Shift tranny to park not working properly.
Sudden hard downshift from 10th gear to 5th great. Check engine light came on with message of reduced acceleration mode.
I have personally been experiencing a terrible cold start in the mornings. I have a 8 speed transmission with the 2.7 L engine. There is a recall on other Silverado and sierras with a (broken reaction carrier ring). I am having issues like, not engaging into drive from park for 20 seconds, once engaging-it will have hard pauses and shifts, yesterday I turned left crossing traffic with my kids in the truck and it stalled before shifting into second. I have been having these issues since about 15k and they’re progressively getting worse. The dealership keeps telling me it’s a normal for an 8 speed transmission. When doing research gmc did a recall for exactly the issues I’m having, however it only included 96 vehicles sierra and silverados. Which is customer satisfaction program N212328090 8 speed reaction Carrier Failure. I would love to chat about it over the phone if more information is needed. I am very unsatisfied with Chevrolets resolution to saying it is normal. It is definitely not normal. I am submitting a complaint regarding recurring transmission issues with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ). These problems have compromised my safety and that of others on the road. Multiple repair attempts and discussions with GM have not resolved the issue. Incident Details: On [XXX], around 9 a.m., I experienced a severe transmission malfunction documented on dash cam. When I shifted out of park, the vehicle lunged forward, forcing me to brake suddenly, despite not applying gas. Minutes later, on an exit ramp, the transmission downshifted without throttle input, causing the rear end to fishtail as it attempted to throttle out and sounded stuck in neutral. Repair History: This issue has led to repeated repairs in January, February, and April of 2023 and 2024, as well as September 2023 and 2024. Despite these efforts, GM released a technical service bulletin classifying this transmission behavior as “normal” and has refused further repairs. Safety Impact: These unpredictable shifts and lack of responsiveness have created hazardous situations. Lunging, uncommanded downshifting, and rear fishtailing make it difficult to maintain control, especially in high-traffic areas. Request for NHTSA Investigation: Given these safety concerns, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this defect affects other vehicles of this make and model year. An investigation may prevent future incidents and prompt GM to address this dangerous issue. Additional documentation, including dash cam footage, repair records, and communication with GM, is available to support this complaint. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop sign, the accelerator pedal was then depressed and the vehicle lost power. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was steered and parked on the side of the road and inspected. The contact stated that while attempting to place the vehicle in drive again, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Transmission valve cover and yes available for inspection. It wouldn’t shift gears causing me to drive only 10mph. It has been reproduced. Not inspected and the check engine light came on when the vehicle started to shudder.
Hello, I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine made a noise then the dash alerted me to shift into neutral/press start. I had to pull off the highway in single lane traffic and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealership. The truck lost power on the highway in single lane and there was no ability for other cars to go around me in a 75mph zone due to construction. The dealer diagnosis is that the motor is locked up and will require full replacement at only 70k miles. It is within years on powertrain but out due to mileage. There were no symptoms until the truck engine locked itself up.
The Transmission is stuck in 2nd gear, and won’t reverse. I bought the truck used from dealership. There is a GM Technical Bulletin, that states the vehicle is/was not to have been sold, prior to having the Transmission control Module replaced.
As I drive down road at speed limit. Transmission control module shuts down and the truck loses speed to where it's a safety problem that the cars behind you almost hits you as you have to coast of the road. It has happened to many times. I took it to dealerships. But I had to shop around from county to county to find one that would fix the problem. They dealership wouldn't fix while under warranty. Know that I have finally found a dealership in another county. They have ho parts to fix it. But I'm stuck with a bill that while under warranty the problem exists. The biggest thing is that once I found this dealership. They informed me that this is ongoing problem with GM. They had about 7 others in shop with the same problem and no parts. I don't understand while there is no recall to fix this problem that exists. Trying to make me pay my truck payment plus spend monthly money on renter cars. That's about $2000 a month extra.
I bought this truck with 0 miles and I purchase an extended warranty for $4000 DLS from the dealership to cover until 150000 miles and on January 2024 The transmission broke down I took in into the dealership for repairs and they have not been able to repaired and they keep giving me the round around every day is been 6 months that I been paying for a vehicle that I can’t drive and neither the dealership or the extended warranty company can fixed I need your help please thank you and gb
Vehicle was hard shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and back from 2nd to first gear. Periodic hard shifting would occur at highway speeds when attempting to pass. Vehicle was taken into the dealership. Deal had performed a smart learn on the transmission. Problem was corrected for approximately 50 miles. Problem came back and the dealership was contacted but they had no appointments available but stated vehicle was safe to drive. While at a stop light from red to green the vehicle lost all power, would not shift gears and check engine light came on. 7 codes were displayed all around the transmission valve cover and vales. Dealership said the vehicle was safe to drive and could not further diagnose the issue for several weeks. Drove the vehicle home approximately 7 miles and it would not shift out of 2nd gear. Called another dealership who said that the vehicle was not safe to drive and had it towed to the dealership. Dealer took it in replaces the valves and valve body but the vehicle has not been returned as issues are still persisting but dealership cannot locate reason for poor transmission performance and is tearing down the transmission. At this point the vehicle has been down for 2 weeks.
During a cold start up once the vehicle is moving, it has a hard time shifting. It jerks makes a loud noise and shift a radically.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the service transmission warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the shift selector had seized. The contact called the local dealer where a service appointment was scheduled but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500.
While driving at highway speed and winding the engine up to pass, the entire truck shudders and it feels as if the transmission slips. The vehicle does not accelerate normally and it feels as if the transmission has issues finding the passing gear. After passing and letting off the gas it continues to shudder for a while until you reach a steady speed. Occurs with or without a load. When loaded with weight in bed (such as a load of firewood) and/or towing a trailer the shudder/vibration and slipping feeling are more pronounced when just passengers are in the vehicle. Vehicle has about 3000 miles and the issue is occurring more frequently. started at about 2.5 k miles or so. Dealer was unable to duplicate on my first service call. I will take it back again when it happens.
Since new delivery, transmission appears to slip into neutral when vehicle is first started and accelerated forward. Was advised by Chevrolet service that this is a known issue, and that GM is aware of the issue, but nothing can be done about it. Other than annoying, if a quicker move forward is required, the vehicle accelerates in neutral then grabs, causing the vehicle to slip on wet pavement, which could lead to a loss of control.
On the first drive everyday, the transmission keeps slipping between 1st and 2nd gear and you have no power trying to accelerate until you find a gear. Took it to dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong. They said Chevrolet has a bulletin on this issue already. Not okay
