I JUST LEARNED THAT THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS OF MULTIPLE CRACKS ON THE VEHICLE DASH. I CONFRONTED THE DEALER REGARDING THE SAME THEY STATED THAT I WAS IN NEED OF PLACING A COMPLAINT ABOUT IT IN WAY FOR THEM TO CONSIDER THE SAME AND AUTHORIZE A REPAIR. THE VERY SAME DAY I WANTED TO PLACE THE COMPLAINT AND THEY STATED THAT THE SAME IS IN A "SUSPENSE STATUS". I JUST WENT THROUGH THE COMPLAINTS HERE REPORTED AND NOTED IT IS A RECURRENT VEHICLE MANUFACTURER DAMAGE. I BELIEVE IF I, AS OWNER, FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCIONS OF NOT USING ANY CONDITIONER OR ANY ABBRASSIVE CLEANER BUT A MILD SOAP AND WATER WITH A DAMP CLOTH, THE DASH IS COMING APPART AS IT IS. I ALSO THINK THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF BEING THE DASH WHERE THE AIRBAGS ARE STORED,WHEN DEPLOYED ON AN ACCIDENT COULD CAUSE ALSO THE THE DASH TO CRACK AND ITS PIECES BE A PROJECTILE OBJECT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD EXHIBITED NUMEROUS CRACKS NEAR THE AIR VENTS. ADDITIONALLY, A STICKY SUBSTANCE COVERED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD SURFACE. I EXTENDED THE REAR HATCH ALL THE WAY OPEN TO UNLOAD THE TRUNK, BUT SURPRISINGLY IT DID NOT REMAIN OPEN AS IT NORMALLY WOULD. THE REAR POWER DOOR LIFT STRUTS FAILED, AND THE TRUNK CAME GENTLY DOWN ON ME. THE DOOR WAS VERY HEAVY TO KEEP OPEN WITH ONE ARM WHILE I FINISHED UNLOADING THE TRUNK WITH THE OTHER. OVER THE COURSE OF THE FOLLOWING DAYS, THE STRUTS WORSENED AND THE DOOR BECAME VERY HEAVY AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN. I THEN BROUGHT IT TO THE TOYOTA OF BEDFORD DEALER FOR SERVICE, AT A TOTAL REPAIR COST OF AROUND $400. *TR

THE REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCHES FAIL. THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED DUE TO LATCH/LOCKING MECHANISM FAILURE. I HAD A DOG IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN DOOR LATCH FAILED...LUCKILY THE DOG DID NOT FALL OUT. IF A PERSON HAD AN UNSECURED CHILD IN A REAR SEAT THEY COULD VERY EASILY FALL OUT! THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME THE LOCK WAS NOT LUBRICATED WHICH WAS AN OUTRIGHT LIE BECAUSE TOYOTA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT SINCE OCTOBER 2010. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR MINE AT THEIR EXPENSE BECAUSE MY MILEAGE IS OVER 120,000 NOW...THEIR DEALER LIED TO ME REGARDING THE PROBLEM AT 56,000 WHICH WAS WHEN I FIRST REPORTED IT. *TR

CABLE FROM DOOR SNAPPED. REAR RIGHT SLIDING DOOR BECAME INOPERABLE, HAD TO OPEN AND CLOSE MANUALLY. VERY HARD TO SLIDE DOOR IN EITHER DIRECTION. TOYOTA DIAGNOSED AS BROKEN CABLE REPAIRED. DOOR INOPERABLE AGAIN IN 2/2012. TOYOTA DIAGNOSED AS BROKEN DOOR RELEASE MOTOR. REPAIRED. INCURRED TOTAL OF $1,405.00 IN REPAIRS. SUBMITTED RECEIPTS FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE SIENNA DOOR LATCH AND CABLE ASSY WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT 11/27/12. 12/26/12 RECEIVED LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATING THAT THE REPAIR DOES NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR REIMBURSEMENT. 1/4/2013 CALLED 1-800-331-4331 TO ASK WHY IT IS NOT COVERED. AFTER BEING ON HOLD FOR 30 MINUTES, GENTLEMAN SAYS THE CABLE AND MOTOR ARE NOT COVERED FOR OUR VIN#. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IF THE DOOR LATCH HAD BROKEN. I ASKED IF HE COULD SEND ME ANYTHING IN WRITING AS TO REASON FOR NOT BEING COVERED AND HE SAID NO. I DO NOT THINK TOYOTA IS TREATING ITS CUSTOMERS FAIRLY. THE LEFT REAR SLIDING DOOR BROKE IN 2010 AND THEY DID COVER IT AS IT WAS RIGHT AT 3 YEARS SO STILL COVERED. THE REAR SLIDING DOORS ARE CONSTRUCTED POORLY AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH SLIDING DOORS AGAIN. *TR

MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GETS BELOW 60 DEGREES, THE REAR HATCH DOOR DOES NOT STAY OPEN, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE AND HAS TRAPPED MYSELF AS WELL AS MY HUSBAND AND BANGED MY SON IN THE HEAD. I OPENED THE AUTOMATIC LIFTGATE TO MY 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA AND UPON IT REACHING THE FULLY OPEN POSITION AT THE TOP, IT IMMEDIATELY DROPPED AND STARTED TO CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED ME AN INJURY IF I HADN'T QUICKLY MOVED OUT OF THE WAY. EVERY TIME I OPEN THE LIFTGATE, WHETHER I DO IT USING MY KEY FOB, FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, OR BY LIFTING THE HANDLE, THE SAME THING HAPPENS CAUSING RISK OF INJURY TO ME AND MY CHILDREN. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT DESPITE SIMILAR ISSUES BEING REPORTED WITH 2004 TO 2006 TOYOTA SIENNAS, WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN THE ISSUANCE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN 08V244000. *TR

THE CONCERN IS THE DEFECTIVE RUBBER PAD ON THE SWITCH IN THE SIENNA?S REAR LIFTGATE. THE RUBBER PAD UNDER THE SWITCH THAT IS USED TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE ON THE BACK OF THE SIENNA HAS GONE SOFT AND TAR LIKE. IF I GRAB A PIECE IT PULLS RIGHT OFF LIKE CHEWING GUM. THE BLACK TAR LIKE SUBSTANCE GETS ON YOUR HANDS TOO AND IS HARD TO WASH OFF. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS COLD WEATHER, ONCE IT GOES BELOW 35 DEGREE F THE DOOR HANDLE SWITCH WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN. I THE EVENT OF A CRASH YOU COULDN'T OPEN THE REAR HATCH TO EXIT. THIS PART IS UNMISTAKABLY DEFECTIVE. IF THE RUBBER JUST CRACKED I COULD SEE IT AS A WEAR ITEM (LIKE TIRES OR WIPER BLADES). APPARENTLY IN US STATES WITH A WARMER CLIMATE THIS MELTING LATCH DEFECT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM - JUST SEARCH THE INTERNET. DEFECTIVE REAR HANDLE SWITCH (PART# 84840-08010). *TR

THE RUBBER PAD UNDER THE SWITCH THAT IS USED TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE ON THE BACK OF THE SIENNA HAS GONE SOFT AND TAR LIKE. IF I GRAB A PIECE IT PULLS RIGHT OFF LIKE CHEWING GUM. THE BLACK STAR LIKE SUBSTANCE GETS ON THE HANDS/FINGERS TOO AND IS HARD TO WASH OFF. THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT (NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR). TOYOTA WON'T RECALL AND MAKE IT A WARRANTY FIX. THE PART# IS 84840-08010 AND MSRP IS $58.53 PLUS LABOR. *TR

STRUTS ON THE REAR POWER LIFT GATE HAVE FAILED AND REAR GATE WILL OPEN AND IMMEDIATELY START CLOSING WITH NO WAY TO STOP IT. THIS OCCURS WHEN USING INTERIOR BUTTON OR REMOTE KEY FOB. IF OPENED MANUALLY, THE GATE SLAMS CLOSED WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT INJURY DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE DROPPING GATE. RESEARCH INDICATES THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2004-2006 MODELS AND STRUTS WERE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. APPARENTLY THE SAME STRUTS WERE USED ON 2007 MODELS, HOWEVER THE DEALER WOULD NOT WARRANTY REPLACEMENT. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES FOR THEM TO INSTALL TWO NEW STRUTS FOR $362.00. THE 2004-2006 RECALL IS LISTED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 08V244000. THIS IS THE EXACT ISSUE I EXPERIENCED. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,150.

I READ ABOUT 2004-2006 RECALL AND HAD TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN MARCH 14,2007 MODEL 04-07 THIS REGARDS THE LIFT GATE NOT PROPERLY WORKING. ON THE 04-06 RECALL WHY NOT THE 07 RECALL NOT INCLUDED. WHILE I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME PARTS THAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. *JS

DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILED, WOULD NOT CLOSE (DOOR CONTINUALLY RE-OPENED ITSELF INSTEAD OF LATCHING CLOSED). AFTER SETTING THE DOORS TO "MANUAL," THE SAME DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL. WITH TWO INFANTS, IT BECAME NECESSARY TO CRAWL OVER THE INFANT SEAT INSTALLED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR CAPTAIN'S CHAIR IN ORDER TO REACH THE INFANT SEAT INSTALLED BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR IS CLOSE TO FAILURE (THE SHEATHING ON THE CABLE IS FRAYED), WHICH WILL MEAN NEITHER OF THE REAR DOORS WILL BE FUNCTIONAL. VERY UNSAFE CONDITION IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR FIRE. TOYOTA WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, AND QUOTES A PRICE OF $3400 TO REPAIR. *TR
