AROUND 50MPH BASED ON CERTAIN CONDITIONS. MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY OR TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE/PASS. THE POWER OUTPUT OF THE ENGINE SEEMS TO BE PULLED BACK BY THE ECM (LIKE TOYOTA'S TRACTION CONTROL) AS IT DOES NOT SEEM TO LUG LIKE A MANUAL IN TOO HIGH A GEAR. THERE IS NO INITIAL SHIFT DOWN OF THE TRANSMISSION. IN JUST OVER A SECOND, THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY SHIFTS DOWN TO THE NEXT GEAR BUT IT IS STILL NOT ENOUGH AS THE ENGINE OUT PUT IS LOW DUE TO THAT GEAR BEING TOO LOW IN THE POWERBAND. SUDDENLY, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS DOWN TO THE NEXT GEAR, BEING THE APPROPRIATE GEAR FOR THE ENGINE LOAD/SPEED, THE POWER ON THE ENGINE KICKS UP (265BHP) AND CAUSES THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD. IF THE WHEEL IS TURNED AS IF TO TAKE A LANE OR PASS, THIS BECOMES NEAR VIOLENT, STARTLING THE DRIVER AND POSSIBLE MEANS TO LOOSE CONTROL IN LESS TRACTABLE CONDITIONS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HELD IN THE 60-100% RANGE. IF, WHEN THIS CONDITION ARISES, THE DRIVER TAKES THEIR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THE POWERTRAIN SEEMS TO STALL AND STUTTER. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT 3 TIMES AS THE CAR NORMALLY HAS A LOT OF POWER (265BHP V6). TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE WAS INVOLVED BUT BASED THEIR DECISION ON DEALER THAT DID NOTHING. IT TOOK ME A LONG WHILE TO FINALLY FIGURE OUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES NEEDED TO MAKE THIS ISSUE REPEAT AS NEEDED. THE TCU PUTS THE TRANSMISSION INTO 6TH GEAR AT TOO LOW A SPEED 30-50MPH AND POSSIBLY INTO LOCK-UP. NEITHER SHOULD HAPPEN. THE ECU SEES THE ENGINE STRUGGLING WITH THE LOAD AND PULLS BACK THE POWER TO PREVENT OVER-TORQUING AND DAMAGING THE POWER TRAIN. ANALOGOUS WITH TRYING TO TAKEOFF FROM A STOP WITH A MANUAL TRANS IN 3RD OR 4TH GEAR. *JS
AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY ONTO A RESIDENTIAL STREET, MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED MOVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I RECEIVED NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR! AFTER THE INCIDENT, I ATTEMPTED TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO DIPSTICK NOR COULD I LOCATE ANY INFORMATION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IN A 2007 CAMRY COULD ONLY BE CHECKED BY A MECHANIC. THE RESULTS OF HIS CHECK WERE THAT THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION NOR DID HE FIND ANY LEAKS. HE PUT FLUIDS IN THE CAR, BUT IT CONTINUED TO SLIP WHEN HE TEST DROVE IT. I THEN HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE CLOSET TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, LUSTINE TOYOTA. LUSTINE ALSO FOUND NO LEAKS IN THE TRANSMISSION AND COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WERE NO FLUIDS WHEN IT WAS ORIGINALLY CHECKED BY THE MECHANIC. LUSTINE INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I CONTACTED DARCARS 355 TOYOTA WHO SERVICES MY CAR FOR THE RECOMMENDED 5000 MILE CHECKS. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH 355 THAT EXPIRED IN MAY 2013. MY CAR WAS LAST SERVICED BY 355 IN MARCH 2013. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES REMAINING BEFORE MY NEXT SERVICE IS DUE. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE IS NO PROOF THAT 355 DID ANYTHING WRONG, SO THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. 355 WAS NOT EVEN WILLING TO ADMIT THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN HUMAN ERROR IN SERVICING MY CAR. I CONTACTED TOYOTA'S CORPORATE OFFICE. AFTER 4 DAYS OF MY CASE SITTING ON THE DESK OF A SUPERVISOR, I WAS EXTENDED A GOOD WILL OFFER OF $1500 TOWARDS MY NEXT NEW OR $1000 TOWARDS MY NEXT USED TOYOTA PURCHASE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE IN THE REPLACEMENT OF MY TRANSMISSION! MY CAR REMAINS IN THE SHOP. HOWEVER, ONCE THE TRANSMISSION IS REMOVED, LUSTINE WILL CHECK FOR POSSIBLE DEFECTS. *TR
CAR WILL HESITATE FOR NEARLY 3 SECONDS WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR HARD TO ENTER A FREEWAY FROM 30-40MPH ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP. DOES NOT REPEAT ITSELF AS THE CAR HAS TO BE UNDER A CERTAIN LOAD, THROTTLE POSITION, AND SPEED. THE RANDOMNESS OF THE ISSUE WILL LEAVE YOU STARTLED AND CRINGING IN FEAR OF A NEAR MISS. ENGINE SEEMS TO STALL THEN TRANSMISSION WILL FINALLY DROP DOWN ONE GEAR WHICH IS NOT ENOUGH TO BRING THE ENGINE RPM UP. THEN AT THE LAST MOMENT, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS AND THE MOTOR COMES ALIVE. HAPPENS SOMETIMES WHEN PASSING. ALL OTHER TIMES IT IS OK. THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IS USELESS AS THEY DENY, DENY, DENY AND STATE THEY CAN'T REPLICATE. IT IS A DEFINITE SOFTWARE ISSUE BETWEEN THE ENGINE ECU AND THE TRANSMISSION ECU. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A 268BHP V6 ENGINE IF YOU CAN NOT UTILIZE THAT POWER WHEN NEEDED? *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG AT ABOUT 40MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS NO POWER GOING TO THE WHEELS. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT NO POWER WAS GOING TO THE WHEELS. LUCKILY, I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST AROUND A CORNER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND CAUGHT MY BREATH, AND THEN WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR IT RAN OKAY. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN--LOSS OF POWER--COASTING TO A STOP. I DOUBLE CHECKED AND THE CAR WAS IN FACT IN DRIVE--BUT NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE HYBRID ECM (WHICH THEY HAVE RETAINED) AND THE PARK/NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. (WHICH I HAVE). *TR *JS
POPPING NOISE IN STEERING @ 50,000 MILES ~ WAS TOLD RACK ASSEMBLY POWER STEERING WAS BAD , BRAKES ~ TOUCH APPLY GOING DOWN HILL FRONT END SHAKES WORKED ON 13 MONTHS AGO DOING IT AGAIN @ 50,000 MILES , WARPED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS INADVERTENTLY KNOCKED INTO REVERSE FROM DRIVE. THE CONTACT SWIFTLY SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND WHILE MOVING FROM THE ROADWAY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 07/28/11*LJ SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY OFFERED NO REPAIRS, ONLY A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4500. THE CONSUMER THEN HAD IT TOWED TO AAMCO AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $3500. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE BEFORE JERKING INTO THE NEXT GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT PERFORM ANY REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS INTENDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,087.
