I am writing to report noncompliance with the fuel pump recall for 2018 Honda CRVs. I was unable to find a place to report such noncompliance, so I ask that you refer this complaint ot the appropriate enforcement unit of the NHTSA. Since the recall was announced last spring, I have on three occasions asked my Honda dealer/service provider (Honda of Princeton) when my fuel pump will be replaced. Each time they have said that no fuel pumps are available and have added that there is not really a problem and that if my fuel pump malfunctions, they will replace it immediately --- which of course goes against the spirit of the recall, which is to avoid preventable accidents due to fuel-pump malfunctioning. They have been giving me later and later dates for a replacement fuel pump, and it appears that compliance with the NHTSA recall is in an ever receding future.

I received a safety recall in February 2024 about a faulty fuel pump. Then I got another notice saying the parts would be here this fall as do they are not. The safety consequences are a stall while driving increasing the risk of a crash or injury. I am increasingly worried about driving my car. I don’t understand why it is taking so long to resolve this issue. Honda is making fuel pumps for their new cars and this safety recall is not a priority for them . I

I have received a recall on my car last year, and I called multiple dealership to see if they have any parts available, then said they don’t have any parts. So I have to wait for the Honda letter to be notified that if the parts are available. But now I am experiencing engine hesitation recently and i am very worried about it becomes a safety issue, so I called Honda of Seattle and Lynwood Honda again and told them this problem, but they still keep saying that they don’t have the parts and they can’t do anything for me.

American Honda states they do not have parts to address my 2018 Honda CRV LX fuel pump problem. Our local Honda dealer Charlie's Honda Augusta, Maine does not have parts available to them, so they say. However, my mechanic was told by a number of Honda parts dealers that they do have the parts but are not allowed to sell them (illegal) to anyone but a Honda dealer. Also, Charlie's Honda and Lee Honda Auburn, Maine say they must charge me for $150 for an engine diagnostic before they will look at my vehicle. So, I had my mechanic install a Delphi 2270N fuel pump assembly for $700. This recall has been open since December 2023, winter is coming and I want a safe vehicle to drive. I feel that Honda has engaged in deceptive practices and has become another Boeing. I would like to recoup any monies that I can from Honda for this repair since American Honda and Charlie's Honda have proven to be less than cooperative. Also, American Honda will not remove the recall against my vehicle without paying for a $150 engine diagnostic fee at Charlie's Honda after my car has been fixed and is running well. I think NHTSA needs to allow non-dealer mechanics to do repair work on recalls, charged back to the recalled vehicle manufacturer and the auto companies need to make sure the non-dealer mechanics have access to repair parts. I have contacted American Honda and Honda Motor Co. - Japan.

Charlie's Honda (Augusta, Maine) and Lee Honda (Auburn, Maine) have told me that they require an upfront diagnostic fee of $150 in order to put my car in line for a new fuel pump motor, which they don't have. Why should I pay a penny for a recall problem that Honda created using substandard materials in my 2018 Honda CRV LX. I had the fuel pump replaced by my mechanic Richard Beaulieu of Beaulieu's Upright Auto Repair, Augusta, Maine 04330. He tried to purchase the fuel pump motor from Honda parts distributors, which he was told they have in stock but can't sell them to anyone except a Honda dealership. So, we had to settle for an after market Delphi p/n 2270N fuel pump assembly $709.99. All I want is for Honda to cover the new fuel pump cost, for a problem they created. Honda USA called me today that unless I visit a Honda dealership and pay their diagnostic fee that they will not clear the recall flag on my vehicle. Talk about highway robbery! I have an open NHTSA complaint number #11609831. I trust my mechanic for diagnostics more then Honda's. Why issue these safety recalls if it's only a money grab for the dealerships? Winter is approaching and I don't want to be left stranded side of the road with Honda's defective fuel pump. My car is running fine, actually better as it idles more smoothly and has better acceleration.

The component that seems to be failing is the fuel pump impeller per recall notice symptoms description. Our vehicle is demonstrating the following symptoms: 1. loss of drive power (when going down hill), 2. Engine hesitation while driving, 3. Illuminated check engine light (all warning lights go on and cycle through). We had the vehicle to the dealership. Even before inspection we were told that these symptoms were NOT related to the recall notice and were told we would have to pay a diagnostic fee of $189 As per above, the check engine light does go on but so do all the other warning lights (?!). According to our invoice we paid $189.00 to have the warning lights fixed (but 5 days later they were all on once again).

Fuel injections failed on 65,000 mile 2018 Honda CRV. They had been cleaned recently and followed all Honda recommended maintenance. This failure has been repeatedly reported as it's impact 2015-2018 Honda CRV owners. This should be covered and recalled.

1. Fuel pump recall, received December 2023 - not done as of 8-20-24 2. If the engine dies we could have an accident or be stranded as Maine is a rural state. 3. No, replacement fuel pumps are available to the dealer yet. 4. See number 3 5. No warning lights as yet. The car is running fine but for how long? I have been waiting to get my fuel pump replaced by Honda since February 2024. I think six months of waiting is enough. I have been dealing with Charlie’s Honda of Augusta, Maine (448 Western Ave, Augusta, ME 04330) where I bought my Honda. The service department keeps telling me that the parts have not been released for the recall. I got the same answer from Lee Honda of Auburn, Maine (809 Center St, Auburn, ME 04210) Why? I can purchase a retail replacement fuel pump. In addition, the service department wants to charge me for a full engine diagnostic which costs $150 to install the fuel pump. I thought recall costs and labor were charged back to the manufacturer. I am driving an unsafe vehicle and it is unsettling that the engine may quit at any time. We travel quite a bit on the Maine Turnpike and back roads of Maine. I would hate to have the engine quit on me during the winter leaving me stranded or worse yet have the engine quit in heavy traffic causing an accident. Therefore, I intend to get the fuel pump replaced by my regular mechanic at my expense so I can drive without worrying about the defective OEM Honda fuel pump giving out leaving me stranded. I do feel that Honda should reimburse the repair as I have waited long enough for them to do the right thing. Please do what you can to help.

When you turn on the car, all warning lights come on, ALL error messages that can be displayed are displayed, and safety features become disabled. The systems resets after you turn the car on & off at least 5 times but the issue always reappears. Error codes P0172 & P219C have been detected during the issue. The dealer replaced the fuel injectors to remedy the issue.

This car has not been in an accident and has been routinely maintained in accordance with Honda's recommended maintenance schedule. I went to turn on the car one day - nothing abnormal had happened - and I noticed that multiple (5+) warning lamps illuminated upon starting the car, including for the AWD system, power steering system, stability assist system, parking brake system, adaptive cruise control system, and others. This was on or around 1 June 2024; the car had approximately 25,000 miles on it at this time. The car appeared to drive normally. I took this to a dealership, which stated that their diagnostic computer had identified the fuel injectors on cylinders 2 and 3 as malfunctioning and running rich. I incurred approximately $2400 in replacement and repair costs at the dealership. My safety was not put at risk to my knowledge. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. The vehicle and components were inspected by the dealership when diagnosing the problem; there were no manufacturer, police, or insurance representative inspections. The warning lamps were illuminated as above on approximately 1 June 2024.

I first received notice of this recall about a year ago. I have been to the dealer 3 times to request the repair but have been told there are not enough parts to make the repair. On my last visit (7/2/2024) the dealership took my copy of the recall notice and told me they would call me when they had parts to make the repair. They also told me it would probably be 2 or 3 months before the part was available. It is now December 7, 2024 and still no contact from the dealership and no parts from Honda. Please help.

Good afternoon, my Crv 2018 is having the indicated problems that indicate that the fuel pump has defects, I contacted the dealer and they made an appointment for January and when I showed up they told me that they did not have the fuel pump that they would order it and It took two weeks, they have gone 4 times and they have not resolved me. I have called more than 6 times and the response is always different saying that it is American Honda's fault because it has not sent the parts. In the recall it specifies that it is a risk of have an accident if the problem is not dealt with in time but at Honda 65 in Carolina P.R they do not take it seriously.

I am currently shopping for a Honda CRV when I learned that the vehicle has an active recall that has yet to be addressed. When looking into it further and contacting the local Honda dealership, they notified me that they would be unable to handle my request for service (should I decide to purchase the vehicle) until sometime in the fall. It is currently March. Half a year is a long time to wait for repair to a vital system of the car I read so many positive things about. I called other Honda dealers in my area and received the same response for the issue. Am I crazy for thinking that half a year is a long time to wait for a fix to a problem that could immobilize my potential car every time I turn the ignition or even while I’m driving?

I have received a recall notice related to the fuel pump (NHTSA #23V-858) and have been advised by Honda again today that the part required is still on back order until 2025. Is this vehicle safe to drive? If not, what remedy is available to me? It has been more than 60 days since I first inquired about the part.

With this report I am trying to PREVENT an incident from happening. I received the Honda recall notice dated May 2024 for my 2018 CR-V regarding an improperly molded impeller within the fuel pump module. Notice stated "An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury". I contacted my dealer and was told there literally were no replacement parts anywhere in the United States and none would be available until sometime in the fall. However, if the vehicle should become inoperable (possibly while actually driving it) an order for the part could be requested. Is there any way Honda can be compelled to expedite this process? This is our only vehicle and we frequently need to drive on the very crowded interstate near the Phoenix area. We are hesitant to drive a vehicle we've been told by the dealer has an "increasing risk of a crash or injury".

I was unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. The dealers told me they didn’t have the parts necessary for my impeller until the end of this summer. However, the paper I received about my safety recall states that for the first appointment, which I made, will have my situation fixed within two months. The end of the summer is not two months. Moreover, when I made my first appointment on March 15, 2024, they initially cancelled it before I made another appointment to which they told me the parts would only be available at the end of the summer. If this isn’t fixed soon by the end of the summer, this highly raises my concern about the safety of driving this vehicle for both me and my family.

Tried calling the advertised number on your website: 1 888 327 4236 for online complaints but its rings and stops. I have been receiving letters from Honda for a couple of months for a safety recall pertaining o fuel pump. In this period, I took my vehicle ([XXX], 2024) for major servicing and my vehicle was not serviced for recall quoting "Unavailability of spare parts". This month ([XXX], 2024) specifically scheduled my vehicle for safety recall servicing. Got a call from the dealer again stating "Unavailability of spare parts" and that they will call me. I have received a recall notice from Honda again yesterday. In effect, they are complying with NHTSA recall, however not servicing vehicles on the ground for no fault of the consumer. Given the seriousness of the problem, I fear my vehicle might just stall one day. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