MY WIFE HAD BACKED HER 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OUT OF OUR GARAGE ONTO THE DRIVEWAY TO WASH THE CAR. THE DRIVEWAY IS ON A MEDIUM INCLINE. SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE CAR ALONG WITH OUR GRANDDAUGHTER. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND THE IGNITION KEY IN HER POCKET. AFTER CLEANING THE INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WITH OUR GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE DRIVER SIDE SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF WALKING AROUND THE FRONT OF THE CAR IN ORDER TO CLEAN THE DRIVER COMPARTMENT WHEN OUR GRANDDAUGHTER WAS MOVING TO THE PASSENGER SIDE SHE HIT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IT CAME OUT OF PARK AND ROLLED ACROSS THE ALLY INTO THE NEIGHBORS BACK FENCE. MY WIFE GOT INTO THE CAR AND DROVE TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, REMOVED THE KEY AND WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK WITHOUT HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE KEY REMOVED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER. THE NEXT DAY WE PICKED THE CAR UP FROM THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD US TO TAKE THE CAR AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN LEAVE THE CAR AS IS WITH THE CAR OUT OF GEAR, CALL THEM AND THEY WOULD SEND A TOW TRUCK. THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE DROVE THE CAR TO THE SHOPPING MALL. WHEN SHE RETURNED THE CAR SHE WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. SHE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SERVICE REP ON THE PHONE SO SHE DROVE HOME AND PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES LATER WE ALL WENT OUT TO THE CAR AND HAD HER SON TRY TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WHICH HE DID. THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE IN THE SHIFTER WHEN REMOVING FROM PARK AND COULD FREELY MOVE THE SHIFTER. WE LEFT THE SHIFTER IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND CALLED THE DEALER WHO SENT A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE DRIVE VERIFY THE CAR COULD BE SHIFTED WITH THE KEY OUT. THE REP CALLED AND SAID THE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL THEM ALL THE HAVE TO DO IS DRIVE THE CAR FOR 15 MIN, WAIT 15 MIN THEN MOVE OUT OF PARK. THE REP IS NOT COOPERATING. *TR
I NOTICED AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF ROAD NOISE AND VIBRATIONS WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THEY INITIALLY SUGGESTED TIRE REPLACEMENT/ALIGNMENT. SINCE THE TIRES WERE ABOUT DUE I DID SO AND THERE WAS IMPROVEMENT BUT IT CONTINUED. MY SECOND VISIT TO THE DEALER REVEALED THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL BEARING WAS FAILING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED GEARS BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND UNTIL HE APPLIED EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ERRATICALLY SHIFT GEARS WHILE ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE OIL LIGHT ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY COMES ON BEFORE THE REQUIRED OIL CHANGE IS DUE. WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY IT IS LOW ON OIL & IT IS NORMAL TO BURN ABOUT A QUART OF OIL FOR EVERY 700 - 1000 MILES & I NEED TO CHECK IT BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND PROBABLY ADD ADDITIONAL OIL. THERE IS NOT AN OIL LEAK AND SEVERAL OTHER 2007 CAMRY OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE AND RESPONSE. ADDITIONALLY, I OWN A 1998 CAMRY AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN LOW ON OIL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE THEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE SHIFTER WAS REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE DEALER THEN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXPENSES. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND TRY TO ASSIST WITH A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000.
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD TURN OFF. MY CAR IS UNDRIVABLE, THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT IS FAILING AND IS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THE APPROXIMATE COST OF REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY IS 1,000. I CALLED TOYOTA CORP. TO ASK FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE IN PAYMENT DUE TO THE FACT MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. I AM OUTSIDE THE 60,000 WARRANTY TOYOTA REFUSED TO ASSIST IN THE PAYMENT FOR THE REPAIR OF MY 3 YEAR OLD CAR. *TR
THE NEW 2007 CAMRY HAS ALWAYS HAD AN UNEVEN ACCELERATION AND SLOWING. IT IS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS ALWAYS "SEARCHING" FOR THE CORRECT GEAR. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE IS ALWAYS CHANGING SPEEDS. DURING THE INITIAL REPAIR, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THEY HAVE "A LOT" OF THESE TYPES OF COMPLAINTS AND SAID THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. ON SUBSEQUENT REPAIRS I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AND THAT TOYOTA COULD NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM THAT THE 2007 CAMRYS HAD. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION OR ACCIDENTS I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE A WARRANTY. I E-MAILED TOYOTA BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AND AM UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR
